This came up in conversation the other day and we struggled to think of many concrete examples in the UK (Rihanna's GGGB would be a good example in the USA). There can't be many recent examples with single sales falling through the floor and it must have been more prevalent in the 80s/90s. So setting a benchmark, how many examples are there of:

Album selling 1m

Multiple singles from it selling 500k or more

Spice Girls - "Spice" and "Spiceworld" comes to mind.

Oasis - "What's The Story (Morning Glory)" too which I'm sure had multiple big sellers from the album.

Assuming multiple is more than two rather than two or more the only thing I can think of recently is possibly 'Beautiful World', but then 'Rule the World' came out before it was put on it...
Lady GaGa's The Fame hasn't and probably never will sell a million, but it has two 600k+ singles taken off it, both of which reached the milestone at around the twenty week mark.
i think if album sales pick up near the end of the year, when Lady GaGa is releasing a deluxe version it could well go over the million mark and probably with another 500k song.

Leona Lewis Spirit

A Moment Like This

Bleeding Love

Run (on deleuxe)

Obvious one... :o

Kings Of Leon Only By The Night

Sex On Fire

Use Somebody

Omg, how did I forget that one

1.5mill (more than that now?) for the album and two massive singles, one being the most downloaded song ever in the UK.

^^ and the other is the second most i believe.

She's closing on 1/2 mil now, and if she can manage to still be selling well late in the year, 1m is not out of the question.

She's not selling well any more, I'm fairly sure she sold only around 10k this week. I might be wrong though...

EDIT: 18k. That's not hugely impressive.

What about Fever by Kylie? How much did 'In Your Eyes' and 'Love At First Sight' sell? Obviously the album sold about 1.6mill and CGYOOMY sold over a million.

Using the suggestions and looking through the list of biggest selling singles of the 2000s I think there are only three examples:

Leona - Spirit + 3 singles (A Moment Like This, Bleeding Love, Run)

Take That - Beautiful World + 2 singles (Patience, Rule The World - Shine only sold 350k)

Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night + 2 singles (Sex Is On Fire, Use Somebody)

Gareth Gates had two singles sell >500k from 1 album but the album sold around 600k so he's in the same boat as Lady GaGa. Shaggy had two singles sell >500k from Hot Shot but that also sold only around 600k.

Only Kylie's CGYOOMH sold more than >300k from the Fever album.

Was hoping to delve backwards - both of the first two Spice Girl albums have 3 singles >500k. Oasis WTSMG will be another if Some Might Say sold more than 500k as both Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger did.

Not sure Westlife qualify at all - their singles have never sold majorly with the only two over 500k in the UK (I Have A Dream/Seasons In The Sun and Uptown Girl) coming from different albums.

None of the singles sold over 500k. They biggest selling single is Clint Eastwood at around 480k.

Kylie by kylie minogue was a big seller with over 2 million sales: the singles sold:

I should be so lucky 670,000

Got to be certain 275,000

The loco-motion 440,000

je ne sais pas pour quoi 315,000
