a world class dancer I'd understand but she's not, she's distinctly average.

 

But whatever. I'm never going to knowingly pay to see this 'entertainment', it's just a shame so many other people allow $h!t like this from artists.

But the thing is, she doesn't really dance or move fast these days. On this current tour she seems to mostly walk around the circle stage and shake her ass. She doesn't do much dancing that would actually restrict her from singing. It's a shame that the woman isn't even 30 can use the "she'll be too out of breath" excuse to get out of singing. She should be in her prime.

 

EXACTLY. It really is just pathetic that people are thinking that this is some kind of "sh!t hot" show when the realities are, that it ISN'T.... The "artist" who refuses to sing to her paying audience and then doesn't even bother with any kind of elaborate dance routines, is just showing contempt for that audience... It is utter PISH-TAKING.... And i dont think it should be an excuse just to say that "oh, Britney is an Entertainer", as if this is some kind of "get out of jail free" card.... UTTER, UTTER BOLLOX..... EVERY band, EVERY artist out there, regardless of what genre it is, is an "Entertainer", people go to a show, whether a Pop show, a Rock show, a Thrash Metal show or a sodding Ukrainian folk music show, to be "entertained".... I dont give a sh!t about genres here, the PRINCIPLE is that a live show is LIVE, end of story.....

 

A young woman, barely 30 should not be using these excuses, not when you have the likes of Madonna, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Morrissey, The Rolling Stones and Iron Maiden out there, all of whom are a DAMN sight older, and all of whom who would never, EVER resort to lip-synching at a LIVE show which people are paying through the nose for, and never have....

 

I'm totally with Richard, there is no excuse for this sort of practice... EVER.....

Okay, so if Britney was to be singing live in concert, dancing around as hard and as fast as she can, she'd be huffing and puffing and then everyone will complain that she's a crap live singer!

But the thing is, most people do accept it now, she's been doing it for about the last 10 years or so :lol: It's not a good thing (it's cheating your way through the music industry), but people accept it and kinda glaze over the fact she mimes during the tour. Yes she should be knocked for it (and she is), but she's one of the biggest pop stars of the 21st Century, and no one is going to care less. It's wrong in all it's way, but it's realistic for alot of today's generation who listen to music.

The Sugababes GH tour they did f*** all dance wise which is normal for them and it mas basically them, their band and three mic stands. They were f***ing amazing. They sounded great and they had an amazing atmosphere on the go in the SECC Hall 4. I felt so cheated that the support act mimed half her set. Especially coz the Sugababes are highly anti-miming. They have only ever done it when they physically perform live, mainly due to the studio not being able to handle it.

 

Keisha and Heidi were ill on live lounge once when they first did the slower version of About You Now and they were really good. But they got slagged to f*** by all these Hardcore GA loons who completely blanked on the whole ill part. They had the Flu, and they turned up and performed, as opposed to their band. Half of whom just couldn't be f***ed to turn up to the Walk This Way video shoot. I don't give a $h!t what excuses they used, it's poor effort on their behalf.

 

I did find out a few months ago that the first support act mimed because she had a really nasty throat virus thing, that meant she could sing 3 songs, then her voice completely died, so i felt slightly less violated.

 

The main reason i would never go to see GA over the Babes regardless of all the little twaty dance routines they do with their whore like outfits which apparently make it a 'better' show, is because i appreciate the vocals more. I couldn't give a f*** what the hardcore GA Loons say, Heidi can have her off song every now and then. Mainly Denial i find, but for me they p*** over GA's vocals from a great height. For me that means they are better live. At the end of the day i've gone to see a concert, so i've gone for the live versions of my favourite tracks. Not a f***ing dance routine. If i wanted dancing, i'd go the the So You Think You Can Dance Tour.

Precisely.... You want dancing...? Go and see the next Diversity show.... Britney is supposedly a SINGER first and foremost.... She records MUSIC, you cant exactly see her "dance" routines when you put the CD in the player can you.....? Anything else is just icing... if you cant do the thing that you're making your name for doing, then it's time to sh!t or get off the pot..... I have absolutely NO respect for Britney or Michealiean (mind you, whatever respect I had for Jacko eroded LONG before the miming revelations).....

 

I dont like their music, but I at least credit the likes of Sugababes, Girls Aloud, X-tina and The Saturdays for putting on a genuine good live show for their fans.... P!nk, I actually do quite like and the live footage I've seen of her is fukkin' amazing frankly.... She absolutely rips the pish out of Britney....

 

I believe britney is a dancer first and singer second just like paula abdul. Im glad my fave artist/bands can "Sing" and always sings live.

I agree totally with that. If she's cheating anyone (or kidding anyone) its only herself. The fans just go to see her move about the stage and flick her hair back, preferably wearing as little as possible. Nice work and if I had a bod like hers and could get away with it to an adoring fanbase I would!

This is the vital point here ... a lot of people in this thread are talking about miming artists 'cheating' their fans. But surely to God, anyone who's been a Britney fan for any reasonably length of time (hell, even anyone who saw her X Factor performance) would KNOW that she won't sing live. She barely sung any of the Onyx Hotel tour live in 2004, and no-one had an issue with it like they suddenly do now. So I'm using Britney as an illustration because I know the most about her, but it applies to MJ/etc aswell

 

Anyone who comes out of one of Britney's O2 concerts this week feeling cheated because she mimed deserves it for their ignorance and stupidity of thinking she wouldn't. We can debate til the cows come home about whether she should, but the fact is that people have known for 5-6 years that she won't ... why suddenly be surprised when she doesn't sing live for their show? I'm going tomorrow, and have REALISTIC expectations of what she'll do, and so won't feel like I've been cheated, because I got what I expected.

 

I also think Britney is a performer and visual artist before a singer. Her songs are that ... songs, not 'pieces of art' or even (arguably) 'music'. I'm a huge Britney fan, but I'm realistic ... they're uber-produced pop songs performed by a pretty blonde woman. But fact is, they're intense fun and look fantastic on a similarly styled visual production. There ARE exceptions, because all different artists provide different things. I'll go and see Britney for her stunning stage show, and I don't much care if she mimes, because I'm not there to see her prove herself as a vocalist ... I'm just not interested in that from her. I'll go and see Kelly Clarkson because of her, proven, amazing voice - I do want her to sing live because that's what she's amazing at. Both shows are fascinating for different reasons. I maybe could have both, if I went to see Pink, but I won't, because I don't like any of her songs that much. Why do I have to choose to go and see a Diversity show if I want dancing? They're incredible, but it wouldn't be like the Britney show. Why can't I have both in the same place and save myself about 200 quid? I'd also point out that just because Britney fans don't care about her not singing live, doesn't mean they have no musical credibility or taste ... we're not stupid. Not a direct criticism at anyone here, but it's just something I've come up against a lot ... people think because I can enjoy a Britney concert, I can't enjoy anything of quality or worth.

 

The bottom line is that anyone who doesn't understand what's so great about a Britney gig will NEVER be satisfied with any answer I could give. If you don't get what's incredible about it, you just don't get it :lol: Personally I'd just let everyone enjoy what they want to enjoy

 

At the end of the day, she ain't killing anybody ... and the people who do have a problem with it are those who are even not attending the shows, hey !

Just give the people attending the show a rest, and don't bully them if they want to pay for a show where live singing is pretty rare.

After all, it's like when you go to see David Guetta or Fedde le Grand, you don't expect them to actually sing the tracks, you go there for the fun, the atmosphere and the overall set up of the show. Is it that hard to accept that some people can enjoy it for what it is ?

People can bitch about Britney all f***ing day if they want too. She is still one of the biggest female pop stars in the world, and she has still sold out every concert date scheduled for her tour, and if you don't believe that it has been confirmed by all outlets that sell tickets for the show. In saying that Britney must be doing something right, and whether you like it or not the show is amazing. The tour doesn't even say she will be live it is called THE CIRCUS: STARRING BRITNEY SPEARS.

 

I have said my opinion on this, and you all can bitch and moan about it for the next month if you want too, take her or leave her, but it doesn't really matter in the end because the bitch is still selling tickets and merchandise like hotcakes at an obesity clinic.

I'm not going to bitch about Britney but surely for a britney fan to go to a concert and for her not to sing live must set alarm bells ringing and surely it has to be disappointing when she doesnt sing live, i'm not a britney lover or hater but in general i would never pay any money to go to a concert for the artists not to sing live, it defeats the purpose for me.

So Britney definitely isn't the 'biggest'.

Britney hasn't set all of her tour dates down in stone because of the conservatorship, but there are still 3 months of touring that haven't been scheduled after August. You also have to remember I live in the US where Britney is alot bigger then P!nk, and Britney has outsold Beyonces tour majorly when it comes to US shows... one date was only half way filled at the venue.

 

But when it comes to this entire decade Britney is the biggest selling female artist on a worldwide scale and with tours.

Buzzing: Pinks album aint even gone platinum un USA yet and its been out sinse October...Brits on her way to double platinum and Circus is only out sinse December....So that aint true about album sales being stronger on Pinks side!

Also britney only origianally announced about 45 dates and now were on 60...the tour is being extended trough aisa and Austraila towards the end of the year..and its the biggest gross tour of the year so far!
