May 4, 200916 yr The difference is Gaga has ALWAYS been this way; the Saturdays are talking of suddenly adopting the sexy image halfway through their career because they've yet to have a #1. One of their number has already admitted she wasn't initially comfortable with it, it's all FAKERY and DESPERATION.
May 4, 200916 yr 10% warning for having a sense of humour ? how f***ed up :( I know! There was hardly any posts on there other than a what song are you listening to or the chat inc.
May 4, 200916 yr The Saturdays, if they wanted, would have just as much (or as little) right to be arrogant fools as GaGa does, but thankfully they show gratification rather than contempt for their place in the industry. Scoff all you like, call me a Saturdays loon (no doubt that'll form a part of your next, wildly inaccurate attack) but there's no arguing with that. Finally, why would I be getting at GaGa if I didn't believe what I was saying? My god, I played (parts of) her (patchy) album to death! Please think before you type. [/size] The Saturdays aren't arrogant because they have no right to be.... They've nothing of any interest to say, they have no personality..... They are BORING... Ga Ga is anything BUT..... The genuinely great artists have often been at odds with the Industry, right on down from John Lennon, Jim Morrison, through Johnny Rotten, Joe Strummer, Prince, Kurt Cobain, Richie Edwards, etc, etc seeing it as a necessary evil at best... The likes of Alison Moyet were treated appallingly by the music industry, as was Shirley Manson a year or two back who had her debut solo album shelved on the most spurious of reasons.... Just why SHOULD artists be grateful to an Industry which clearly treats genuine talent with such contempt....? I'd much rather Ga Ga be a gobby, full of herself (but very talented with it) individual, rather than just doing the same old boring cr@p that everyone else does..... Put it this way, you wont see Ga Ga kissing the arse of Cowell or Walsh.... And I've no problem with the way she acts on chat shows, she's ACTING, playing a role..... I dont believe half of the stuff that Marilyn Manson came away with either, because he is/was also PLAYING A ROLE....
May 4, 200916 yr Exactly, Leona like Alex Burke is highly talented KARAOKE singer, when she starts writing her own material and producing her songs I will think differently but until then.... Why? Singing and songwriting are two completely different talents, not everyone is going to possess the ability to do both. I wouldn't expect an actor to have written the script they're acting and I wouldn't expect a singer to have written the songs they're singing. If they have then it's an added bonus. Especially for someone such as Leona, she clearly has a good voice and a decent singer. She might not be the most respected of singers as she doesn't necessarily mean what she's saying, it means more to someone else, but I see no reason why it can't be enjoyed. The reason she differs from the likes of The Saturdays or even Girls Aloud is that as good as they can be, anyone could do it. You could line up 5 of my mates from uni, put them in a recording studio with all the latest technolgy to make their voices sound better and the end result could be just as good as anything the Saturdays have made...
May 4, 200916 yr And I've no problem with the way she acts on chat shows, she's ACTING, playing a role..... Playing the role of... a bore? I'm afraid that makes no sense. You're delluding yourself if you think the 'personality' we see on chat shows is some great piece of fakery intended to fool the mere normals of this world. She's just a bore.

One of their number has already admitted she wasn't initially comfortable with it, it's all FAKERY and DESPERATION. SPOT ON.... They're attempting to play a role they are clearly uncomfortable with... Square peg, round holes anyone....? Still, I doubt Ga Ga even gives a sh!t really, The Crapadays probably dont even register on her triple-platinum selling radar.......  And even if they did, she'd probably just quietly snigger into her teacup in the same manner as she no doubt did when those pics of Paris Hilton in her Ga-Ga via Geordi La Forge from Star Trek TNG "outfit".......
May 4, 200916 yr She's yet to hit single platinum in most regions of the world... :heehee: The Saturdays' album has sold nearly as much as hers!
May 4, 200916 yr THIS IS GETTING OUT OF PROPORTION! WT... BTW, copying GaGa's limelight is like ripping off her style imo. Edited May 4, 200916 yr by FMbassador11

I dont believe half of the stuff that Marilyn Manson came away with either, because he is/was also PLAYING A ROLE.... Actually she has said in an interview that she absolutely adorers Simon Cowell. She loves everyone, (stupid fake Americans) she has no personality she is like any other high school cheerleader, except her she dresses to make herself look unflattering. She is by no means sexy.

Which is the whole point really.... It just dont make it special or individual, and, sorry, but I just dont want to hear it.... ANYONE could be The Saturdays or GA, but not ANYONE could be, say, Joy Division, Morrissey or Madonna, know what I mean....?
May 4, 200916 yr BTW, copying GaGa's limelight is like ripping off her style imo. And GaGa is um... a total stranger to that... :heehee: This is silly anyway. This thread was made so that Rob could further his secret-liking-for-the-saturdays complex, and who are we to stop him pretending to hate on them? We know the love is there really.

ANYONE could be The Saturdays or GA, but not ANYONE could be, say, Joy Division, Morrissey or Madonna, know what I mean....? well i couldn't be The Saturdays or GA as I'm a man, although i can sing it just wouldn't be right. Lots of people in the world could be as talented as Morrissey etc. they just don't know it and haven't tried.

She co-produced the album, and look she WRITTEN the songs such as melodies, lyrics etc which is something 'The Saturdays' have yet to do. The fact she's had two Worldwide number ones whilst 'The Saturdays' failed to even get a dire cover for charity to number one says it all really. Ive yet to see 'The Saturdays' give any performance have as good as any of Gaga's, so more someone to say The Sats have more talent is even more of a joke than Euoghan Twigs floptastic single.
May 4, 200916 yr Most great actors have produced or directed or written too Yes, and most great singers have too. But that doesn't have to mean the likes of Leona or even The Saturdays won't in the future. As they spend more time in the business, surrounded by people who write and produce their songs they'll pick up tips and ideas which then enables them to be more creative in regards to their own output in the future. I don't suppose these 'most great actors' you mention had wirtten and directed the films/tv they made at the start of their career. They'll have learnt throughout their career how things are done, become more experienced and then been competent enough to do it themselves...
May 4, 200916 yr Most great actors have produced or directed or written too They certainly have - Robert De Niro, George Clooney and, god, even Ben AFFLECK (who actually, as it turned out, was about 50 times better behind the camera than in front of it....). Affleck and Matt Damon also wrote Good Will Hunting....
May 4, 200916 yr well i couldn't be The Saturdays or GA as I'm a man, although i can sing it just wouldn't be right. Well quite. You'd be in Westlife or A1 or some other utterly talentless boyband from yesteryear...
May 4, 200916 yr Lots of people in the world could be as talented as Morrissey etc. they just don't know it and haven't tried. But there is no one who would actually have his unique turn of phrase.... And plenty have certainly tried mate.. Neil Hannon's been indirectly trying to be the 'Irish Moz' for pretty much all of his career...... And while Hannon's good in his own right, he doesn't quite have Moz's gift for wordsmithery.... And all these bloody Emos out there who claim to be influenced by Moz, Robert Smith and others, are just a joke.....
