Reds accept £80m Ronaldo bid

Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

At Cristiano's request - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.

Good riddance to the diving cheat even if he is a great player :cheer: :cheer:

Galácticotastic! Stupid money; Ronaldo is good but he’s not worth £80 million by any stretch of the imagination, so good business for Utd. I wonder what the knock on for domestic transfers will be with both Manchester clubs flush with cash?

I think they will go for Lennon now tbh, he is the best RW in the country now that Ronaldo has gone and they will buy another striker, probably Benzema

I don't want rid of Lennon but if they offered Berbatov plus cash i would deal

Valencia is top of the list obv.

The way things are shaping if we can buy Benzema, Valencia, goalie (Valdes being rumoured lots) + possibly one more player for the £80m then it'll be a good deal imo. If we waste a large sum of the £80m on keeping Tevez at the club then the deal hasn't been so good..

You have to buy 40 goals a season and a $h!tload of assists though, really can't see you buying that amount even with 80m so whatever happens you are going to be weaker

Agree about Tevez though, Tevez to me is a headless chicken with no end product, if he was English as opposed to an exotic Argie he would be a laughing stock in the same way as Heskey and Titus Bramble are

This is a good and bad deal for Man Utd. £80m is a fantastic amount of money and fantastic business. But can he be replaced? I'm not so sure. Last season he was judged to have had a poor season, yet was still the top scorer from any English team. I don't believe any of their current squad can get his scoring record so who can they buy than can have a poor season and still score more than anyone else? The best thing they can do is use the money to strengthen certain areas of the squad that badly need it. A right back, replacements for Park & Nani and someone to step into the shoes of Giggs/Scholes. They can also do a lot better than signing the ugly Dirk Kuyt permanantly too...

What kind of world do you live in?

I think this is a great deal for us personally! This way we could move Rooney to a more central position and he'll be a good shout for top scorer next season and we could get Valencia, possibly sign Tevez permenantly or get Benzema instead! (we certainly need another striker if we sell Campbell) We should keep Park and see about getting someone else on the left too! Maybe now they have so many attacking players maybe we could get Arjen Robben to play on the left from Real?

£80m is an OBSCENE amount of money first off. I hope Fifa are looking at the situation of Man City and Real Madrid and realising football is turning into Football Manager in real life, and wage or transfer caps need to be placed of we're in serious trouble of basically destroying football.

Again, like RCF said I can only echo. It'll work two ways for Man Utd. They're gonna get a lot of money to strengthen their side which is what they need really, but Ronaldo is how they play. You take Ronaldo out of the game against Man Utd and you can stop them playing. I don't think they can replace him with a player who can change the game as much as him imo. I'll expect them to buy Valencia (maybe go for Ribery, but I see him being out of the question) and then probably Benzema as well. Can't see them buying Tevez with the money, he's already gone imo. Got a sneaky feeling they might go for David Silva but I doubt they'd get him.

City are a near certainty to win the Premiership next season I think but I don't see Real Madrid beating Barcelona over a season in Spain so money doesn't always mean success, Barca are a hard working organised unit whereas Madrid will buy 11 galactico's who may not play well together

Silva is an attacking right back I don't think they need him really as they have plenty of cover in that position and I don't see Sevilla selling him

I think Utd have shot thelselves in the foot big time as they won't be able to replace Ronaldo and will have to totally change the way they play

City will not win the Premier League next season! Barry-Ireland-De Jong-SWP-Bellamy is not good enough to win the Premier League. The only high calibre player they might sign is Tevez and that's about it. It's not good enough to beat Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea. I hope Real Madrid don't win the Spanish League or Champions League next season as I much prefer Barcelona, but it does look like Real Madrid are going to have a VERY strong forward line next season.

Silva is a left-sided forward player! :P Who plays for Valencia. He's the sort of player Man Utd need, but Real Madrid and Liverpool are both after him. My honest feeling is if he had to choose between Man Utd and Liverpool he'd choose the latter, because of Benitez and the Spanish lot, but i'd be suprised if we payed more than £20m for him.

Man Utd are gonna be weaker next season and probably will take them a few seasons to get back to winning the league again though, purely as they play their football around Ronaldo. There's no player like him, who can be a like-for-like replacement.

With Eto'o and Robben apparently on the way to City they will be shockingly good next season

Robinho Eto’o

Robben Ireland

Barry De Jong

Robben, whilst a good player, is a player seriously hampered by injuries. Good player yes, bit of c**t, yes again, bit of a risk, yes again. Players like Robinho and Eto'o are the sort of players that will just get Mark Hughes the sack. Man City will be nowhere near the title next season.

it's Madrid's defence that needs sorting. Not the front lot, especially with Kaka and Ronaldo moving in.

And  Man City will not be near the title  5th if they're lucky. One problem they have is - the manager. Not exactly a huge international manager who is used to success and can demand the respect of the huge superstars.

David Villa in talks with Real tonight according to Spanish media, the football world has gone fukkin mad, what will that be ? another 30 or 40 milliion probably :|

Only difference is, 30-35m is a realistic price for Villa as opposed to 80m for Ronaldo. :manson:

Ronaldo while he is a c**t of Eboue/Drogba levels is also one of the 3 best players in the world along with Kaka and Messi, I would say infact he probably is the best player in the world so I think £80m is up there in what would be expected

Mourinho was not a huge international manager before he joined Chelsea, yes he won a CL but he had agreed to be Chelsea manager long before he won the CL final but he won stuff in league that is of Scotland standard and did amazing at Chelsea

Wenger was not a huge international manager, flirting with jobs in France and Japan pre Scum but hardly a big name but now he is regarded by many as the best manager in the world

Am not saying for one moment that Hughes will ever be Wenger / Mourinho level manager but my point is you don't need to have a Lippi. Capello, Hiddink level reputation pre moving to the Premiership to succeed

Ronaldo, most overrated player in the world yes - best player in the world, no. Not worth 80m, far from it. 60m would be pushing the boat for him.
