idk...I enjoyed Gaga alot more before everyone was whoring her up.

You sound like me when I was saying to all the new Nirvana fans... "where the fukk were you lot when the first album came out on Sub Pop and only a few thousand peeps bought it, bloody bandwagon jumpers...."  We always do that with an act we "discover", we tend to get very possessive....

You're gonna so hate me now for what I'm about to say...... :P

After recommendations/nagging from Katherine and one or two others, I downloaded The Fame the other day..... And, shockingly, I found I actually quite like this, it's got guts, humour and a fair bit of individuality to it, I gotta hand it to her..... Which some of you will probably be utterly gobsmacked to hear... Well, put it this way, if Lady GaGa can convince a dyed-in-the-wool Metal/Alternative/Goth/Punk/Industrial hater of all things manufactured and mainstream nutter like me, well, sh!t there really IS no stopping her from potentially achieving utter world domination......

She's the 'Anti-Coldplay' (or Anti-Chris just to take the metaphor a bit further).... :P  So, that already gets her my vote....

I think I just died of surprise and shock (and possibly a little awe) :o

I can understand that.... I know I seem a highly unlikely GaGa convert... But, I like her for the same reasons I liked Madonna, Deborah Harry and Cyndi Lauper.... She's got BALLS and a spark of individuality, and I do kinda like that whole "New York" attitude thing that she and the aforementioned acts had.... She is her own creation, it certainly appears that no bugger 'manufactured' her as such.... Anyone who cites David Bowie as an influence is pretty cool in my book also....

Agreed. But then her list of influences also includes Ace Of Base. Still I think it's really cool you gave her a chance :)

Finally, this is why pretty much everyone has been raving about her for so long. I'm sure someone on here compared her to Madonna when the album first leaked. She's far more than your average pop star and comparing her to the likes of the Saturdays is almost an insult. She has writing credits on all of her songs and she has written for other artists too.

I can see what people mean with people around them acting like it's all new when it's been around for ages. It's one of those things with following music on sites like this. In my house it takes about two months for a song to go from chart success to being recognised by my family, they're only just saying "Broken Strings is great innit". I expect to hear "do you like that Just Dance song?" in a few weeks time and I'll say "yes and I have done since June or July". I dunno, it feels kinda good to be that ahead of the times sometimes but also annoying and I'm far from one of the most ahead of the times person on Buzzjack. It must be worse for the people who actually listened to her when the first single was posted here in late April.

Im not quite sure why but Just Dance always seemed to escape me until about November, so i was probably the last person on BJ to hear it.

Jesus christ Grimy likes GaGa, not something i thought id ever see.

I've liked Gaga since last February / January, and I'm not angry (a year now :o)? I'm glad she's gotten the success she's deserved.

Though I do miss the headscarves. :(

Me too TBH. Maybe I heard it sometime in Summer actually but it didn't really grab me. In fact, it didn't until I heard Poker Face which I immediately loved, and it made me appreciate Just Dance more. To be honest I think that Colby O'Donis kind of ruins it... I like it better now I've seen her do it on TV and know more about her too.

Yeah, totally with you on that one, I can relate... I remember back in the days when Nirvana were making the breakthrough with their second album (which all the bandwagon jumpers thought was the first....) "Nevermind"... People saying "Wow, what a great debut album"......  Me and my mates were just like "WTF??????" and wasted no time in putting them straight..... when you're one of the original fans and been listening to summat for ages, it's kind of annoying in a way to have loads of other people horning in, as I say, you feel a bit possessive, also, I remember all the bandwagon jumpers with Goldfrapp as well.... I didn't so much mind the bandwagon jumpers with Nirvana when they headlined Reading, they got to know all the old songs from 'Bleach', and weren't just shouting out for stuff from "Nevermind", but the some of the tw@ts at the last Goldfrapp show I went to a few years back didn't half irritate me..... Particulary when they started jabbering away through the stuff on "Felt Mountain", it was clear they didn't have a fukkin' clue about the early material....

Oooh I must hear the 'Cherrytree Sessions' :o

I loved her acoustic version of 'Pokerface'!

I'm not ANGRY about it at all, I'm just saying. She's still a great artist...I just liked her more when it just wasn't the popular thing.

idk, I'm weird.

On a similar note, what annoys me is I played 'Just Dance' to a few people I know in the summer and they were like "meh, it's nothing special", and now those same people are like "wow, this is so good" now it's everywhere, so annoying.
#5 in Oz this week; 12-13-14-11-11-07-09-11-07-09-10-11-12-09-08-05-05-05-05-04-05-
I liked this album, apart from Starstruck and Disco Heaven (:puke2:).

I can't stand the "Oh, Disco Heaven!" bit. :(

The Cherrytree Sessions leaked :D Eh Eh is really nice...but I kind of wish the beat boxer wasn't there and it was just the electric piano.
