Liverpool looked far weaker minus a Alonso/Barry in the centre of the park.

On the evidence of that performance they have absolutely no chance of winning the title this season.

I thought Lucas looked pretty good. There's no-one in the world who plays the same game as Alonso does. Even with Barry, he's more box-to-box (like Aqualini) so our play would be different.

We didn't play too well, but we were against a team with the best home record in the EPL last season, and who usually play well against the big teams. No need for alarm bells to start ringing yet. I do think we're a bit weak on cover, but I remain convinced Rafa will still sign 1/2 more players.

I have to say your bench was shockingly poor today. Ayala? Spearing? Kelly? Voronin? Yes they're all decent players and players you want to call upon at times throughout the season, but you don't want them all on your bench as early as the first game! I do think Liverpool lack the strength in depth to win the title. And Benayoun must always start, Babel is awful.

To be fair Ayala and Kelly are good. Kelly imo will be a future England and Liverpool captain (bold prediction I know!). Ayala played well when he came on and he's only 17/18. To be fair we do have quite a few injuries/people missing. El Zhar, Riera, Agger, Aurellio, Aqualini, N'Gog. I'd feel a bit better about the season if we had a few more good squad players however. Have a feeling Voronin will be gone so we'll be needing another striker. Hopefully Negredo, and for less than Hull offered. Wouldn't mind Distin either, just while the younger players get adjusted to the 1st team a bit more. But it wouldn't suprise me if we signed someone like Turner - as it's evidently clear while Carragher is a very very good defender, his lack of pace is surely going to be a bit of cause to him being a liability.

The biggest injustive ever? I THINK SO.

It really confuses me why every other sport IMAGINABLE has the technology we need here, yet the FA wont do it.. And as already mentioned, how the shizzle are we supposed to respect referees in events like THIS?

It's not the FA though, it's FIFA. It'd take 30 seconds to check something like that (similarily to cricket), but Sep Blatter is too far up his own arse that it won't ever happen whilst he's head of FIFA, infact, I doubt it will ever happen.

Referees have too many rules to follow. It affects their judgement of the game. Like it or not they're only human and they get stuff wrong. Admittedly most of the time they get stuff wrong, but try watching League 2, or BSP football then you'll think Premier League/Championship refs are GODS.

Oh and can I just say LEE DIXION YOU ARE A FUCKING NUMPTY

"Liverpool only lost two league games with Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres in the team"

Coincidently they were the only two league games we lost last year. Can't believe we pay for people like him to spout his stuff when he doesn't even have a clue. :puke2:

Sunderland beating Chelsea so far 1-0. Thought they might spring a suprise, maybe i'm speaking too early though.

Chelsea were poor against Hull, and their bench looked as good/below par as Liverpool's on Saturday (same for Man Utd's).

Lol! Don't you mean Sunderland are beating Hull  Darren Bent scored infront of Fabio! Arsenal also leading at half time too! As are Wolves.

No!

Whoops I meant Chelsea! My fingers were in another world!

Now Chelsea are winning :(

They look to be p***ing it. I guess Sunderland's heads have dropped and they've accepted they're going to get beat.

My accumilators look to be f***ed for the night as well. :(

In the lower leagues, Carlisle beat Stockport County for their first league win of the season. Beaten by Brentford, drew against Millwall and a win this evening. Hopefully this will get them into a good run. 3 games without a loss if I include the Carling Cup win over Oldham.

1-0 Burnley.

A brilliantly struck goal by MY GOD we cannot defend to save our lives tonight :/

Great result for Burnley - cue three days worth of analysis of how Man U are a poorer side without Ronaldo.

Happy days for Liverpool - crisis? what crisis!!

I had Burnley down to draw with Man Utd... didn't see them winning though LOL!!!! Think it's times like that when Fergie wishes Real Madrid weren't such c**ts with Ronaldo.

Also anyone doubting why Liverpool payed so much for Johnson should watch the game against Stoke. He's exactly the sort of player we needed.

:(

Slightly gutted, obviously, but kudos to Burnley. Deserved the win over the 90 minutes, we couldn't get a shot in and their defence was fairly solid in comparison to our shoddy display which gifted them their goal after about a minute of trying to clear :/

Oh well, only 2 games in, its not that important? :kink:
