This is all in this weeks NME btw. No album title or first single news yet though.

I just hope the album leaks a while before the 24th so I can get to know all the songs. :w00t:

Apparently so. 10 songs does seem a bit short as they have recorded 24. Guess it just means a LOT of B-sides!

I hope ten songs means this album will match the quality of the first two albums!

Liking the titles a lot :D

I find the titles a bit... odd? :( They just don't sound like Arctic Monkeys songs to me through the titles. Well, some do, but others don't
I know what you mean about the titles. 'Secret Door' and 'Pretty Visitors' definitely sound more LSP than Arctic Monkeys.

That's exactly what I was thinking!

I know some of the songs on the album are meant to be quite mellow and light, so maybe Alex has incoporated a bit of Last Shadow Puppets into Arctic Monkeys sound?

I guess so. It would be quite good to have some mellower songs, along with the Homme-produced heavier sounding ones.

I just hope the first single's a Brianstorm-type song.

Where's Go Kart btw? :o (unless they've changed the title) that was my favourite of the new ones!

^^ Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about 'Go Kart'! :o

I only listened to the songs about once so I can't really remember them that well. Maybe it'll be a b-side?

Srsly, Arctic Monkeys seem to be one of the only bands who still have about 3 B-sides for each single nowadays. Hopefully they'll keep it up for this album! :D

I think Go Kart will be a B-side (like I hope with Sandtrap).

With the decline on physical single sales, I definitely think that there will be 3/4 B-sides on every single in order to have more sales. Or they might even have some songs on a special download bundle or something. Even though we all know thye'll only release 3 singles at maximum!

They've already cranked out two albums' worth of snarly, bratty, ridiculously fun post-Britpop, and now the Arctic Monkeys have their third album loaded up and ready to go. This time, though, things are looking a bit different.

Domino will release the new Arctic Monkeys album on August 24 in the UK and August 25 in the U.S. The album doesn't have a title yet, but the tracklist is below.

The Sheffield band recruited two producers for the new LP. One of those is a familiar face: Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford, who co-produced the band's moderately rougher second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare. But the other producer screams "new direction": Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, who worked with the band in his Mojave Desert studio.

From Pitchfork.

We were granted a sneak preview of the band's third album, produced alongside Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme and James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, this morning, and can now impart the very slightest insight into its sound.

Frontman Alex Turner, fresh from his expansive forays in The Last Shadow Puppets, has retained that laconic croon, while his bandmates extol the same Scott Walker influences in the music, injecting the Arctics with a new sound that sends them onto wild soundscaping adventures. The confidence of the musicianship on show is stunning - they have completely defied any expectations or presumptions to explore the depths they can reach when stepping foot outside their accepted styles. Lyrically, Turner is his usual eloquent self, but has definitely graduated into an incomparable writer whose themes twist and turn through stories and allegories so potent and profound it actually leaves one breathless. Sloping organ patterns create a carnival-esque atmosphere across the album, but it's a spooky and ethereal trip, a lysergic cavalcade that haunts every track.

Arctic Monkeys will be previewing this new material when they headline Reading/Leeds Festival in August. The tracklisting for the album, released August 24 via Domino, looks like this:

'My Propeller'

'Crying Lightning'

'Dangerous Animals'

'Secret Door'

'Potion Approaching'

'Fire And The Thud'

'Cornerstone'

'Dance Little Liar'

'Pretty Visitors'

'The Jeweller's Hands'

Clash

Looks like the LSP sound will be incoporated into the new album then...

BREAKING NEWS: The title of the new album as I've just seen in their myspace bulletin is... Humbug!

A very summery title eh? :P

You just beat me to it Nicky! Just checked Facebook and found it out!

I dunno what to make of the title... it's a tad odd. I'd like to know the reasoning behind it though... as i'm sure do most people!

I'm pretty sure Secret Door is going to be the lead single. 80% anyway.

First single premiere shouldn't be too long away now either...
