Three semi's is the first step to a pure logistical nightmare.

If we allow 3 semi's which is would be a utter pain in the arse to organise, our theoretical limit would push us too close to 90 for comfort.

When we reach that limit, we end up with people asking for a 4th semi, and effectively adding quarter finals to the contest.

Something we can't do without changing from a monthly competition to every two months or 6/7weeks.

We physically have to draw the line somewhere and we are drawing it here.

If you know you are going to miss the next contest tell us now and we can save you a spot for XXI. It's not designed to punish regulars who miss a contest, it's designed to get rid of alias accounts. Which is something we are having difficultly with. Hence the 3month rule and the waiting list.

I don't think anybody anticipated the need for this in IV/V. The explosion of entries to need 2 semi's at VII was very unexpected.

RFC sums up EXACTLY my thinking on this in a manner slightly different from mine which all too clearly shows another reason why having three semis is neither viable nor desirable.

Is it too late to change mod? :kink:

I agree 3 or more Semi Finals is a no no. In the last contest my entry barely got out of the "R'n'B bloc" Semi Final, yet I finished in a vastly superior 8th place in the Final.

Maybe, the best option might be for those on the waiting list to set up a "breakaway" Song Contest on the site between themselves.

After all it works for Darts and Boxing .....

I do think that a relegation type qualification contest like Rich suggested could be something to consider to ensure that everybody gets to participate each month!

But I can see now (finally) why 3 semis wouldn't work if only for the huge workload that the host would face, Mark has a way with words :heehee:

a feeder contest perhaps.

Cap this one at 50, and have a feeder series so the winner from the feeder gets promotion and becomes entry 51. then if you miss a contest instead of missing out entirely you get relegated to the feeder series.

So if 5 people don't reserve/confirm for BJSCXn then the top 5 from the feeder get a bump up to fill the gaps.

And because they would be two contests the songs could in theory overlap, but the country couldn't send the same song twice.

^^ What if the country ended up sending an absolute smash to the feeder though? Surely that would defeat the object of the complaints against the current system? (I.E. that we'd end up losing out on potential winners), and would encourage people to go massively cheap in the feeder contests with the aim of qualifying...

Two semis is fine - it was essentially the perfect solution at the time  Three semis is a definite no-no though...

The two semi's was added in as an example of something that happened that we didn't expect. :heehee:

I'm obviously with you on against the 3 semi's

Ah yes, the biggest potential flaw is the one i miss out :drama:

You have a point.

RUMBLED :heehee:

In short, is there any chance of me being in this BJSC? Just so I know whwther I need to get a move on with stuff lol...
I'd quite like to know whther I can enter or not although I expect I shall have to wait for the next competition which is fine by me...we don't want the contest to be over filled as it will become alot of work for the organizers and the more entries mean the more confusing it may become.

I mentioned the relegation idea last month and it went down like a burst balloon, so why the sudden change of mind?

Just make it easy. Cap it to 50, newbies have to have been on BJ for 3 months, and make it a 'first come first serve' basis. Forget all this waiting list nonsense.

i didn't see it, sorry!

Oh no, that wasn't supposed to be mean or anything, I'm just curious. I didn't explain it very well when I suggested it, so maybe I gave off the wrong idea at the time. :heehee:
Best way is to have a regulation process for the month, say the bottom 8 are regulated, oops there goes Kylienips :snif: :heehee:
Do I have to sign up to this I don't understand as it says if your a new country

If you're a new country you HAVE to sign up to it, it doesn't say others don't...
In that case I'm to sign up for the waiting list anyway?
