Here we go, on another round up of as many charts we can get on one thread. It`s the Friday fest of charts with top films, dvds, tv, books, games, albums, the flashback...and of course back later for the most up to date Singles chart, anywhere!

HANNAH MONTANA gets £2,030,657, and GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST £976,780.

Well, we are into the 20th series of Have I Got News For You...a series that is probably the best thing on tv. Less said of Reggie Perrin...rehashing old sitcoms, NO!! If anyone ever saw the American version of the original "Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin"...you`d know why. The early 80s U.S. version of the late Leonard Rossiter classic, actually comes across as the new Martin Clunes version. In the U.S. series, Reggie becomes Reggie Potter. The scripts were pretty much carbon copies of the BBC 70s original. The Americans didn`t like it much. It was cancelled after 6 episodes. Richard Mulligan (who played Burt Campbell in Soap) played the ill-fated Reggie...and the bloke that played Reggie`s boss "C.J" was about 20 years younger than Reggie himself!

Now 1981`s tv had the early Ken Barlow dating of one Deidrie Langton...28 years later Ken seems to be heading another love triangle, what a virile man Ken is! Sitcoms galore with ARE YOU BEING SERVED...on it`s 8th series, and this one had to unfortunately replace the great Trevor Bannister (appearing in Last Of The Summer Wine, here in 2009), with Mike Berry. BUTTERFLIES hit series 3 with Wendy Craig heading towards the menopause...and the triangle of Ben/Ria/Leonard...and an early ouying for Nicholas Lyndhurst. ONLY WHEN I LAUGH was also on series 3, the sitcom set on a hospital ward based around class with James Bolam (almost recreating the Likely Lads character of Terry Collier, while becoming Roy Figgis). Peter Bowles appearing in 2 stcoms similtaneously (who was also in TO THE MANOR BORN of course). In ONLY WHEN I LAUGH, he played snob Archie Glover...and there was Christopher Strauli as Mother`s boy "Norman Bins". Not forgetting Richard Wilson as resident doctor "Gordon Thorpe", and Derrick Branche as the marvellous houseman "Gupte". The other sitcom (on Fridays ITV at 8.30pm) was THE OTHER `ALF with Lorraine "No Luton Airport" Chase as she knock around with John Standing (who played the upper class MP Charles Latimer). We had the crime solving in HART TO HART, and the CI5 in THE PROFESSIONALS...Sundays for HART TO HART, and Fridays for THE PROFESSIONALS. Some people thought CANNON AND BALL were funny...I didn`t! "Rock On, Tommy!" Defecting Russians in AVALANCHE EXPRESS was a film starring Lee Marvin, Robert Shaw, and Linda Evans...based on the novel by Colin Forbes. DIAMONDS was an ATV drama series about a chappy who takes over a diamond merchants, when his father died...JOHN STRIDE played FRANK COLEMAN in this. Tottenham played Man City in the F.A. Cup Final. The match went to a replay after a 1 - 1 draw...the first to do so, in 11 years. Tottenham eventually won 3 - 2. Ricky Villa, and Garth Crooks got the goals for Spurs, and Steve Mackenzie & Kevin Reeves got the goals for Man City. WHERE THERES LIFE was a factual series with Dr Miriam Stoppard and Rob Buckman...following 2 other series "Don`t Ask Me", & "Don`t Just Sit There" that both featured the late Magnus Pyke. WHERE THERE`S LIFE was a bit more series, and featured true stories in the world of medicine, with programmes on Alcoholism, Smoking, and Cot Death. Top Of The Pops was on better days, as Peter Powell hosted this edition that kicked off with Kim Wilde. Peter`s real name was actually Peter James Barnard-Powell, who originally came from Birmingham. Starting on BBC Radio Birmingham when he was just 19 in 1970. He did a short spell at Radio One in 1972, then quickly moved to Radio Luxembourg. In 1977, he was back on Radio One until 1988. Having relationships with both Janice Long (who actually was one of the first winners as a ordinary contestant on 3-2-1 in 1978), and Anthea Turner...whom he married and divorced. Anthea got around didn`t she! She even knocked about with Bruno Brookes, you know...The top 40 connection continued as Peter, carried a resume of the new chart on his early evening show from 1981-84. He took over Tony Blackburn`s Saturday/Sunday Breakfast shows in Sept 1984. Then he formed the company Worldpop.com later, which sponsored the Top 40 during Mark Goodier`s reign until 2001. Strange enough, Mark Goodier took over Peter`s Saturday/Sunday shows in 1988 when Peter left Radio One! Talk about those strange connections, what?!

10 straight weeks at the top for Mr Adam Ant...and still 2 more to come. This kept Stevie Wonder off the top for 5 weeks. GARY NUMAN was looking back to his days in 79/80...and still beating off his addiction to toast! SHAKIN`STEVENS couldn`t meet the success of the single. SPANDAU BALLET were up and down, after peaking at #3. NEIL DIAMOND released "The Jazz Singer" in November 1980, he peaked at #4 and spent the rest of 1981 on a seesaw too. K-TEL were heading the Compilation market with Chartbusters 81...featuring the likes of Toyah, StarSound, Shakin`Stevens, and Madness. We got heavy with GILLAN, WHITESNAKE, and STIFF LITTLE FINGERS (who are still playing well in 2009, as seen a couple of weeks ago). BARRY MANILOW was going up again...following the single "Bermuda Triange"...it make`s people disappear, you know! Post-punk with A CERTAIN RATIO...MARTIN MOSCROP and JEREMY KERR actually still performing with the band formed out of Manchester in 1977. The band took their name from a Brian Eno song "The True Wheel". Actually the quote of "A Certain Ratio" came from Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler relating to the proportion of a person who had Jewish blood. More punk from THE EXPLOITED and if you can stand the song "Dead Cities"...then you are a better man than me! Little known fact...People say whatever happen to THE BEAT? Well, of course remaining members were joined by Roland Gift in 1985 to form the Fine Young Cannibals.

Ant Mania was certainly the name of the game in 1981, as Mr Goddard topped the lot. STARSOUND out of Holland got a medweek number 1 on the previous week. Shakin Stevens got his 2nd top tenner. Madness got their 6th. ENNIO MORRICONE also topped the MRIB Top 50...with the theme to BBC TV Series "The Life And Times Of David Lloyd George". Down for Buck`s Fizz...the 2nd Eurovision winner for the UK in 5 years. Actually in that 1981 qualifier "The Song For Europe" show...Other group Liquid Gold performed. They were beaten by Buck`s Fizz, but by then the sound of Liquid Gold was just a little bit "samey". CAN YOU FEEL IT...sang the Jacksons, which took some 10 weeks to reach that high of #7. The song was re-worked by the Tamperer some years later, and chimneys became involved! Good time reggae with SUGAR MINOTT. The Nolans were still going strong, and `81 was a good year for them. TENPOLE TUDOR smashed up into the top 10, and Mr TudorPole emerged years later in the Crystal Maze. SPANDAU BALLET were definately at their best in the early days for me...then all the slushy stuff came. For me, never the same after "True". Kim Wilde got her 2nd hit and climbed 24 places. There was a rumour circulating that Kim was one of the voices behind a 1980 hit by Pauline Murray and the Invisible Girls entitled "Mr X"...this proved to be untrue! REO SPEEDWAGON finally got to the top ten with "Keep On Loving You".

Keith Marshall (ex-Hello) had a solo hit. The STRAY CATS under Brian Seltzer had another hit. Eddy Grant got a bit repetitive on "Can`t Get Enough Of You". The F.A. Cup gave us the annual soccer hit when "Ossies knees went all trembley"...with Ossie Ardilles. Quincy Jones was getting on, but still poured out the fantastic sound with disco smash "Ai No Corrida". More rock in the singles chart with Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Saxon, Graham Bonnet, and Gillan. Department S appeared on Noel Edmonds "Golden Egg Awards" in 1981 helping them into the top 40...as Noel, Maggie, Keith, and John all teamed up to bring us "I Wanna Be A Winner"...they had to wait, for the hit that followed in January 1982 as The Multi Coloured Swap Shop finally bit the dust after 5 and a bit years. Noel re-surfaced in September 1982 though with ill-fated "The Late Late Breakfast Show"...which actually became the replacement Saturday night show for the Generation Game, after the BBC had approached Jimmy Tarbuck to take over from Larry Grayson (who quit the Generation Game at the end of the 1981 series). Jimmy Tarbuck however, declined the proposal to continue hosting ITV`s "Winner Takes All", for a further 5 years. JULIAN COPE got a 2nd hit with Teardrop Explodes. The Human League were sounding quite new on the "Sound Of The Crowd", although they formed in 1978. Feargal Sharkey was still leading the Undertones, for the moment. The Whispers gave us more disco, as Japan finally got a minor hit. As Stevie Wonder crashed down with "Lately", Toyah bubbled outside the 40 with "I Want To Be Free", and "Careless Memories" was about to be Duran Duran`s 2nd hit single at a paltry #37! Also in the top 50 lurked the Shadows doing their version of the "Third Man" theme. Along with Juice Newton doing her version of "Angel Of The Morning". The Clash gave us "The Magnificent Seven", and even Elvis sneaked in with "Loving Arms" Bill Haley sadly passed away aged 55 on 9th Feb 1981. Bill was blind in his left eye following a botched eye operation as a child. He was a self-confesses alcoholic, and passed away from a Brain tumour. His last performances were for a Command Performance for the Queen in 1979, and a tour of Africa followed in May/June 1980. The reason I brought up Bill, was because he was also in the top 50 with "Bill Haley`s Golden Medley".

) Position without downloads alone. Also without downloads alone 35 Steve Appleton, 36 Maccabees, 37 Enemy, 38 Kid Cudi, 39 K.I.G, 40 Tinchy/Taio.

= Position on Chart Show tv.

Tinchy gets ahead of La Roux by 4,600 at this time. Steve Appleton`s "Dirty Funk" will probably sneak into the 50 by Sunday...and Maximo Park will fall out. Not sure what`s going on with this Chani song...are OCC going to include it? Don`t know. We have and it is just outside the 50. The Maccabees are also slipping out of the 50, and Enemy, Kid Cudi, K.I.G, Eminem "3am", Tinchy/Taio..the Paparazzi is at 58 for GaGa. In the top 70 there is more Eminem as Old Time`s Sake nudges in, as does Ciara`s "Turntables". Also in the 70 are Taylor Swift on her guitar, and Kelly Clarkson doesn`t hook up...I got hooked up on a coat hanger once! The Knack are still in there, and Bat For Lashes...it`s top 75 for Hurt - Johnny Cash, and Miley & Ray are at 75...as Run, and Leona runs out of the top 75 for the first time in 6 months!

NOTE: These are not Official charts. They don`t make so many Typos, B-rye! Don`t you believe it...they do, and they even employ proofreaders, I don`t! The Chart is based on Chart Show tv`s, but with added sales to make it the most up to date chart in Britain.

05 DID YOU SEE ME CRYING - PET SHOP BOYS 1st June

Coming.

Does whoever makes this misspell these things on purpose?

There seems to be about 1 mistake per 5 lines.

Sorry B-rye...Hopefully "Crying" won`t be the case, when PSBs enter the chart, ay! A case of thinking ahead, there!

I love all the non movers in the top 40 chart, I think I counted about 10 in the official chart today, the science bit on Radio 1 on Sunday is going to be hilarious. If they still end up as non movers.

Thanks Dave

Is Jade Ewen anywhere near the top 100?

It`s quite astounding Martin! The biggest amount ever. I had the misfortune to listen to Richard Clarke last week, on Hit40uk. He announced at the top of the show, "this week there are 2 new entries, and 11 stay the same!" I thought, why don`t they just repeat last week`s show!

She`s not far from the top 80, Tom...Over on the HMV Download top 100, she is #34! How about that?!

Wow, wish they had a bigger market share! Thanks!

Is Pokemon Platinum charting on Pre-orders made in the last 7 days as its not out yet? (And thanks for taking on the games chart like i suggested :P)

And i know i've asked this a couple of times but its not been answered the last time - remind me, are the single/album pre-orders only those placed in the last 7 days rather than their total pre-orders? Thanks in advance Dave/other knowledgable person! :)

Pokemon Platinum is on pre-orders, you are right. Not released until 22nd May. Not quite sure why it was include on pre-orders alone. That must be a mistake by the research team. I wondered why there was a #11 listed on the print-out (Little Big Planet was listed at 11, so that`s the answer to that).

Single pre-orders, I have been playing around with. Mainly because I also decided to include the download tracks, (that are already available to buy) in with the physical pre-orders chart. It does cover a Saturday - Friday 7 day period. Although, when compiling the Fresh Hits Chart (for Tom) we cover 8 days (Sat - Sat)...that can push singles that are released on the following Monday. If we leave out the download tracks, all we`d get is a physical pre-order chart. Not much good these days, as Girls Aloud ended up the physical number one last week. Even when we added the download tracks, it was slightly out because we charted the girls at #7 (4 spots higher, than they made). We do a mathematical equation to estimate the rough sale of an up and coming release for that, and then take a current sales top 50 (inserting pre-orders plus a sales estimation).

Album pre-orders, were once the total pre-orders. Then after the release of Alexandra Burke`s album was put back (to October), I put them at 7 days too. Overall Alexandra still tops the Album pre-orders, and has done since January!
