One of the most successful rock acts of the 1970s, 1980s & early 1990s who featured (at one time or another) the talents of Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford & Steve Hackett.

Are any of you fans of Genesis or do you think they were the poor man's Pink Floyd or Yes who turned commercial and went downhill thanks to their drummer?

Follow You Follow Me was their first big hit single. It was also the first sign that with Phil Collins at the helm, they would go from being a great creative band to rubbish.

not a fan of their gabriel/prog rock days, some decent enough material 78-86 but after then went bland.

fav tracks

- land of confusion

- duchess

- missunderstanding

I have always liked most of their back catalogue, with a few exceptions. They certainly became more commercial in the 80's away from their prog/rock tag in the mid 70's. I will admit to owning a few albums. :D
Some of their 70s stuff is OK but that was when Gabriel fronted the bend. As is probably well known around here now, cannot stand Collins and his music at all, including the corporate 80s crap that Patrick Bateman liked so much.
They never did anything for me really

I loved Turn It On Again, also liked Jesus He Knows Me and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway but that's about it really

The Lamb Lies Down... is a great song, Turn It On Again is OK but Jesus He Knows Me is commercial tosh

Not a fan of the Peter Gabriel era to be honest, although i like some of his solo work, particularly the So album.

Much prefer Genesis with Phil Collins on vocals, Invisible Touch was a great album.
