I'm in the "Words" fan-club also. :D It seems to have a cult following, even though it came only 24th. I liked "SheLion" also, but didn't participate in that contest.

I am also in the 'Words' and now more general Kate Miller-Heidke fan club thanks to Dalisska

wasn't blown away by She Lion though

I owe Qantas thanks for really making me a KM-H fan. She was the featured artist on one the radio stations on one of the flights i did so i got to hear a load of stuff from the second album and fell in love, but i only tuned in because of Words and Dalisska.

Update for Deandria:

Ladytron - Destroy Everything You Touch - BJSC XI

I can't recall the moment I decided that this would be my first entry in BJSC, I think it just came to me. And at no. 4 in the final, it is my best result to date. Was a dark horse.

Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy - BJSC XII

I really had faith in this song, but it flopped hard. It got second last place in the semi-final, the same amount as last place, but with a higher point so it didn't come last. Later I asked people whether it was just too well known or they weren't into it, and someone said it's a fantastic song, but far too well known for BJSC.

Hooverphonic - Mad About You - BJSC XIII

Was the lowest scoring song in the semi to get through to the final and finished last in the final. I think it's a cute song.

Alanis Morissette - Straitjacket - BJSC XIV

I thought this would appeal more to the pop/dance people, but it still flopped, coming third last in the semi-final. Not your typical Alanis song.

Au Revoir Simone - Dark Halls - BJSC XV

I think I discovered this rather cute song in lastfm radio (which I think you have to pay for now), looking for "indie pop" or something. It appealed to me and thought I would give it a chance. Didn't get through to the final. I don't have this song anywhere (yet?). Occasionally I listen to it on YouTube.

Halou - Political - BJSC XVI

Quite a stunning song, imo. Didn't get through to the final though. Probably more of a headphones song. I love Halou. Probably very unconventional for BJSC.

Regina Spektor - Samson - BJSC XVII

Again, something a little different. A very pretty song imo.

Röyksopp (feat. Karin Dreijer Anderssen) - This Must Be It - BJSC XVIII

Came 17th. Not much to say. I do like the song.

Did not enter XIX

Pogo - Expialidocious - BJSC XX

Found this on someone's Orkut page and out of curiosity, I listened to it. Fell in love with it and decided to enter it. I consider it my most experimental entry, although "Political" by Halou was also pretty experimental imo. Neither song managed to qualify to the final.

I also entered R.E.M. - At My Most Beautiful for the UK #10 spin-off. It finished last in the semi.

Ashton update:

BJSC I \\ Sugababes // Push The Button \\ 8th // 77points

Amazing track, not such an amazing BJSC entry, but hey ho. In hindsight i'd possibly send something more unknown rather than the track that was their biggest #1 to date at the time. 8th is a respectable debut, anywhere apart from the 1st contest  Fotherington Islands was here!

BJSC II \\ Laura Critchley // What Do We Do \\ 21st // 44points

Nice little ballad, didn't do very well at all. Even in the early contests ballads were a surefire way to flop. Still love this track and i'm glad i sent it. Can't wait for Laura's new stuff to leak, see if there's some BJSC worthy stuff in it. Last Contest as Fotherington Islands

BJSC III \\ Mutya Buena // Addiction \\ 16th // 42points ----- Lowest Points

Slight pick up from the month before. Starting the recycling trend by using former Queen, Mutya for the second time. An unknown demo track that possibly would do better with the recent influx of the RnB block. The Ashton name makes it's debut replacing Fotherington Islands.

BJSC IV \\ Dragonette // True Believer \\ =9th // 56points

Continuing the improvement, Dragonette really step up the game to get our name out there. True Believer showed us a ballad can do well if it's done properly, i.e. by an electropop band. Remains one of my favourite entries.

BJSC V \\ Sugababes // Hole In The Head [Live] \\ =4th // 70points : TBO-SF1-DNQ

First top 5 for Ashton as Ashtonise favourites the Sugababes appear again with Hole In The Head live. Complete with the live only 4th verse and Amelle instead of Mutya, we turned a cheap song into something less cheap and it proved a success.

BJSC VI \\ Lily Allen // I Don't Know \\ 2nd // 99points : TBO-SF1-DNQ ----- Highest Finish

The fantastic, freshly leaked spectacular track from Lily went on to give us our best finish to date. Retitled The Fear, it hit the top spot on worldwide charts 8months later. One of Ashton's signature entries may have failed to make TBOI-X final but i am so so so proud of this track. Love it to bits, and sparked a little trend of using fresh leaks :kink:

BJSC VII \\ Red Blooded Women // Colour Me Dirty \\ 14th // 67points

Another one of our signature tracks and our proudest moment to date. Stunning track, stunning band. Dubbed the 'Mighty Ashton' by the band the track was as high as 5th during the results. In our opinion the best track we have entered and the first 12 from FSR Rontvia

BJSC VIII \\ Gabriella Cilmi // Got No Place To Go \\ 7th // 101points

From the album of 2008, Gabriella appeared for the first time for Ashton with a stunnin track and proved us to be a force to reckoned with. First 3 figure result was a good day for Ashton

BJSC IX \\ Amy MacDonald // Barrowland Ballroom \\ 9th // 107points

Continuing the top run and with another 3 figure finish. Lovely track, good finish. Glad i entered this.

BJSC X \\ Sugababes // Never Gonna Dance Again \\ DNQ // 50pts in SF1

This did not happen.

BJSC XI \\ Gabriella Cilmi // Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now \\ 8th // 105points

Gabriella's best track to date helped us back into the top 10 and forget X ever happened. One of our top5 entries.

BJSC XII \\ Red Blooded Women // You Made Your Bed \\ 20th // 67points

First BJSC entry to be fully endorsed by the artist, YMYB failed to match the standard set by CMD. Still love this track, and it really sealed the Ashtonise love affair with Red Blooded Women

BJSC XIII \\ Lorelei Carlson // Alone \\ 16th // 69points

Kick starting the Risks FTW strategy, Lorelei followed RBW with a stunning but subtle track with that hook

BJSC XIV \\ Lily Allen // Back To The Start \\ 17th // 91points

Suffering slightly from the ACM backlash, Lily continued Ashton's streak of mediocre results with good songs.

BJSC XV \\ Haffi Haff // Give Me Sexy \\ 23rd // 65points -------- = Lowest Finish

Ashton's first male became infamous for the Haffi vs Petros competition. I still love the track. Restarted Risks FTW

BJSC XVI \\ Alex Roots // Don't Stop Looking \\ 5th // 113points

Following from a disastrous month it looked like Risks FTW was starting to pay off with Alex making the top5 with a Ashtonise Points record. Another Signature Ashtonise track.

BJSC XVII \\ Nevio & Gabriella Cilmi // Non Ti Aspettavo \\ DNQ // SF1 - 48points

Utterly disgusted at this DNQ, making this a signature entry for being such a shock DNQ. The part Italian/part English sensational mid tempo which was tipped to win by Nonsuch fell at the first hurdle. The Italian male didn't make it our most BJSC friendly entry.

BJSC XVIII \\ Delta Goodrem // Electric Storm \\ 18th // 83points

Resisting the urge to do a cheap 'un and reclaim our former glory, but we sent the cursed Delta instead with the sensational Electric Storm. It qualified and returned us to the top 20. We lost our Big5 placing but still refuse to go cheap to reclaim it.

BJSC XIX \\ Cinderella Theory // IN2U \\ 23rd // 70points ------- = Lowest Finish

Yet another artist backed entry from Ashton. The long awaited appearance of Artist X did not live up to expectations. Coming 11th-15th on most lists the band limped home in 23rd.

BJSC XX \\ Tone Damli Aaberge // Butterflies \\ 4th // 160points -------- Highest Points

Stunning track, but an NF entry. Yet it overcomed this and smashed our points record. Woop!!!!

BJSC XXI \\ Sugababes // Whatever Makes You Happy \\ TBC // TBCpoints

The first track to only be written by one babe, WMYH is penned by Keisha, and pretty much only features Mutya and H on backing vocals. Fitting tribute to the Keisha Buchanan after she was sacked from the Sugababes.

Elegeion - Scars - BJSC XXI

The second piano ballad I have sent. Beautiful song. Too bad it didn't qualify.

The Big Pink - Dominos - BJSC XXII

I heard it on an ad and looked up the lyrics. Found it. I find it pretty addictive. Let's see how it will do.

I also entered R.E.M. - At My Most Beautiful for the UK #10 spin-off. It finished last in the semi.

Ashton update with new comments:

BJSC I \\ Sugababes // Push The Button \\ 8th // 77points

Not quite understanding what we were doing, Fotherington Islands rolled up for the debut competition fresh from their independence from Botanikka with former UK#1 Push The Button. Stunning track, one of the Sugababes finest moments. Not expecting too much from the entry we were a bit meh with the finishing position. Thankfully this track still holds the record for the shortest time between going to number 1 and entry in BJSC where the #1 occours prior to the entry date at 2years.

BJSC II \\ Laura Critchley // What Do We Do \\ 21st // 44points

After learning about the no repeat artist rule the hard way, The Fotherington Islands had to push Mutya back a contest and drew Laura Critchley out of the reserve sack. Support act on the Sugababes Overloaded Tour, What Do We Do stood out from her album and became the logical choice for us while we started to get to grips with the contest. Finishing very low and only scoring from a handful of nations it became clear that ballad was not a road to be going down.

BJSC III \\ Mutya Buena // Addiction \\ 16th // 42points ----- Lowest Points

The original choice for II, Mutya Buena represented us at III instead and became the first artist to be used twice for the same country along with Jordin Sparks for allies Kopecka. A more RnB tinged demo from Mutya that was criminally denied a spot on Real Girl became our lowest points scorer, but pushed us back into the top20. Great track and very deserving of its BJSC spot. Fotherington Islands became Ashton after the two countries signed a treaty to allow Fotherington Islands to return to being a State of the Federal Republic of Ashton.

BJSC IV \\ Dragonette // True Believer \\ =9th // 56points

A triumphant return to the top10 for Ashton with Dragonette, also a support act for the Sugababes on their Overloaded Tour making I-V entirely Sugababes related for the Sugamad country. This balladesque track performed substantially better than What Do We Do, showing that occasionally a Ballad can be a hit. At the peak of the Galore hype, this entry came just in time and possibly benefited from the low participation in IV. Ashtonise BJSC historians say that an uptempo Dragonette track would have done far better, and Ashton at the time had no access to video software and was therefore unable to create a video for first choice, Jesus Doesn't Love Me.

BJSC V \\ Sugababes // Hole In The Head [Live] \\ =4th // 70points : TBO-SF1-DNQ

The Sugababes returned for the 5th contest with yet another UK#1, this time Hole In The Head with a little twist. The live performance with the added 4th verse became a hit and Ashton romped home in 4th place, our first top5. Stunningly performed 3.0's version of the 2.0 track was Ashton's first and only proper attempt at a Live Entry. Proving that if done well, it can pay off. Ashton were fast developing their reputation for protecting it's former artists and artist recycling by this contest.

BJSC VI \\ Lily Allen // I Don't Know \\ 2nd // 99points : TBO-SF1-DNQ ----- Highest Finish

Having been rejected countless times before, Lily Allen got the green light for VI. Supposed to be entering with Mr Bluesky the leaking of two brand new demo's [i Don't Know and I Could Say] by Lily prompted the plan to be scraped indefinitely and Ashton spent hours deciding which leak to go with. After initially favouring I Could Say, I Don't Know clicked with the ASC at the last minute and what would later become The Fear flew home in 2nd place in Ashton's first top3. Reaffirming last months notion that Ashton had become a force to be reckoned with.

BJSC VII \\ Red Blooded Women // Colour Me Dirty \\ 14th // 67points

After intending to enter Gabriella Cilmi this month a chance find on Myspace saw Cilmi pushed aside for Red Blooded Women. Spotlight was the rumoured entry at first for it's pre-availability on youtube. The ASC realised that it was not a wise choice and scraped RBW in favour of Cilmi. However after managing to rip Colour Me Dirty from Myspace and upload it to youtube, Plan RBW was go and Gabriella was pushed once again under the cover of an illness picked up in Dr Bombay's Tigerland. Colour Me Dirty has since become a cult entry for the country, the songs stunning electro hooks and brilliant use of the Yazoo sample brought the countries first 12 from Rontvia. Colour Me Dirty ran as high as 5th in the voting, which was watched by the band who later dubbed Ashton 'The Mighty Ashton'. Very much one of Ashton's finest moments.

BJSC VIII \\ Gabriella Cilmi // Got No Place To Go \\ 7th // 101points

Appearing a contest later than planned Gabriella Cilmi made her BJSC debut for Ashton at VIII and made an immediate impact giving Ashton their first 3figure points finish. Discovered on the Sugababes Change Tour, Gabriella Cilmi's flawless performance and even more stunning debut album landed her on Ashton's radar. Uptempo Got No Place To Go was not the intended entry but a clerical error and some confusion meant it was entered over Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now. The ASC maintains that this was the intended entry as it's sound was what the ASC were looking for to continue the countries musical evolution and ensuring each contest had a definitive sound. BJSC Historians think the official line is a bunch of b/s and uses a drunken quote from the President to back up their claims.

BJSC IX \\ Amy MacDonald // Barrowland Ballroom \\ 9th // 107points

Discovered while waiting for another act at T in the Park, Amy MacDonald was the obvious choice for Ashton's next entry. Barrowland Ballroom immediately stood out as the best nonsingle from the album and set a new points record for Ashton. Similar in feel to previous entry Got No Place To Go it backed up the ASC's belief that electropop wasn't the only route to success.

BJSC X \\ Sugababes // Never Gonna Dance Again \\ DNQ // 50pts in SF1

This did not happen.

BJSC XI \\ Gabriella Cilmi // Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now \\ 8th // 105points

Succumbing to the Electropop after Never Gonna Dance Again's failure, the guitar tinged Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now was the perfect antidote to a country in mourning after losing their perfect qualification record. The stunning track came a few contests later than originally planed but made up for it by kicking off the new era in style with a top10 finish.

BJSC XII \\ Red Blooded Women // You Made Your Bed \\ 20th // 67points

The ASC claim this to be the first BJSC entry to be fully endorsed by the artist after receiving full backing from RBW to enter the track. Red Blooded Women's second foray into BJSC was less successful than their first but yielded the same number of points. With claims of overhype and it not living up to Colour Me Dirty's high standards the ASC's plan to continue their top10 streak with clever electropop failed miserably, but saw the dawn of a new Ashtonise era which came into full effect in the next contest. Risks FTW.

BJSC XIII \\ Lorelei Carlson // Alone \\ 16th // 69points

The first entry under new strategy Risks FTW dragged Ashton back up the table position wise and gave Ashton a second cult entry. Alone proved to be a hit with a few countries and has since featured in a number of BJSC Discoveries lists. Ashton's first american artist provided the countries catchiest hook to date, but became the second in a long line of poor finishes for superb tracks.

BJSC XIV \\ Lily Allen // Back To The Start \\ 17th // 91points

Confirmed on a manky keyboard in Singapore Airport, Back To The Start from Lily Allen's long awaited 2nd album proved to be a disastrous deviation from the ASC's new Risks FTW strategy. Suffering from the ACM backlash, Lily limped home in 17th. A respectable 91 points for the country helped Ashton keep their head above water as the ASC struggled to make Risks FTW work as well as their previous SugaRelated strategy.

BJSC XV \\ Haffi Haff // Give Me Sexy \\ 23rd // 65points -------- = Lowest Finish

From the country that would never enter a male came Icelandic Haffi Haff. Very much a male. Infamous for it's cross boarder war with Botanikkan entry Petros, Give Me Sexy gave Ashton their lowest every finish. Not the way the ASC had planed to kick start Risks FTW. It did however provide valuable information on the performance of male artists to the ASC.

BJSC XVI \\ Alex Roots // Don't Stop Looking \\ 5th // 113points

A discovery in the lead up to XIV and then lack of time and moving to Australia delayed this fantastic track to XVI. A stunning return to form for Ashton and a overdue top15 finish for the country. Risks FTW was here to stay after generating it's first top5 hit which took the Ashtonise points record on the way. Famous for being the only non release schedule track in the top5 of XVI it showed just how far the ASC had come from it's 2 uk#1 former entries.

BJSC XVII \\ Nevio & Gabriella Cilmi // Non Ti Aspettavo \\ DNQ // SF1 - 48points : TBO Rejects XI-XX 12th

Gabriella Cilmi was back!! The Aussie songstress was initially going to be representing Ashton with a live track, or a very early demo. In the hunt for this demo on youtube [stupidly i hadn't favourited it] unveiled a new track by Cilmi. Non Ti Aspettavo. A duet with Italian star Nevio for his new album was swiftly confirmed as Ashton's next entry. The half Italian half english midtempo failed to click with voters and like most non-english tracks fell at the first hurdle. Became the only non-english track in the Rejects final and finished 12th. A stunning track and a shocking DNQ and one of my greatest BJSC related finds.

BJSC XVIII \\ Delta Goodrem // Electric Storm \\ 18th // 83points

After a trip to Australia Zoo and a long car journey home filled with Delta Goodrem love made Electric Storm the obvious choice for XVIII. Delta's previous performances in BJSC I and II and Electric Storm being an album track helped the song fit in with Risks FTW. Delta's most uptempo number tried it's best to beat the curse but came home in the same spot as her II entry and one bellow her performance for Rontvia in I. Utterly stunning track, by a stunning and talented singer. Delta is the first Rontvain artist to be recycled by The Federal Republic.

BJSC XIX \\ Cinderella Theory // IN2U \\ 23rd // 70points ------- = Lowest Finish

Artist X made their long awaited appearance in XIX after being unveiled during XVI's national final. Cinderella Theory's long wait from being initially considered in XII was due to disappearing demo's. The song finished 11th-15th on most countries votes and disappointed the ASC with IN2U's 23rd place finish. The ASC believes the tracks long wait from XVI to XIX was it's downfall and has kept CT on the reserve list in anticipation of new material.

BJSC XX \\ Tone Damli Aaberge // Butterflies \\ 4th // 160points : TBO XI-XX 9th -------- Highest Points

After much deliberation Tone Damli Aaberge finally entered Butterflies into BJSC. MFGate saw the entry banned in XV and when the rule was later overturned by public vote following the resignation and hiring of two new moderating countries Butterflies was considered by Tinnmark and Ashton for every contest, both eventually going down another route. The ASC bit the bullet in XX after reserving Tone on a whim. Rontvia telling us that we'd be throwing away a surefire top10 sealed the deal for Tone and she gave Ashton their 4th top5 by coming in 4th with a huge new points record of 160. Tone's pure pop success has rumoured to have helped the ASC finally tune into what works in modern BJSC after struggling since the Indie invasion.

BJSC XXI \\ Sugababes // Whatever Makes You Happy \\ 22nd //

XXI was dedicated to Keisha Buchanan's contributions to the Sugababes after her shocking dismissal. Whatever Makes You Happy was entered despite the knowledge of better songs for being Keisha's first solo writing credits and for being a Keisha lead track. Ashton's refusal to send a 'better' track reduced the cheapness of the track which came in 22nd. The ASC openly admitted that it didn't care how the song did, they just wanted to enter it as a tribute to the dedication, inspiration and vocal talents that Keisha brought to the Sugababes.

BJSC XXII \\ Untouched // Feed Me To The Boys \\ TBC // TBC

After hosting TBO for the second time, although more successfully than the first, Ashton searched for a track to continue from Tone's success not only in XX but in TBO. Former Rontvian entrant Untouched provided the answer with Feed Me To The Boys. XXII is Ashton's first proper foray back into Electropop since XV. It is hoped that Untouched will finish in the top10 for Ashton, with feedback to date proving overwhelmingly positive. Described by the ASC as "No Smack Me, but what is?" The ASC has described Feed Me To The Boys as 'A high class, very expensive escort to Smack Me's kinky, dirty, Las Vegas hooker'. The ASC is believed to be trying to separate the songs to avoid a You Made Your Bed situation as much as possible, while admitting that it is not as good as Smack Me. Smack Me was voted the best BJSC entry of all time in an Ashtonise poll, and is repeatedly touted as such by the ASC and GRA. RTVN Suggested that the song was loved more by the Ashtonise than by Rontvians.

RTVN :P and it's true, Rontvia loves Smack Me but Ashton worships the ground it walks on!
RTVN :P and it's true, Rontvia loves Smack Me but Ashton worships the ground it walks on!

:kink: Fixed.

At least we've gotten over our desire to spell Rontvia: Rontiva :heehee:

We really do worship Smack Me.

Currently 185adverts use Smack Me as the theme, AMC's Afternoon Avec Amelle and AMC's Sport coverage use Smack Me as well.
