Posted June 23, 200619 yr Match Thread I really think England could pull a surprise here on Sunday, without Owen it will be hard, but I think they should sail thru, Ecuador's defence, is a bit untidy in my opinion. If we do win, we face Portugal or Netherlands in the next round, I think.
June 23, 200619 yr I want England to play 4-1-4-1 vs Ecuador with this formation: Robinson Hargreaves Ferdinand (or Campbell) Terry A.Cole Carrick Beckham Lampard Gerrard J Cole Rooney
June 23, 200619 yr I want England to play 4-1-4-1 vs Ecuador with this formation: Robinson Hargreaves Ferdinand (or Campbell) Terry A.Cole Carrick Beckham Lampard Gerrard J Cole Rooney Please no Hargreaves at right back  . Every time the opposition broke down the left wing i'd be nervous. Carragher is much better there evn though he's being played out of position. I think they should start a 4-4-2 and see how long Rooney can last, as if they play 4-1-4-1 then when Rooney comes of they'll play Crouch on his tod and it will become a long ball game. I'd start with Rooney and Crouch and then see how long Crouch can last and then bring Walcott on.
June 24, 200619 yr I want England to play 4-1-4-1 vs Ecuador with this formation: Robinson Hargreaves Ferdinand (or Campbell) Terry A.Cole Carrick Beckham Lampard Gerrard J Cole Rooney That is what he's playing. Are you Sven in disguise? :arrr:
June 24, 200619 yr That is what he's playing. Are you Sven in disguise? :arrr: I know I heard the rumoured team this morning. I'm quite impressed. It leaves us with the opportunity of bringing on Crouch & Lennon in the later stages of the game if required. The only thing I have got incorrect is that Carragher will play instead of Ferdinand in Central Defence, if Rio is not fit in time.
June 24, 200619 yr I reckon it will be another tight match with Ecuador playing with 10 men behind the ball & trying to win via the counter-attack. I predict England 1v0 Ecuador (Goal in the 2nd half)
June 25, 200619 yr Author It's coming home, it's coming home Football coming home... 3 lions on the shirt... Go England :cheer: Only drawback if England win the next two matches and Brazil win their matches, England will meet the Brazilians in the semis, I guess they have to take each match as it comes first.
June 25, 200619 yr I reckon England are underestimating the Ecuadorian team, and the swealtering heat could be a burden. England will win, only just though.
June 25, 200619 yr It's coming home, it's coming home Football coming home... 3 lions on the shirt... Go England :cheer: Only drawback if England win the next two matches and Brazil win their matches, England will meet the Brazilians in the semis, I guess they have to take each match as it comes first. This country worries far too much about the opposition. We desperately wanted to win the group to avoid Germany, and many people are looking forward to the semi-finals against Brazil, we have to meet them at some point and I think if we last out till the semis without meeting a better side than ourselves we've done very well. I think we'll go out in the quarters though. -_-
June 25, 200619 yr I'm hoping we can do it... and for a good performance too so the rest of the world will take notice that we mean business ;) :dancing:
June 25, 200619 yr This game is so furstrating to watch. Any contact between the players, the ref blows for a foul. Beckham's set peices have been awful overall. Sometimes he can't even beat the first man. 4-5-1 doesn't look too great either. Rooney is getting real furstrated because he can't get the ball, and Gerrard and Lampard have hardly done anything. To play 4-5-1 you need to be patient but I don't think Rooney has the patience. I just hope that England can improve in the second half and cause Ecuador some big problems.
June 25, 200619 yr Mark Lawrenson is a ****wit, how can he blame Robbo when it was Terry's mistake  The game so far is very boring
June 25, 200619 yr Author Half Time Analysis from me England are just finding things a bit frustrating, it seems Rooney needs some help up front, I think they should have went 4-4-2, but I hope the second half livens up with a result in the second half.
