Err you're changing what you said now...as per usual! "radio adds dates mean nothing for an artist like Mariah Carey's first single" now, it's just to point out that others have added her when the official date hasn't come yet.

No. Look who's putting words in mouths now. The link was mearly backing up the fact that a adds means nothing, otherwise there would be no CHR stations there.

Also, where did I say categorically say that official adds mean everything????? Nowhere I simply gave the reason why Mariah is having low airplay, cos she hasn't gone for official adds, means she doesn't get played on those stations which don't have her and stunts growth on those who have the track [dispute this last point if you want].

um no you did not:

'It gets sent to radio for official adds on July 21st....so officially it shouldn't have any significant airplay rolleyes.gif'

22million is definately significant airplay.

'those stations that don't have her' can add her any time they want! That is why the adds date means nothing, because if the demand for the song is strong enough what is stopping them from adding the song 'early'?

Cos of course songs do get airplay before being officially added, as a station can choose to play it. As soon as a song premiers it gets airplay. so only a dumba$$ would say any new song would have an airplay of 0, as a point.

I just stated her airplay won't be high due to the fact that she still hasnt been added to so many yet...deal with it!

No you didn't and in your words stop 'changing what you said'. You said it wouldn't be significant not that it wouldn't be high.

Before adds, it's airplay is actually called 'unofficial' airplay, due to it not being officially added, it still counts to mediabase and the Hot 100 tho.

That was not even needed because, as you pointed out, it still counts for the charts

can't be arsed fighting with fanboys!

How relevant to the discussion

Adds dates do mean nothing, evidenced from the amount of songs that take off without them, for example one that sticks out in my mind is LoveGame (due to me being a fanboy of GaGa no doubt) which got to the top 40 of the CHR chart without even being confirmed as the next single.

I've just thought of a simile that will hopefully explain this to you, adds dates are like physical single release dates in the UK; the songs are available before that date to download from the album and thus there it nothing stopping them from doing so. If people want it they will get it, songs even get to #1 before the physical release date and sometimes there isn't even a physical release date because it's really just a formality.

This is exactly the same as on the radio, the songs are available from the time it premieres or even leaks to be played on the radio station and if the demand is enough then they will do it. There's nothing stopping them so why not?

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAD!

There's no reason to talk like ATRL members in the world of BuzzJack.

idea: everyone shut up, it doesn't matter

LOL, exactly. -_-
