Well it was inevitable...

After the first two series of Skins, the producers made the shock decision to axe the entire cast while they were still in their prime (RIP Chris, so long Tony, etc.)

Now, with filming on the fourth series getting underway in Bristol, TT has learned that 'The Gang 2.0' have also been given their marching orders. This will clear the way for another new cast of youths should Skins be recommissioned for its fifth series in 2011.

We hooked up with the cast backstage at T4 On The Beach yesterday to learn more. Hit 'play' below to see our interviews:

Surely the axing of the cast every 2 series will get old? Im thinking they should just end it after the next series

On the contrary I think that axing the cast every two series is what will allow Skins to carry on for years...
I agree with Joao, its a bit silly really. Its good to have new characters but their should still be a good balance of original ones imo.

I thought it was well known they'd only last 2 years?

I think its a good idea and should allow it to go on for quite a while yet. Though there's a chance it will just get tedious after a while.

I just think the aspect of getting to know new characters every 2 years will get boring and tedious to just see them go through the same thing as the previous generation...
I quite like it personally, it keeps it fresh and it's realistic too ... I don't think it would work quite as well when they went off to university and stuff at all.

^Well no it wouldnt work but theres nothing stopping the creators from venturing out from the College days/Education... There are the holidays and not all college students go to University.... Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'm sure there's potential for more interesting storylines through having different characters every 2 years rather than gradually introducing and letting go new and old characters like a soap? I mean they'd all end up having flings with every other character by then

this was expected. And i'm glad it's happening as it keeps it fresh and it also gives them chances to go in different directions.
