Posted April 30, 200916 yr Coldplay are rumoured to be taking a radical new direction in the studio - they've been toying with rave music. It's said that a drum machine purchased by drummer Will Champion is to blame for the band's new experimental side, which sees Chris Martin and Co. ditching their usual soft-rock ballads for fast-tempo dance tracks. An insider tells The Sun: "The lads are still on a creative roll in the studio and Will is bringing lots of ideas to the table." "He's got a new drum machine and has been having a lot of fun pushing it to its limits. His most recent offering is turbo-charged, to say the least, but the lads have been having a great time working with it." Champion is also flirting with jazz music according to the source, who reveals: "Will has got a track in seven-four time that he's working on. It's only the most adventurous of jazz people who compose anything with such an irregular beat." Coldplay are working on the follow-up to "Viva La Vida" with producer Brian Eno and it is expected in 2010. The band will soon be touring North America, before returning to the UK for their large outdoor events in September. Tickets are still on sale for their shows in Manchester, Glasgow and London - with support from Jay-Z and Girls Aloud.
