April 3, 201015 yr Me too  As long as it gives Helena Bonham Carter more screen time as Bellatrix Lestrange, I don't care :kink: Hell yeah, I would pay to watch a spin-off of just Bellaxtrix Lestrange being, well strange :P And most of the movies so far have made big changes to the books, so this shouldn't be any different. My guess is that they will most likely trim down a lot of the camping scenes and have more scenes focusing on what's going on in the outside world - something the books narrative couldn't really do as we are forced to see everything through Harry's eyes.

True, but the 'Half Blood Prince' was stripped to much imo, especially with the horrocrux buisness. Hopefully in the last movie they can find a way of introducing the horrocrux's that where never mentioned in the HBP film.

HBP was stripped down far too much, but I think that because Deahtly Hallows will be two films, they're going to include virtually everything, apart from the things that don't come across on the screen very well. There are things that can work on paper, but not on the screen IMO.

April 4, 201015 yr True, I just hope that the three major scenes, Ministry of Magic, Gringotts and Battle of Hogwarts will be done amazingly though. Yeah definitely. I'm also really looking forward to the Malfoy Manor scenes. Emma Watson admitted to being a big Helena Bonham Carter fan, and I want to see how well the work together, plus I want to see Helena torture Emma :kink:

I just hope they don't strip/tone it down out of fear of upsetting the younger audience even though Deathly Hallows is really a young adult book and is not really aimed at the same age group as the earlier films were.

Definitely. It's a scene where Helena can truly shine, because Bellatrix is horrifically evil in it. We know that Helena can do it, and she will be incredible, but if they try and lighten it as to not upset the younger audience, then they're really going to ruin it, and I'm going to be really gutted :(
April 4, 201015 yr I'm interested in how Ralph Fiennes portrays Voldermort in this film, as there will be a lot of focus on him this time round. (and tbf, I've never been 'in awe' of his portrayal of Old V).
April 4, 201015 yr The stripping down of the other films has f***ed this one up a bit, like the lack of Elf related stuff in the Order of the Phoenix, particularly Kreacher throwing out the locket. Oh and Bill being attacked by the werewolf in HBP means more has to be left out for the first part of the Deathly Hallows. It all comes to bite them eventually ^_^

We know that Helena can do it, and she will be incredible, but if they try and lighten it as to not upset the younger audience, then they're really going to ruin it, and I'm going to be really gutted :( Exactly, I can see it being a Dark Knight Joker moment - I think that best describes how intense I think that scene should be, and how I think Bellatrix should act (and HBC is a phenomenal actress who, as you said, will have no problem pulling it off) and tbh it's probably one of the scenes I'm most looking forward to. I really can't wait for November. I'm interested in how Ralph Fiennes portrays Voldermort in this film, as there will be a lot of focus on him this time round. (and tbf, I've never been 'in awe' of his portrayal of Old V). Personally, I think how they have portrayed V is probably one of the few things the movies have got spot on - Fiennes is electrifying and his acting is, I think, the best of the lot alongside HBC and Alan Rickman. His fight scene with Dumbledore is one of the best, and most intense, scene of any HP movie - Fiennes was terrifying in every aspect of the character, especially how he was made to look - I think judging from that scene alone he (and as I said above HBC) have the potential to be as exhilarating crazy as the Joker was in the Dark Knight. I think one of the only times the film portrayal of a character is just as good as the picture I have painted in my head. The stripping down of the other films has f***ed this one up a bit, like the lack of Elf related stuff in the Order of the Phoenix, particularly Kreacher throwing out the locket. Oh and Bill being attacked by the werewolf in HBP means more has to be left out for the first part of the Deathly Hallows. It all comes to bite them eventually ^_^ I agree with you in that the sheer amount of cutting of important character moments and scenes will mean the last HP won't be as emotionally satisfying as it could have been (for exmaple Dobby's death won't be nearly as hard hitting as in the books as he hasn't been seen since Chamber of Secrets). However, I think they have a shot at making this really good now that they have two films to tell the story. I just hope they see sense and don't try and water everything down; what I think would be a good idea is if they released two edits - one for the kiddies and one for the older audiences - that way they can please everyone and maybe bring in people who otherwise wouldn't watch it simply because they see it as a being a 'kids film', although obviously that won't happen. April 4, 201015 yr Really? :o See, the way he comes across is almost the opposite to the Voldermort I used to always have pictured. I guess it's different for everyone really. ;D
April 4, 201015 yr Voldemort is one of the few less-brilliant ascepts of the films. Not particularly scary or convincing sadly.
April 5, 201015 yr Really? :o See, the way he comes across is almost the opposite to the Voldermort I used to always have pictured. I guess it's different for everyone really. ;D You're right there :P I just think Fiennes plays him well and he looks like how I imagined Voldermort. By the way, sorry for all the mistakes in my last post. Kinda embarassing really - I blame it on lack of sleep. And Jark, why do you not like the movie's version of V? April 5, 201015 yr Sadly with Voldemort your entire perception of him is something you create for yourself because unlike most of the other characters in the books we never really get much of an understanding of him (which is central to his role as somebody feared by all), and my perception of him just hasn't been met in the films thus far. He's got charm which is important I suppose but he's just not in any way a figure of fear. I find the prosthetics a little bit tacky too I'm afraid. I'd rather you give me Lucius or Bellatrix any day.
April 6, 201015 yr Author Nice to see some movement in here :D Getting very excited about the first proper trailer which should be appearing hopefully later this month or early next! November seems so far away!

True, I guess that's why adapting books can be hard hard as films are forced to show everything whereas in books things can be hinted at so that you can have your own imagination do the rest. Personally, I do find him menacing (especially in the fight scene) but I guess it really is each to their own. I agree with you about Bellatrix though  RyanJL I really can't wait for the trailer, not too long now :w00t: Edited April 7, 201015 yr by Daniel Gleek
