April 3, 201015 yr Just IMAGINE if Mushy could actually back up any of these points he supposedly dislikes... It's his opinion. I don't agree with him but he's perfectly entitled to say what he thought of it.
April 3, 201015 yr But once again he has merely hurled insults without giving any actual facts to base them on. Fair play, everyone's entitled to their opinions and all that but if you're going to slate it at least back up what you're saying.
April 4, 201015 yr Just IMAGINE if Mushy could actually back up any of these points he supposedly dislikes... i was critical of the tardis's pyrotechnics...the programme opened with yet again the tardis on fire , thats a fact. his mannerisms were more like tennant then troughton. troughton was aloof, laid back, eccentric and absent minded, but came through when the going got tough... this bloke just played it like tennant, all running around, huffing and puffing . the storyline WAS the same as the new era... deamonising something close to home, from 'whats under the bed', 'water', the shadows, just basic childhood fears only this time they used a crack in the wall.... and imho he (cant even recall his name, which kinda supports my view) has no screen presence, hes not interesting to watch, unlike tennant whos gurning and facial contortions gave him an air of interest. whether subsequent episodes will change or impact my view remains to be seen, but tbh im fed up with the obligatory appearance by bloody daleks, and cybermen etc... historically they only cropped up once a blue moon, not every seriese and it used to be a joy to wonder which alien monster he was going to tackle next, unlike today when youve already seen the previews. they ought to GET OFF EARTH, and invent some new alien life forms, the scope is HUGE, and infinately more interesting, which is why 'star trek' was so popular over dr who. at this rate dr who will finish....for good this time.

Just because you don't feel it's good doesn't mean the millions of other people watching won't.
April 4, 201015 yr Personally as someone who thinks Tennant was good but overrated (best Doctor ever? please!) Matt Smith has done a fine job of being different enough from Tennant and yet still being essentially The Doctor. And I too saw shades of Troughton and even dare I say it glimpses of Tom Baker at times. And before anyone says anything yes I have seen all the existing episodes by ALL the Doctors and grew up with the show in the 70s and 80s. I was concenred in the first 10 minutes especially as Amy managed to make about 10 different meals and the clock on the wall still said 8.30 the whole time! But after that it really picked up. The story wasn't the greatest narrative wise but it did introduce us to the characters and fleshed them out superbly and with more depth than you'd expect for one episode. I already feel like I prefer Smith to some of the old incarnations and Amy Pond is for my money potentianlly the best companion since Sarah Jane or Romana II (I did have a soft spot for Nyssa but that's another story!). Headstrong, smart and not afraid to speak her mind she could be a great foil for the Doctor. Being gorgeous just helps. Looking forward to this series now and hope the rumours of a return by the Silurians are true Edited April 4, 201015 yr by Severin
April 4, 201015 yr I really liked it, but like people have said there was ups and downs. Matt is really good I think but mabye a tad ott and trying to be funny too much, but I think he will grow on me more as the series continues. Karen on the otherhand I instantly like (already much better than Catherine Tate imo) I also really liked the young actress that played her as a child. I really like the new theme tune, credits and Tardis also. The things I wasn't too fussed on; the CGI really needs improving (but it was never amazing anyways) the storyline wasn't the best but as people said it was more about introducing the new characters and new Doctor. I'm really looking forward to the future eps though (especially the Weeping Angels and Vampire ones) just hope it gets a bit darker (and less childish) now that Steven Moffat is in charge. I'd rate it 7/10 anyways.
April 4, 201015 yr Really $h!t episode in my opinion, but there are encouraging signs with acting etc. Liked Amy and Matt was good but I think he was trying a bit too hard Only reason I watched was Matt really :heehee:
April 4, 201015 yr Tbh, I didn't like the TARDIS, twice the size, half the quality, the glass bit just makes me lol. The acting from Matt and Karen was great though. I just hope Matt settles down a bit now the post-regeneration stuff is done with.
April 4, 201015 yr Have to be honest, after the what I saw of the fourth series was so mediocre and how awful the Xmas/NY specials were, my hopes for this weren't high. But I was pleasantly surprised. I thought Matt Smith and especially the new assistant showed real promise. But we'll see - still a long way to go. 7/10
April 4, 201015 yr What a fantastic episode, and I'm surprised they showed a full trailer... it all looks fab though, so roll on next week! 8.5/10
April 4, 201015 yr Not really been a Doctor Who fan before, and only watched a couple of episodes in the past, but I decided that since it was a new doctor, I'd give it a try, and I liked it :D Will certainly be tuning in next week.
April 6, 201015 yr Author Echo what many have said about how good it is to have DW back :D I loved Matt and Karen more than I could have imaged! Knew Steven M knew what he was doing! So many little bits from The Eleventh Hour that might play a part in this series - a bit like "the bees are disappearing". - Leadworth - the crack in Amys wall showing on the monitor in the Tardis at the end - the Doc looks at it then turns it off...weird! - why no ducks in the pond? - why was the Doctor late back to Amy both times? - The silence will fall - has to be important! - "Pandorical/pandoric will open" - Rory's pass for the hospital - date said it was issued in 1990 but it clearly wasn't '90 - mistake or obviously highlighted to us? - MΨTH on Jeff's laptop - And speaking of Jeff - I hope he will be back  New theme tune has grown on me now I've heard the full version on the website - after watching it a few times though the titles are still not great, I think its the lightning bolts.
April 10, 201015 yr Whilst I liked the episode, I don't think it was anywhere near as good as last week's. Also, I think the ending with Winston Churchill was really cheesy.
April 10, 201015 yr Bit of a pathetic episode, it was very light I didn't think much of it to be honest, I could pick a lot of pot holes but I simply can't be bothered, it was more of a kiddie episode, on the whole very poor, 2/10 I'm not holding out for the 2 parter next week with the Daleks
April 10, 201015 yr It's not a two parter :P Also, that wasn't great but to be fair Episode 2 isn't normally amazing.
April 10, 201015 yr I didn't think a lot of tonight's episode... bizarre plotline and poorly executed imo. It was nowhere near as good as last week's, and I'm not looking forward to seeing the Daleks return for the 4000th time next week.
April 10, 201015 yr Mmmm. A curates egg of an episode. An interesting concept for an episode, badly executed IMHO. I'm really starting to think I'm going to be saying this every week but .. A really well written episode, badly directed. There were a few parts that were inaudible. Whilst I hate to say this but I think this episode has started to show that Matt Smith lacks the acting gravitas of his two predecessors in the role. 5/10 ...... and groan at Winston Churchill with Daleks next week.
April 10, 201015 yr Am i THAT out of touch with the BBC that i had no clue this was on today? #flopmod I knew this was coming soon but i didnt realise it was now! I saw him on Jonathan Ross a few weeks ago and thats all the promo ive seen for it tbh
