Former member of The Three Degrees Fayette Pinkney has died in hospital aged 61.

Fayette was a member of the group during their 70s heyday.

Along with leader Sheila Ferguson and other member Valerie Holliday. Together they had 7 UK Top 50 hits before Fayette left to start a family and worked as a vocal coach.

Fayette has suffered tragedy herself. On January 15, 1994, Pinkney gave birth to a daughter, Ayana Alexandria, who died a few days later due to sudden infant death syndrome.

The group were part of the Gamble & Huff Philadelphia stable along with acts such as The O'Jays, Peoples Choice, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Intruders and Billy Paul, to name a few.

Next week it will be 35 years since their biggest hit When Will I See You Again hit #1 in the UK.
