Polly Jean Harvey is one of the most individual and influential songwriters of the '90s, exploring themes of sex, love, and religion with unnerving honesty and dark humour.

Are any of you fans of this highly critically acclaimed artist; or do you think the Great British public are correct in ignoring her Patti Smith, Siouxsie Sioux; Kate Bush-isms?

The "Great British Public" by and large wouldn't recognise a truly great Female Artist if she bit them in the arse frankly..... PJ is one of our greatest artists of the past 20 years, it's really quite astounding to think that she's been around since '92, I remember seeing an early show of hers in Glasgow way back during this period..... Most artists would've lost their edge a bit by now, but PJ doesn't seem to have really had a really "bad" patch, even when she was doing that more commercial stuff....

The fact that she's never bowed to overt commerciality and actually done a "Best Of" album yet, is really quite commendable, but ironically, she's probably one of the few artists who would genuinely justify it considering her pretty formidable back-catalogue.....

"Down By The Water" used to be on rotation on MTV (when MTV was European and was ONE music channel).

She isn't my bag but I do like that particular track.

Agree with Rob, the 90's music scene is a bit of a blur for me
To Bring You My Love is an absolutely amazing album. Full of great tunes and a real sense of menace and foreboding behind the tunes. Probably something to do with Nick Cave being her beaux at the time.
