April 25, 201015 yr I think they are just afraid of releasing a single and it not going top 10. They don't want to break their run. Its stupid because these days most acts find it difficult going top 10 with 2nd or 3rd single. Westlife are so predictable. One big single a year, promoted off the back of X Factor. Xmas album biggest time of the year for sales. Tour off the back of it, then a month in the studio with ready-to-record songs then back to X Factor in time for Xmas. Still if their fans are still happy with the format, then they aren't going to change it anytime soon. I agree 100% with this. The problem with Westlife is they've always played the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" card. :manson: With Westlife, it's all about the chart position. If they went to no. 1 selling 120 copies they'd be delighted. If they went to no. 2 selling 200,000 copies they'd be absolutely distraught. Pathetic, imo.
April 25, 201015 yr But they haven't been #1 since The Rose back in 2006 (i think) Home and What About Now charted at #2 i think
April 27, 201015 yr They came in at the right time I think. If they we're a new act trying to break now I don't think they would get anywhere!
April 28, 201015 yr Author I'm not impressed and happy with what SYCO/SONY/LOUIS/SIMON/RCA have done to their best album to date. I want to hear The Difference, How To Break a Heart, Shadows, I'll See You Again, Where We Are even No More Heroes, Sound of a Broken Heart, Reach Out on the radios, they couldn't even match the songs that are playing on the radios now. As a fan, I felt taken for granted! August 18, basically maybe the real tentative date of releasing a single at that time because of the tour that will start on May. They should've have gone with Reach Out and released it this month rather than keeping their fans TAKEN FOR GRANTED. They cancelled "Talk Me Down" on March 29 maybe because they didn't get the response the management wants becuase only 1/10 of the fans like the song to be a single. WTF at the single choices at the first place! It's pretty obvious that the management wants to be safe on charts and never let another "I Got You" will happen and I really don't like this system, just release those wonderful songs and people will realize how good Westlife is! but I still believe in them no matter what, if the management feels it would be the best for them then so be it. We just need high quality of songs on the next album and more upbeat songs please. I think they are just waiting for the perfect time not just in UK market but worldwide because being tagged as a boyband, their music will boom for an "era" and the world (except UK) already experienced that. Now, what is big for example in Asia is Korean music and they are waiting for it to lie low then that's when Westlife will enter (they are waiting for Asia because it's one of the biggest market for boybands like Westlife). The record companies are just waiting everything will fall into right place, they're waiting for Louis' new girl group. X Factor USA will also open on 2011 and would be a perfect chance of promoting Westlife there and maybe this is one of the reasons why they have to come into this kind of awful decision. May 8, 201015 yr But they haven't been #1 since The Rose back in 2006 (i think) Home and What About Now charted at #2 i think Home was #3 I think. I know what you are saying but it's not exactly fair just to look at chart positions. What About Now was their biggest selling single in the first week since 2004 (I have no info before that). 75330 What About Now (Nov 2009) [2] 58175 You Raise Me Up (November 2005) [1] 44305 The Rose (Nov 2006) [1] 42161 Home (Nov 2007) [3] And it also spent longer in the charts that some of the past ones. WAN= 18 Home = 15 The Rose = 7 You Raise Me Up = 18 Mandy = 9 etc. I agree that it's a shame they haven't had a number one since 06, but it's hard to get one with a single that's out after an album and I dn't think their lead singles have deserved it. Them not releasing so many singles now is decreasing their chances too, I'd love them to release two singles before the album next time too, that way we can garantee to actually get more than one single. May 12, 201015 yr Westlife are afraid to release a 2nd single from an album because they are afraid it will flop.
May 12, 201015 yr Westlife are afraid to release a 2nd single from an album because they are afraid it will flop. I highly doubt that's the reason, What about now is one of their best selling singles so far and in my opinion this album has more radio friendly songs that they should have no problem reaching top 10 (unless they go against some really tough competition). I think with the death of Nickys father and then the birth of Shane's second son, things just got prosponed and then for some reason they just scrapped it. It's stupid though, they should release the second single straight after Croke Park... I still don't realy understand why it never came out in March, that would have been perfect, then the third in July. <_<
May 14, 201015 yr Westlife regret 'lazy' cover songs Friday, May 14 2010, 12:31 BST By Robert Copsey, Music Reporter Source: digitalspy Westlife have admitted that they regret recording so many cover songs for their previous albums. The group, who have recorded their own versions of tracks including Billy Joel's 'Uptown Girl', Barry Manilow's 'Mandy' and Phil Collins's 'Against All Odds', confessed that they have made a lot of "mistakes" in the past. Band member Nicky Byrne told The Sun: "We've certainly made a lot of mistakes. We've recorded songs that we should never have recorded. We look back on some of them and think, 'Oh God, that was terrible'. "Sitting in rooms and nodding our heads and doing everything that was asked of us was what we did for years and years. But we are happy to speak now, to say, 'I think we should do this'. We've become men over the last few years." Shane Filan added: "You get to a stage when you get a bit lazy. But then we'll go back into the studio and realise the last record was a bit lazy and do better on the next one." The band recently revealed that they plan to record more "sensual tracks".for their next album.
June 25, 201015 yr what are exactly sensual tracks???? Tracks entirely beyond their capability, I'm sure.
June 25, 201015 yr Tracks entirely beyond their capability, I'm sure. The sort of song Christina plays as she implants seeds into her woohoo. Ha.
