Posted June 6, 200916 yr Tonight I was thinking about the new album and came to thought what should be songs to make Sugababes massive again. The main thing IMO why Sugababes are so popular is that their music was almost always innovative, they created something new and different to all that was on the radio or TV that time. I remembered the previous songs which were in front of the time they were released and then I made my Top-5 of the most innovative songs by Sugababes: 1. Overload. I can't remember anything so fresh and modern in 2000 like Overload. It was compeletely different to all pop and R&B music which was popular that time. Massive and independent, it deserves to be in front of the list. 2. Round Round. Obviously it was like a storm. Strong fresh song and second #1 in their career. 3. Denial. Very experimental thing. Although it wasn't high popular in the UK, but across Europe it got its deserved dividends. 4. Stronger. And again. I know lots of people who aren't fans of Sugababes and pop-R&B music but who LOVE this tune. 5. About You Now. Actually they didn't co-write it, but this song gave us trend of 'About You Now - I Kissed a Girl - My Life Would Suck Without You' style of songs. Also I wanted to mark 'Situation's Heavy', it would be #6 in this list. And what are the most innovative Sugababes songs for you?
June 6, 200916 yr interesting. my only problem with the sugababes right now is that they have lost theyre innovation and inventiveness. three, angels and one touch are full of groundbreaking songs.... freak like me, just dont need this, we could have it all, situations heavy, one touch are prime examples. the last three albums have been so much more mainstream but songs like 2hearts, red dress, denial, you on a good day and no can do show that the babes are still have a nack for picking creative songs. yes i just said no can do haha
June 6, 200916 yr Surely Freak Like Me would be the most innovative? Because it helped re-ignite the bootleg trend AND the electro movement in pop. I wouldn't say About You Now was; Dr Luke had already been using that sound for two or three years.
June 6, 200916 yr Their first material was really different,/quirky and yeah, a bit innovative, especially the way they styled themselves to. Now they're just releasing pretty bland pop, but hopefully the new material will be better.
June 6, 200916 yr I think with Change and C&S innovation wise they've fallen into a rut. Yeah, there still banging out some tunes but we haven't had anythin ground breaking in a while. But this whole Roc-a-Fella thing seems to have been an adrenaline shot in the arm. Or a cup of coffee and a tactical spew for a weak-hangover type effect. They seem to be revitalised, so fingers crossed. FLM was up there innovation wise, as was RR. Overload, yeah, but One Touch was almost like taking All Saints and giving them a rebranding, it had been done before. Three was pretty innovative, the edgy fashion, that album and single art and a bloody good album. I think have found their feet, and are back on the track they were on before MutMut's bombshell. That surely would have put them a good two years off course. For me it's like they are at the beginning again. C&S is 3.0's One Touch.

June 9, 200916 yr I know everyone goes on about Round Round and Freak Like Me and although I do like them both, it was Hole In The Head that made me really notice them. Its still my favourite. Edited June 9, 200916 yr by Chris_2k9
June 9, 200916 yr I think Push The Button definately was, it was very different at the time and definately pushed them up a gear as being a strong girl group.
