Are we really gonna start getting into jewel cases and discs and jewel cases at different angles etc? Not that I mind doing that, but I do think it gives those of us who do it an unfair advantage over those who don't. Also, it just makes the whole process more messy when it comes to displaying the entries when voting. Can we have some restrictions before it gets too ridiculous? "Oh and here's the free fold-out poster, and this is a shot of me inserting the disc into my computer etc etc..."

Dutton, I don't understand your point of view... I made "extras" with jewel case for my cover of this week and did it several times in the past on this forum, no complains were received, on contrary. It is always for fun not for glory. For the competition, you know and I know that there will only be the "classic" format to vote for... ;)

Oh I hope I've not started sommat with the jewel case, tbf those of us that CAN do it have earned it by learning the skills to do it, it's not hard to experiment with whatever program you've got to try and make it better with a jewel case, and if you've got Photoshop I'd be more than willing to send anyone the instructions and the .PSD file on how to do it the way I did it or for you to try different things out yourself, I just always do every cover really in them because I love the whole professional-ish effect it gives!

 

Oh and djcharly (I'm not sure if your name is ACTUALLY Charly, so I'm just gonna use your username, do excuse me!), absolutely FANTASTIC work, I adore the cover even without it's jewel-caseyness!

Hmm I suppose, maybe some people just wanna have fun, I'm sure people would think like you, because even if someone puts it in a case and it's actually really quite bad it doesn't stop a crap cover from being crap, so the best one will win regardless I hope!

I like seeing people doing all this stuff - it makes me quite jealous but it's great to see the versatility in covers.

I don't have Photoshop :( I've got GIMP - it does the job, it's just I can't do the job very well :lol:

I have Photoshop at our computers but I'm an idiot at it. XD

 

My cover this week though was made in Photoshop, but that's all I can do ATM. :lol:

In fact, when I finished my standard format, I found the result very pretty and wanted to test printed CD etc... it's a need for me as a designer, I try to break monotony and have to admit, Lewis and his fantastic cover made me think about experimenting this kind of things once again. ^_^ You think it's stupid Dutton and I sincerely regret that.

The thing is some of us don't have the time to experiment I love to try and do it myself, but I just have time restrictions at the moment, I think its best to just leave them as standard issue, but I do love the different concepts, I think for the main competition just keep them to a standard issue, and just add the extras like Charly did I think that's fair for everyone else.
