Donny Osmond?

How dare you soil such good lyrics with such an awful name <_<

Have you thought that maybe the proposed album title is a play on what has happened to the ultimate video star of the 1980s MTV generation Michael Jackson?

the title refers to a song he wrote - referred to in a blog in May 2005 (yes yes I know!!!!)

Oh ICR :(

You have all his blogs since 1992 saved away in a special wee folder

Interesting album title! Release date is November 9th now.

Single 'Bodies' on October 12th.

Robbie Williams is hoping to win back his crown as Britain's biggest pop star with a new album in November.

Reality Killed The Video Star will be his first release since 2006's Rudebox, which met with a tepid reception from fans and critics.

Williams described the new record as "a killer". He said listeners would hear "old Robbie, new Robbie and a Robbie that neither of us have met".

The first single from the album, Bodies, will be released on 11 October.

Writing on his blog, Williams revealed he had rewritten one of his new songs in tribute to Michael Jackson.

"couldn't get a lyric to fit on one of the new songs. When he passed away I rewrote it with him in mind," he said.

The star added that he had enlisted the help of lyricist Don Black, who co-wrote one of Jackson's earliest solo hits, Ben, as well as the Bond themes Thunderball and Diamonds Are Forever.

"I was having a tough time with lyrics for a little while," he wrote. "Nothing would come out.

"Don Black kindly came in and gave me a helping hand. He's the nicest legend I've ever met. I love him."

Low profile

Talking about the new album, Williams said: "I really hope it's as good as I think it is. We'll see. I'm sure you'll let me know."

A video on Williams' official website contains instrumental snippets from some of his new songs.

OMG :o Finally we have official info

From the official:

We're very excited to announce that Robbie Williams will be releasing his much-anticipated new album, Reality Killed The Video Star, on November 9th, 2009.

However, ahead of that, the first single to be released will be Bodies, on October 12th, with the digital version available one day earlier on the 11th.

As you'll know from Robbie's blogs, he has been busy working on the new material with Trevor Horn, who has produced both the album and the single.

The video clip on the homepage, also featured below, is exclusive to RobbieWilliams.com and takes us behind-the-scenes of Robbie's first day back at work..!

Cheers, RyRy :D

I am very suprised to hear the first single is 'Bodies' :o That was the song we heard a snippet of ages back wasnt it? And didnt he say none of the songs he would let us hear via blogs would ever be singles  It prob sounds completely different now then it did back then though.

A bit annoyed the album date has been pushed back - was hoping we would hear the single by the end of the month, but now it will be sometime next month I suspect. From the vid on the official, you can hear the music from what I presume is some new material. Sounds quite electro but not like Rudebox. Cannot wait to hear the album and what Bodies will sound like

The Official Press Release via UKMIX

ROBBIE WILLIAMS RELEASES HIS HUGELY ANTICIPATED BRAND NEW SINGLE “BODIES” ON OCTOBER 12, FOLLOWED BY HIS NEW ALBUM “REALITY KILLED THE VIDEO STAR” ON NOVEMBER 9.

The amazing ROBBIE WILLIAMS releases his brand new single and album later this year on EMI’s Virgin Records.

The singer, who has sold a staggering 55 million albums worldwide, releases his new single “Bodies” on October 12 (digital release October 11).

This will be followed by his new album “Reality Killed the Video Star” which will be released on November 9.

Both single and album were produced by Trevor Horn and were recorded and mixed in London.

Robbie Williams has consistently set new records for album and ticket sales, not least when he entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2006 having sold 1.6 million tickets on one day for his 2006 tour. That tour played to 3.7 million people in total. Three years previously he played the biggest live music event in UK history when his 3 nights at Knebworth saw him play to over 365,000 people.

Robbie has also won more Brit Awards than any other artist to date, has won 3 Ivor Novello awards for songwriting and holds the UK record for the fastest selling Greatest Hits album ever – that same album reaching number 1 in 18 countries.

Great news! :o As a someone from a HUGE minority who thought Rudebox was the best album he'd made since I've Been Expecting You I hope this wins back the Sun readers who started hating him because he DARED to do something slightly different :drama: And as someone who can't stand Take That I really hope it knocks them off their pedestal in this country. :P Anyway Rudebox didn't do THAT bad critically in a way.. it was the first Robbie album to get above a 5 in the NME as they gave it 8!

Anyway we know no matter what it's gonna do well around Europe as usual! If an apparent 'flop' album can be #1 in 17 countries then who knows what a successful album can do? :o

Video on official page is amazing.
