Manchester United have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is leaving the club.

United were willing to pay the £25.5m to turn the striker's two-year loan move into a permanent five-year deal but Tevez has decided to move on.

"Disappointingly, his advisors informed the club that he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United," read a United statement.

"The club thanks Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future."

:snif: Was always gonna happen, but still a sad day.

I'd rather have Tevez at United than Berbatov anyday. Tevez works like a bloody donkey (please spare any face jokes :( ), running around the pitch and always trying to get on the end of balls. He may not have scored too many last season but he's a bloody better team player than that Bulgarian waste of space will ever be.
Lucky you tbh, he was hardly a prolific goalscorer all he did was run around really

If he was English he would be a £5-7m player

It wasn't about how prolific he was! A partnership worked with Rooney because he worked so damn hard to get the ball and like Rooney he didn't always try and go for it himself and instead looked for people in better positions before going for it himself.

If he was English as soon as he had three decent games then he'd suddenly be worth £15M like they all seem to be

I don't get all the Berbatov hate personally, I thought he made a big difference last year, he had a presence we haven't had since Sheringham left, the so called 'lazy player' (which people who know nothing about football say because someone else said it) was SO lazy he tracked back and covered right back during the Manchester Derby and got a decent amount of assists. Also maybe without Ronnie as well as Rooney he might be able to shine a bit more.

Back to the subject at hand I am very sad at this news and hope he doesn't go to City. :(

Tevez’s input undoubtedly helped United over the finishing line for the premiership. His work rate and commitment are second to none, it’s a bigger loss for Utd than many people realise.

I can see Manure finishing next season on 10-12 points less than last season now.

I think Tevez was/is an outstanding player. His tireless work ethics (along with Wayne Rooney) helped camouflage the useless statuesque waste of space that is Berbatov (whom SAF paid £30.5m for); and the increasingly selfish Cristiano Ronaldo last season whom lets face it if Liverpool had Torres & Gerrard fit for the majority of the season or Chelski had Hiddink as their manager for all of last season then Manchester United definitely would not have won the Premiership last season.

As a Liverpool supporter I'd much rather we buy Tevez then buy a certain England & Portsmouth full back who can't defend for £18.5 million.

Personally I think he's less of a loss than people realise. I don't rate him at all. Yes, he works hard, but Man Utd have too many of those players. Park, Fletcher, Tevez, Anderson. They all work hard, but where't the required quality? Often, no where. If you want a striker who's great and works hard, then you have Rooney. He works just as hard as Tevez does and IMO is twice the player. I'd rather have Berbatov than Tevez in my team, he might be lazy but he's a fantastic player, scored more than Tevez did and assisted more than Tevez did. In the Champions League final it was quality that won over hard work. I think it's the right choice not to sign him, I wouldn't pay £20m+ for a fatter, uglier, worse version of Dirk Kuyt.

So Tevez ditches United for more money at City. We're letting go a back-up player to a team who finished 40 points behind us last season and lost as many games as Newcastle United. I am yet to worry.

As much as I appreciate everything he did for the club during his 2 seasons on loan, I would much prefer a fresh face be brought into Old Trafford for £25m (Valenica for example, to play in a traditional 4-4-2 or 4-1-2-1-2) than to keep a player who realistically will be used next season only as back-up to the Rooney-Berbatov partnership.

I thought he was a huge part to United's success last year, I don't think fans will realise how important he was just because he wasn't banging in the goals.

Tevez is a grade A bellend.

He won't go to Liverpool cos he'll upset the fans, yet he'll quite happily go to Man City. God what a cock. Dirk Kuyt's better anyway.

His agent was on 5live earlier going on about how he would never join a rival (Liverpool he mentioned) and he wanted a challenge. He said he'd be staying in the Premier League, so I full expect him to sign for Man City. Which is kinda ironic given what he said.
Don't think (and kinda hope) he'll come to Liverpool. I know for a fact we were interested in him, but I think Rafa has other targets lined up away from Tevez. Although with all these rumours about Masch, then it'll give us extra money although I hope we don't spend in on Tevez. I'd rather pay an extra 10m and go for Villa.

Tbh the fact he won't go to Liverpool due to 'intense rivalries' but will go to City kinda sums up modern day fans. It's quite pathetic imo that our biggest rivals seem to be Liverpool rather than City :/

Well I think it's the case nowadays unless you actually live in the City. Liverpool and Everton's rivarly never used to be intense, but the rise of Sky etc. has led it to being pretty bad...

Imo going to City is worse than Liverpool. Also just sums up Tevez is a bit of a dick as well.

In fairness even if Liverpool did make advances for him, they'd probably be about 2 months late anyway leading him to being snapped up by someone else..

Not anymore! Rick Parry's gone now. Aka the guy who wouldn't take a break from his holiday just to wrap up a deal. :manson: His hearts in the right place, but his head definitely isn't.

Don't think we'll get Tevez tbh. At the end of the day money speaks and I think will definitely sway his ultimate decision, which will be Man City imo. Making him more of a plonker than he already his. @D
