Last week we had 9 in the 10, 16 in the 20, and 29 in the top 30 combined albums. In the singles, great as ever with 10 in the 10 (nearly the right order), 19 in the 20, 29 in the 30, 37 in the 40, and 48 in the top 50. Just missed out on Britney, and MSTRKRFT. Back in 1988, Radio Luxembourg came up with this: As presented by Shaun Tilley on Monday 7th Aug at 8pm 01 NE THE LOCOMOTION - KYLIE MINOGUE 02 08 THE ONLY WAY IS UP - YAZZ AND THE PLASTIC POPULATION 03 13 I NEED YOU - B.V.S.M.P. 04 03 YOU CAME - KIM WILDE 05 02 SUPERFLY GUY - S EXPRESS 06 09 REACH OUT I`LL BE THERE `88 REMIX - FOUR TOPS 07 03 NOTHING`S GONNA CHANGE MY LOVE FOR YOU - GLENN MADEIROS 08 17 FIND MY LOVE - FAIRGROUND ATTRACTION 09 01 I DON`T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT - EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL 10 18 PEEK A BOO - SIOUXIE AND THE BANSHEES 11 07 PUSH IT/TRAMP - SALT N`PEPA 12 06 I WANT YOUR LOVE - TRANSVISION VAMP 13 05 DIRTY DIANA - MICHAEL JACKSON 14 NE HUSTLE (TO THE MUSIC) - FUNKY WORM 15 12 ROSES ARE RED - MAC BAND 16 NE ROCK MY WORLD - FIVE STAR 17 NE MARTHAS HARBOUR - ALL ABOUT EVE 18 19 ALL FIRED UP - PAT BENATAR 19 10 FOOLISH BEAT - DEBBIE GIBSON 20 20 FEEL THE NEED IN ME - SHAKIN`STEVENS 18 in the 20 for 208 in 1988. Where did they go wrong? Just Shakin`Stevens, and Five Star...they both missed the Gallup Top 20. Shaky was getting a bit lost by now, and recording a Detroit Emeralds hit was not a good move, as they had a hit with it twice. Leif Garret in 1979, and then Forrest did it again in 1983. Five Star were still hanging about. I once worked with the person who ran their Fanclub...Some jumped up woman called Tracey Aspinall. If you looking in Tracey...Only joking, if not Pah! Kylie made the top for 208...bit of a disappointing time for old Ky, some many records stalling at #2. The Summer of 1988, was pretty hot, and Yazz provided the anthem for 1988, as it became the biggest seller of the year (until some bloke called Cliff stole the title, at Christmas)! Percy, Frederick, and Calvin were BVSMP. What did those initials mean? It was "Baby Virgo Shocking Master P". The song slightly nicked by Goldie Lookin Chain in 2004 on "You Knows I Love You". Kin Wilde was still pumping then out, sucessfully. S Express couldn`t get another charttopper. The Glenn Madeiros record was written by George Benson...and was also recorded by Englebert Humperdinck at the same time. Fairground Attraction slightly struggled after the abomination that was the over-played "Perfect" (I couldn`t stand it)! Salt N`Pepa stalled at 2, with another 88 anthem. Everything But The Girl finally got a big hit...a cover of a Rod Stewart #1, originally recorded by Crazy Horse in 1971, and penned by group leader Danny Whitten. Siouxie And The Banshees were on the job, again...when did you last hear them on the radio? Wendy James provided the looks of 88, as lead with Transvision Vamp. Did we really need the Four Tops remix?! 1966`s biggest climber of the year going from 16 to 1 in a week. The Mac Band along with the McCampbell brothers were all over the radio, but peaked at 8. Funky Worm were providing the trancey/dancey/housey stuff. Michael Jackson was trying to sound innocent with "Dirty Diana". Martha`s Harbour appeared famously on TOTP, but didn`t appear to mime...apparently a protest, and not a mistake, as some think. Debbie Gibson was proving her popularity was better than Tiffany! Pat Benatar...the 4 times winning Grammy, Brooklyn star was getting "All Fired Up" again. Pat shares her birthday with 3 other stars...that`s Rod Stewart, Johnny Ray, and other Buzzjack member Trevs! 3 Songs sure to flop in coming weeks are: Athlete "Superhuman Touch" (The Ivor Novello Award winning band from Deptford) Released on 17th Aug. Madness "Sugar And Spice"....a download only flop version for Suggs and Co. Troubadours "Gimme Love"...A re-release of a 2007 song by the indie group from Liverpool/Runcorn/Wigan. 3 Picks To Click in coming weeks are: T.I./Mary J. Blige "Remember Me"...Can T.I. get back in the chart with Mary? Released on 24th Aug. Mini Viva "Left My Heart In Tokyo"....Recently performing on the Saturdays tour. Voted catchiest song of 2009. My tip for the top on Sunday 13th Sept. Paolo Nutini "Coming Up Easy"...Can Paolo follow up "Candy", with ease? The Singles Preview: 01 NE NEVER LEAVE YOU - TINCHY STRYDER/AMELLE 02 01 I GOTTA FEELING - BLACK EYED PEAS 03 02 BEAT AGAIN - JLS 04 03 SUPERNOVA - MR HUDSON 05 05 I KNOW YOU WANT ME - PITBULL 06 04 EVACUATE THE DANCEFLOOR - CASCADA 07 08 SWEET DREAMS - BEYONCE 08 06 BULLETPROOF - LA ROUX 09 09 PAPARAZZI - LADY GAGA 10 07 WHEN LOVE TAKES OVER - DAVID GUETTA 11 13 DIAMOND RINGS - CHIPMUNK 12 10 POPPIHOLLA - CHICANE 13 12 BOOM BOOM POW - BLACK EYED PEAS 14 11 BATTLEFIELD - JORDIN SPARKS 15 NE REMEDY - LITTLE BOOTS 16 NE KEEP YOUR HEAD UP - GIRLS CAN`T CATCH 17 17 RABBIT HEART - FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE 18 14 KNOCK YOU DOWN - KERI AND CO. 19 15 RELEASE ME - AGNES 20 16 IN FOR THE KILL - LA ROUX 21 19 NEVER FORGET YOU - NOISETTES 22 20 RED - DANIEL MERRIWEATHER 23 23 BONKERS - DIZZEE RASCAL 24 18 MAN IN THE MIRROR - MICHAEL JACKSON 25 36 BEAUTIFUL - EMINEM 26 25 POKERFACE - LADY GAGA 27 22 HUSH HUSH - PUSSYCAT DOLLS 28 31 CONFUSION GIRL - FRANKMUSIK 29 37 FIRE BURNING - SEAN KINGSTON 30 24 DON`T TRUST ME - 3OH!3 31 21 MAMA DO - PIXIE LOTT 32 26 NUMBER ONE - TINCHY STRYDER 33 49 JUMP - FLO RIDA 34 47 FUNHOUSE - PINK 35 NE GET SHAKY - IAN CAREY PROJECT 36 28 UNTOUCHED - VERONICAS 37 29 FIRE - KASABIAN 38 27 I MADE IT THROUGH THE RAIN - JOHN BARROWMAN 39 30 HEARTBREAK MAKE ME A DANCER - FREEMASONS 40 32 NOT FAIR - LILY ALLEN 41 44 I`M NOT ALONE - CALVIN HARRIS 42 40 21 GUNS - GREEN DAY 43 38 KISS ME THRU THE PHONE - SOULJA BOY 44 NE I DON`T WANNA RUN NO MORE - VAGABOND 45 34 HALO - BEYONCE 46 41 NEW DIVIDE - LINKIN PARK 47 51 I`M YOURS - JASON MRAZ 48 52 ROCK IT - SUB FOCUS 49 35 WAKING UP IN VEGAS - KATY PERRY 50 43 JUST DANCE - LADY GAGA Outside the 50, 22 - LILY ALLEN, CHEAT ON ME - CRIBS, YOU`VE GOT THE LOVE - FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE, BIRTHDAY SEX - HITMAKERS, WORLD GO ROUND - BUSTA RYMES/ESTELLE, BATTLE CRY - SHONTELLE...Add to that TEMPER TRAP, and SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO. The Cribs are increasing the most at the moment, and are in the top 20 on one download site. Girls Can`t Catch are the physical #1! JLS and "Umbrella" would really be #37.
August 3, 200916 yr GCC surely won't be that high. Good to see The Cribs and Vagabond in there, and Ian Carey too. Boots should be higher by Sunday, and Mr Hudson will probably overtake JLS.
August 3, 200916 yr Just did a little research if BEPs end up at #2 this week, their physical release for IGF is out next Monday, it could do a repeat of BBP, going back to #1 on its physical release, how's that for a chart fact.

That's a good chart fact, but it won't. Also, did BEP go back to #1 on physical release? I could swear it was already physically released...

August 3, 200916 yr Author Thanks Dave :) Sorry about the videos, I'll try to slot them in in the week :) Never mind Tom. It was just one of those things! We even lost the Almost Sats, over the Weekend!
August 3, 200916 yr I'm confused - was this thread started today? if so, why is the posting date for Dave's initial post from a week ago, July 27?
August 4, 200916 yr JLS and "Umbrella" would really be #37. if it sold enough would it be eligable for YTD....? Edited August 4, 200916 yr by CianS
August 4, 200916 yr I'm confused - was this thread started today? if so, why is the posting date for Dave's initial post from a week ago, July 27? Dave prepped it with the retro stuff in advance. Nothing sinister :heehee: TBH if it's OK I'm not going to do the videos for now, but I will definitely sort them for you next week, unless anyone is desperate for them?
