That's brilliant, just yesterday I was worrying about the ratings so far this season.

I feel bad for not having caught up on this yet...will have to stream it on the weekend from somewhere

This is one of favorite television show, I just wanna discuss about this show over here with you guys.

I think detachment fits better as Damon's driving force: he detached himself from Caroline & Isobel despite he turned them, he detaches himself from Bonnie & Alaric whenever he "sacrifices" them, he's willing to detach himself from Sheriff Forbes & Stefan whenever he plots against them and he repeteadly detaches himself from girlfriends like Andie, Rose or Bree right before they die.

If Damon is able to keep these emotions under control, then I see no reason for Lexi to help him.

I couldn't disagree more.

For one, as far as Caroline and Isobel are concerned, Damon had no attachment to detach himself from. The fact that he turned them has no bearing at all on anything in the cannon.

They are the only known vampires Damon turned himself: either this means Damon detaches himself from every vampire he makes or that the show is going against the vampire mythology established by the genre. I don't see how could that not be important for the canon of the show.

What are your views?

I've actually not felt the last couple of episodes in the same way as before..Can't explain it really, just haven't been as hooked.

Should hopefully improve this week though with it being the midseason/fall finale - seems to be quite early on, not even halfway through November, but I think it's returning sooner too, right at the start of 2012.

Just watched the latest episode of this.

I felt a little little down by the episode to be honest. I didn't like the absence of Caroline and also didn't like how

Jeremy is moving away and probably won't be in the show for a while

Is it just me or does the whole Klaus plot seem totally stupid and aimless now? I mean he wants to get back his family but what then? He'll try and kill Elena and her loved ones? They keep threatening to kill all her loved ones and it's getting old fast. When he gathers up an army of hybrids is he actually going to try and do something significant with them or is he just lonely?

It makes me miss when Katherine was the main villain, at least she was unpredictable. Klaus is just "blah blah kill everyone you hold dear blah blah".

I have to agree, Katherine was a lot better and I don't get why he put the

dagger back in his sister? She'd make a much better villain/bitch.

I hope Jeremy isn't

away too long, he's one of my favourites, moreso than someone like Bonnie or Caroline.

Nice to see Torrey DeVitto from 'Pretty Little Liars' joining the cast though, at least for a few episodes.

Proper geek moment for me in the last episode. Even though I hate the VD books, a lot of fans have wanted the character of

Meredith in the series since the start (she is one of Elena's best friends and a vampire hunter, and also romantically involved with Alaric). And bingo, that doctor woman :o

.

Klaus does bore me to tears now though. He's not even good to look at it when he looks all washed up and crazy :(

Klaus is what Shaggy from Scooby Doo would be like if he was insane. He's evil Shaggy.

Are you following this, people? Last night's twist left me with so many questions, for example

if Rebekah is Esther then who was the other Esther?

, I can't wait for next episode and I hope it's explained!

Anyone else finding the relationships in this show quite fickle? It's ridiculous. They keep jumping around to one another. The best episodes are the ones where they concentrate less on the relationships.
Yes I freaking hate the love triangle. I'm beginning to really dislike Elena, she's a hypocrite and shows little concern for others except herself and her two vampire sex buddies. Also the originals plot is getting stale and I wish we'd move on from that.

I hate it when cult shows become all about 'shipping'. It's pathetic. It STILL happens with Buffy and it annoys the hell out of me with Harry Potter. I do find the relationship aspect of the show extremely boring and watch for the twists and the mythology etc. Last night's episode was also drab I thought, though I loved the recurring Jekyll & Hyde theme with most of the characters. Rose was under-used, Damon and Kol had a showdown in a public place outside of Mystic Falls and nobody batted an eyelid etc etc.

That said, Rebekah is AMAZING. She carried last night. I was originally indifferent to her but she breaks my heart with every scene she's in. Any mother who hears their daughter say she's lived a 1000 years but feels she's hardly lived at all who responds with a fake death scene and a body-jacking session is a ho -_-. I really hope Rebekah comes back. She's the only Original I'd care to keep around now. They need to move onto a new threat which is not vampire related and focus on the characters that hardly get any progression or focus (Cough Bonnie - 'I'm only called to do a spell and grizzle about my mum before vanishing for three episodes').

Does anyone feel this season isn't as good as the first two seasons? :(

Even with the latest twist to the storyline I just felt a bit "meh" about it. Not to mention Klaus has bee such a boring villain. The last exciting thing he did was when he killed Jenna during the sacrifice, since then he's been going downhill because all he ever does now is threaten to kill everybody Elena loves....talk about broken record.

I think I'd enjoy Matt as a villain more than Klaus.

Joao, yeah I can definitely see that. For the last few weeks I've been watching episodes of Buffy.....and when you compare the two shows the relationships in Buffy really do mean something and they seem more realistic. TVD is definitely too heavy on the "destined love" and "love will conquer all" nonsense. Some times I end up cringing when they fall into each others arms like the end of a disney movie.

Well at least it seems we're now free of Klaus for the time being. He was a lousy villain. I want Katherine and Elijah back, I think he'll be in the season finale.

Looking forward to the evolution of Dark Bonnie, I think that's where she's heading.

I was so happy to be rid of Klaus. Though his insane 'throw anything I can get my hands on into the house' business was priceless. I echo people's comments however. It says something when The Secret Circle has become absolutely amazing and TVD is flailing in comparison. I still hope we can clear up all of this Originals nonsense and reboot in Season 4 with something fresh. I doubt that'll happen though as

Elijah is back in the finale and if Alaric is after the council, he may become the villain next year :/

I heard they're introducing new characters next year, so I'm hoping there will be a new villain.

Did anybody watch the finale? Boring shipping crap aside, I thought it was FABULOUS and a definite sign there's still life in the show yet. Especially as I had begun to doubt it this year. SEPTEMBER PLEASE COME NOWS! :(

Such a strange but overall good season, sad it's finished.

That stuff with Alaric/The Darkness was a little weird though. I actually liked Klaus.
