May 4, 200916 yr As they spend more time in the business, surrounded by people who write and produce their songs they'll pick up tips and ideas which then enables them to be more creative in regards to their own output in the future. And, er, what makes you think that mate.... The likes of Mariah, Whitney, etc have been in the Industry for years with minimal output (if any) in their own material, Girls Aloud have co-written about a total of five or six songs throughout their entire eight year career, Xenomania pretty much do EVERYTHING for GA, and always have, if GA ever put out a good tune it was down to Xenomania far more than GA themselves...... So, that doesn't necessarily track..... The point is, Lady Ga Ga, with her DEBUT ALBUM has been responsible for creating far more of her own music and her own image than any other Mainstream pop act in the past five years or so...... The sort of musical sophistication, confidence and eclecticism that's evident on The Fame generally doesn't make itself known until an artist is on their second or even third album..... Only the likes of Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky or Goldfrapp have made quite such a statement of intent with a debut.....

Only the likes of Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky or Goldfrapp have made quite such a statement of intent with a debut..... I'm sure what I said is true, but it doesn't mean that they WILL do so. I'm sure Mariah probably could do something with slightly more artistic merit that what she's produced in the past but she's chosen not to and still sells a lot of records. Just because singers in the past have chosen not to do something doesn't mean singers of the present and the future won't either....
May 4, 200916 yr Lady GaGa isn't exactly innovative in her music, she just uses a lot of old sounds and puts them together to sound new. Yes, she does, as do the likes of Ladytron, Interpol and Client, but like them, Ga Ga does not do so LITERALLY like a "painting by numbers" kit..... She uses the combinations in her own way.... Leona Lewis is just an all-too-fukkin' LITERAL copycat of Mariah Carey..... With nothing of herself in the music..... And The Saturdays are just so boringly generic as to be unreal....
May 4, 200916 yr I'm sure Mariah probably could do something with slightly more artistic merit that what she's produced in the past but she's chosen not to and still sells a lot of records. She hasn't done so in the best part of 20 years mate, I have no reason to believe that she's suddenly gonna turn into a Kate Bush or PJ Harvey if you know what I mean....
May 4, 200916 yr I don't know what you're talking about - Mariah has the main credit on the majority of her songs and also actively produces. She gets very stuck into the process...
May 4, 200916 yr Her's how here album is credited. Just Dance - Written by GaGa, Produced by RedOne LoveGame - same as above Paparazzi - Written by GaGa and Rob Fusari, Produced by Rob Fusari Beautiful Dirty Rich - same as above Eh Eh - Written by GaGa, produced by Martin Kierszenbaum Poker Face - same as Just Dance The Fame - Same as Eh Eh Money Honey - Written by GaGa, produced by RedOne and Bilal Hajji Again Again - same as Paparazzi Boys Boys Boys - same as Just Dance Brown Eyes - same as Paparazzi Summerboy - written by GaGa, Produced by Brian Kierulf and Josh Schwartz I Like it Rough - same as Eh Eh Starstruck - Written by Lady Gaga, Produced by Kierszenbaum, Nick Dresti, Tramar Dillard Paper Gangst - Written and produced by RedOne Disco Heaven - written and produced by Fusari and Tom Kafafian I'm betting you got that lot from Wikipedia... Well, something to bear in mind, Wiki doesn't credit Lars Ulrich of Metallica for being very actively involved in co-producing "Death Magnetic", so beware when you choose to believe what Wiki says......
May 4, 200916 yr But if the music of The Saturdays and Leona sells, where are we to judge. Anyway i think we should all agree to disagree, music is all about personal tastes and as people are different they are going to like different things. What annoys me is that bloke from the Enemy thinks his music is the best and the most credible in the chart atm because it's guitar music. Which is total rubbish don't you think?

May 4, 200916 yr What annoys me is that bloke from the Enemy thinks his music is the best and the most credible in the chart atm because it's guitar music. Which is total rubbish don't you think? Well, The Enemy is not the best band around.
May 4, 200916 yr What annoys me is that bloke from the Enemy thinks his music is the best and the most credible in the chart atm because it's guitar music. Which is total rubbish don't you think? Well, yeah, cos The Enemy are just total sh!t......  "Guitar music" is no more instantly credible than music written on keyboard or a piano... Or, hell, even a bloody digeridoo...... Actually, one question that we should ask EnemyBloke - "Do you guys write using music notation or guitar tablature....?". If he answered in the latter, then he's certainly NOT as musically credible as Lady Ga Ga, who can read sheet music, and writes all her songs using the proper musical notation on a piano.....
May 4, 200916 yr What was said in that report was blatantly tongue in cheek. As if they're actually gunning for GaGa? Mollie jokes around like that all the time in the "flip" videos on the official site. I see this is just another way for the Anti's to get their digs in. I think you'll find that the girls have been 'stripping off' for quite some time. They haven't covered themselves up from the beginning, they've always been kind of raunchy. Not only that, They did an FHM shoot last year, The wardrobe for the JCGE video was hardly jumpers and leg warmers & the video for 'Work' is being shot abroad, so they're obviously going to have less on. And how they are desperate is beyond me, they've had singles chart at 8-5-4-2 respectively and their album has gone at least Gold. They have a 24 date UK tour which is starting to sell out, so people are actually investing their money in them. They have signed deals with Veet and Rare Clothing, Desperate is one word that you can't use to describe them.
May 4, 200916 yr So, Sats are changing their style before the second album, cool. :) Nah mate, their RECORD LABEL is changing their image..... This aint like The Horrors making a conscious musical decision with their second album to evolve their approach and style and take their music in a pretty unique and different direction; this is purely "oh, $h!t, Ga Ga is totally pishing on us and we'll be left totally behind if we dont very quickly jump on the bandwagon"..... Cynical.... By the same token though, I had a hard time taking Pantera seriously when they very suddenly changed from being a poodle-permed, coiffured, poncey LA Glam Metal outfit into the "tats and piercings" Powerhouse Metallers they became when the Glam Metal suddenly became incredibly unpopular thanks to Grunge.....
May 4, 200916 yr She's yet to hit single platinum in most regions of the world... :heehee: The Saturdays' album has sold nearly as much as hers! Just Dance = Most downloaded single by a female ever in the USA (3xPlatinum) and still selling, 3xPlatinum in AUS, Platinum in the UK and NZ Poker Face = 2xPlatinum in USA and still selling well, 3xPlatinum in AUS, 2xPlatinum in NZ, soon-to-be-Platinum in UK and still selling well, Platinum in Sweden I don't know where to get other certs but PF has got #1 around the globe. The Fame Sales = UK ~ 425,550 - WW ~ 1,968,000 and it's still selling strong. Now what have the Sats got? Edited May 4, 200916 yr by Bibliotheque
May 4, 200916 yr This is a bit of a petty argument, don't you think. I seriously doubt, The Saturdays are coming out and saying, they're copying Lady Gaga's style. They're allowed a sexy video without it being a Gaga rip-off, surely?! I believed when I read this, that it was a tongue-in-cheek sort of comment.
May 4, 200916 yr Now what have the Sats got? Nowhere near 2 mil I'm betting..... Seems to me like The Fame is selling as rapidly as Metallica's "Death Magnetic" in a lot of ways..... It took them only a matter of a few months to get to 3 mil, these days, it's gotten to about over 4, maybe 4.5..... So, this argument about debut albums not really selling very much because the act has yet to establish itself, yadda, yadda, which was the excuse that Sats fans used for "Chasing Lights" poor showing..... I was criticised for comparing Chasing Lights sales to Death Magnetic, "an inappropriate comparison" was what was bleated, when I merely made the comparison because I was of being labelled an "elitist" or being purely into "obscure" music.... Well, let's see if the same holds true for compaing CL to 'The Fame' then, eh...?
May 4, 200916 yr i think he meant UK sales, OK they are less, but not by much. Lady GaGa had a lot more backing than the sats with already established artists like akon helping her out. And imo CL is a much better all round album than The Fame. Edited May 4, 200916 yr by Steve69

Why the fukk even mention Ga Ga in the interview then.....? It just seems to me like everyone out there's wanting a piece of her, and coming up with these stupid comments, namechecking her rather needlessly and pointlessly... A bit like all these third rate tossers who went around carping on about "girl power" back in the mid-90s.... LAME......

We've found a commun enemy everyone! Edited May 4, 200916 yr by Bibliotheque
May 4, 200916 yr i think he meant UK sales, OK they are less, but not by much. Well, I wasn't... When I think of a band's sales, I think GLOBAL mate, not just in one particular territory.... I view that as pointless because so many acts out there do better in Europe and US than they do here, Depeche Mode, Metallica and The Prodigy being three examples I can think of off the top of my head, a lot of Metal bands like Within Temptation do extremely well in Continental Europe also, but when they release stuff here, it's always a limited success..... To slightly borrow from Morrissey - "Britain is not the world.."
