Here we go again. Friday 7th Aug, and the usual mix, complete with the Flashback.

A good reason not to see the Combined book chart every week...It`s all Stephanie Meyer, and the kids books! It makes me feel short changed. So, the 11 - 13 are Love Lies - Adele Parks, Dear Fatty - Dawn French, and The Girl Who Played With Fire - Stieg Larson/Reg Keeland.

The proper figures of individual episodes of Neighbours/Home And Away were reallly half of what they said they were! 14 million people certainly did not watch that rubbish. BabyM was a tv film based on the events of an artificially inseminated U.S. mother (Mary Beth Whitehead)...and the following courtcase. The first series of Stars In Their Eyes with the late Leslie Crowther, more stunts with the late Jeremy Beadle, and more tough questions with the late Bob Monkhouse in the 64,000 Dollar Question. Elizabeth Taylor/Robert Wagner starred in the other TV film "There Must Be A Pony". This was the story of a star trying to make a comeback, after a stay in a Mental Hospital.

So, it was those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles giving "Turtle Power" the top spot for 3 weeks, and keeping the kids happy during the Summer hols. For some reason in Britain the word "Ninja" was substituted for "Hero". Ninja is a Japanese word...for a warrior trained in unorthodox arts of war. Suzanne Vega got her acoustic song cut up by DNA. The Vega version was a bootleg circulated around the clubs. DNA stuck some rhythm on. Suzanne approved on the DNA version, then A & M records took over the recording, and put Suzanne on the credits. Madonna had her adult movie "Dick Tracy", and that was where "Hanky Panky" came from. Naked Pearl got their debut hit. MC Hammer nicked "Superfreak" from 1981 (a Rick James hit), and turned it into "You Can`t Touch This". Elton John`s biggest record (at that point) coupled to 1989 minor hits. Bombalurina was really Timmy Mallet covering a Bryan Hyland top ten hit...Timmy hosted the Network Chart for a week in 1985, as a stand in. Prince taking "Thieves" into the top ten...and never forthcoming with letting people viewing his old videos! The anthem was the Soup Dragons "I`m Free". Bass heavy Techno from LFO...not heard since 1990, probably. Canadian Hip-Hop via Dreamwarriors...Everyone knows the other hit "My Definition Of A Boombastic Jazz Style", but can`t remember it was based around "Soul Bossa Nova". 2 hits in for Australian, Craig McClachlan. Belgian based Technotronic seemed to be cutting the same record over and over. More Techno/dancey DJ stuff via Tricky Disco, still doing the rounds. New Kids On The Block followed up "Cover Girl" (Hit 3), with the other catchy "Tonight". River City People covered "California Dreamin". The connection in this chart being Wilson Phillips with a Mamas And Papas/Beach Boys other connection! If you remember Bell Biv Devoe were 3 members of the old New Edition. Hardcore/Rave served up by Jonathon Donaghy/Suddi Raval who were Together. A slightly forgotten Duran Duran hit...played constantly on Independant Radio. Roxette also had 2 records in the top 50. Phil Collins, and Bananarama both had other forgotten singles. Jon Bon Jovi, could have been singing with the band, because the song sounded the same! Little Angels formed in Scarborough in 1984, when they were known as Mr Thrud...I think they should`ve been much bigger personally. ZZ Top "Doubled Back", but stalled at 27. Struggle to remember Paula Abdul`s "Knocked Out"...only having one sneaky week in the top 20. Yet another version of "I Can See Clearly Now", served up by Hothouse Flowers, unable to get the success of "Don`t Go" from 1988. Snap! nicked a touch of the Gap Band from 1980. Sinead O`Conner took an old kids story title...we remember the "Emperor`s New Clothes" were special, they were invisible (but didn`t really exist). Glenn Madeiros teamed up with Bobby Brown..."She Ain`t Worth It", you know! Waiting to put Stone Roses back into the 2009 charts...the 20th Anniversary album coming. Gee Morris was Innocence, and took a track from the album "Belief". Tongue N`Cheek provided Electronic pop, and disbanded in 1991. KLF asked "What Time Is Love?" Then not a year later "America, What Time Is Love?" Go West were heading that way. American Hip Hop from the Jungle Brothers. England didn`t win the World Cup, but "World In Motion" set the chart on fire. We struggle to remember "Wear You To The Ball" and UB40. Sting had a hit with "An Englishman In New York" around Europe in 1989. Not to be confused with a 1980 song from Godley And Creme. GTO had a Rave Anthem that stalled at 46 with "Pure". Lindy Layton did a poor take on Janet Kay from 1979. Heart "Didn`t Want To Need You"...they should`ve because they stalled at 42! Betty Boo had a 2nd solo hit, as Wilson Phillips fell to 50.

... Or not.

I can see the album as a number 1... the single should go top 5.

Anyway, thanks Dave! Great pre orders for Madonna

I can see the album as a number 1... the single should go top 5.

Anything else out that week?

If not, I can see either MJ getting a 7th week at #1 then being overtaken, or BEP/Beyonce/Florence going to #1 next week then being overtaken. Very low sales, so Calvin Harris may get #1.

However, it would be pretty goddamn unfortunate if the top 2 is the same next week then Flo overtakes MJ only to be pipped by Calvin, for 7 weeks at #2...

Dave: what period does the TV chart cover?

I thought The Bill might have picked up some extra viewers by moving back to 9pm, but it would seem not.

Has the Muse album been brought forward to August or is it an error? Thanks for the chart :)

Here comes the finish. This week including the top physicals, the week on iTunes, the Hit40uk top 20, and ending up with the Complete Sales top 50+!

01 03 BLACK EYED PEAS

Obviously up to last Sunday, but I had a request to include this TV Based chart, because as was said it is actually miles better than the Big Top 40 and the old Radio Version of Hit40uk. Noteably because the 11 - 40 is actually much ahead with the inclusion of airplay unlike the dreaded Independant Radio bosses, who can not see the wood through the trees! The Sean Paul newie is the major bubbler outside the Hit40uk top 20.

01 NE NEVER LEAVE YOU - TINCHY STRYDER/AMELLE 1) =1

) Position without downloads alone

= Position on Chart Show tv

Two songs will be missing from the top 75 on Sunday. They are Umbrella - JLS who actually should figure at 37 here behind 3OH!3, and Hitmakers (Birthday Sex) which would figure at 53 in front of Temper Trap...Confusing ain`t it?! Tinchy & Amelle surpass 64,000, that`s 16,000 more than Black Eyed Peas. Also outside the 50 sits Just Dance (GaGa), Temper Trap are there, then Saturdays, Take That back up, Jai Ho is still about, Ciara, Florence "You`ve Got The Love" is 57 (bet you never hear it on Independant Radio). Simian Mobile Disco is 62, Busta Rymes/Estelle are 64, KOL (Use Somebody) back up to 65. David Guetta (Gettin`Over) is in, Nickelback are 69, and Shontelle has "Battle Cry" at 70.

Note: As usual, these are not Official Charts. They are loosely based on the Chart Show tv charts, but with added sales for today and no airplay. Quite simply the most up to date chart in Britain. Brought to you, with great expense every Friday! The Chart Show top 20 videos feature on Sky Ch 365/Freeview 500 9-10.30am on Saturdays/11.1230pm on Sundays.

RAYGUN do better on the physical front. Unfortunately they miss the combined top 75. Other newies in the physical chart include Third Degree (Mercy), Blackout (Save Ourselves), and Foxes (Lover Killer). Alina`s release was cancelled.

:o Why has been Alina canceled?

Dave: what period does the TV chart cover?

I thought The Bill might have picked up some extra viewers by moving back to 9pm, but it would seem not.

The week up to and including 26th July. What date did it switch?

three weeks ago - it doesn't seem to be doing very well... Scottish TV has dropped it and I hear it's a make or break time for it in the rest of the UK.

At one point it was going to switch to Ch5. Wonder what happened to that idea?

Ian Carey will be #10 minimum on Sunday, 90% guaranteed. If not, it'll be top ten next week.

Also, LOL @ Sex On Fire back in the top 50

I think you're right about Ian Carey, would be awesome if Boots was #13 or higher too.
