September 13, 200915 yr Author Part and parcel of football is taking stick from opposition fans. Stevie Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole etc. take it week in week out from the same people who call them their heroes when they play for England. Adebayor got a bit of stick from the Arsenal fans (who were definitely in the minority) and he goes mental. Just imagine what he'll be like at the Emirates. There was no need for it. And his quite blatant stamp on Van Persie was uncalled for too. Hes just a horrible twat. Neither Man City or Arsenal impressed me much yesterday. Both sets of defending was pretty woeful. Man City just had that extra bit of experience up front, and a fired up Adebayor to help them past Arsenal. Both teams have great attacking flair, but if you can't defend you've got no chance of winning the title. Saying that I fancy Man City to beat Man Utd, but that's purely because it's a derby.
September 19, 200915 yr Disappointing 2-0 defeat for Carlisle away at Oldham today. :( Carlisle have struggling Portsmouth on Tuesday in the Carling Cup. Could produce an upset, but I have a reservation about this in that our home form is not as good as the away form this season. I live in hope. ;) Bit of a surprise that Norwich City managed a draw against Charlton Athletic today, thought they would have got hammered.
September 19, 200915 yr Author If anyone wants to make some money, then back Hull to go down. As a complete neutral who didn't really care about the result (although I wanted Birmingham to win as they were in my accumilator) they were terrible. The only way they'll stay up is if they get a decent defender or three in January. Their attack looks $h!t as well. Was impressed with Birmingham though. And they only had 6 subs !!!
September 19, 200915 yr You wouldn't really make anything on it though, unless you put your life savings on it...
September 19, 200915 yr Thomas Vermaelen, what a hero. Looking forward to the Manchester derby tomorrow, think United will win but it should be an interesting match ^_^
September 19, 200915 yr Author You wouldn't really make anything on it though, unless you put your life savings on it... But I can't see how they would stay up. They just look so flat. Speaks volumes when Birmingham away from home could have easily beaten Hull 6-0 had it not been for their goalkeeper ! I'm fully expecting Carlton Cole to be wearing a Liverpool jersey next season as well. I only saw bits of the game - but he tore Carragher a new arsehole. Is a Rafa type of player as well, and would certainly help with the new impending rules that are coming into force next season. I hope both the Manc derby and Chelsea Spurs are draws.
September 19, 200915 yr We're just a $h!t team. We have a few good players who don't work well together. The only reason we didn't lose as many as we should of last season is because of Michael Turner, and I can't blame him for wanting to join a better team.

The only reason we didn't lose as many as we should of last season is because of Michael Turner, and I can't blame him for wanting to join a better team. You definitely miss him at the back. Your defenders look just a bit clueless really. Hesselink looks an absolute bake. Barmby should retire.
September 19, 200915 yr Phil Brown is just an awful manager. I don't think you were any worse than Stoke in the Championship. But Tony Pulis used cash so much better. It says it all when Hull have two players in their starting XI that couldn't get a game for Stoke last season. And what happened to all of the money you had? You were apparently bidding £12m for players but who did you get? Ghilas, Sonko, Altidore, Venegoor, McShane and Hunt, signed for pretty much what Turner was sold for!
September 19, 200915 yr It's a shame really because he has the full backing of the chairman, pretty much as much money as he wants and it seems players just don't want to come here. Re-signing that donkey McShane didn't help matters either. It's says alot about how much players don't like him if we can't even sign Daryl Murphy. Edited September 19, 200915 yr by Jonny
September 19, 200915 yr Liverpool = another awful performance despite the positive result. Carragher = all of a sudden his age has caught up with him. He is suddenly looking like a real liability, especially with Glen "can't defend to save his life, so thank goodness he is damn good at going forward and crossing" Johnson leaving him exposed so often. Lucas = what is the point, how many times does he have to play before Rafa gets the message that he is not up to scratch. The lack of a squad = thanks to those thieving Yanks who bought the club on debt so that Liverpool need to make £38 million profit each year to break even and service the loans. No hope, no chance of winning the title this year; and with Spurs & Man City we could very easily be outside the top four by the end of the summer. Mind you the Premiership has found the new Cristiano Ronaldo. All hail the Hammers Zavon Hines the new Premiership king of divers. And as for that penalty, since when could you kick the ball twice and a goal still stand, I thought it was illegal???? But the man called Diamanti asked the referee and he said yes, a goal.
September 19, 200915 yr At which point did Hines dive? I'm sure if he wanted to dive he could've had a damn good go at getting Liverpool a man down with barely a minute on the clock. And he was certainly fouled for each of the three times he got a Liverpool player booked. He had a fantastic game.

Are you mad? Honestly if you think Lucas is not up to scratch then I seriously suggest you watch one Liverpool game and just focus on Lucas. He's going to be the real deal in the future. He's still got a bit to learn but i've always been impressed with him, and this season he's been really good on the whole. People just use him as a scapegoat when things go wrong, a bit like Kuyt in 2007. Him and Mascherano are a pretty awesome partnership. Gonna be a real headache for Rafa when Aqualini is fit. The only problem with Liverpool at the moment is the defence, and mainly Carragher. The balance isn't quite right there yet. From open play we look fine, but at set pieces we look a bit weak. Now before anyone wanks off on the zonal marking bollocks, it's fine. It just needs to be tweaked a little. We miss an arieal threat at the back now Hyypia's gone. Can't wait till Agger's back (hopefully before the Chelsea match) as we look pretty weak in central defence. Carragher is usually $h!t against Drogba so God knows what he'll be like in 2 weeks time. Our attack is the shizzle, and our midfield is pretty hot. It's just the defence that needs tweaking. Hoping Agger shapes us up a little.
September 19, 200915 yr The commentator said that each of the 9 goals Liverpool have conceded this season have been from a set piece. There's obviously more than a bit wrong with their marking system, although they weren't all from corners, two needless penalties...

There's obviously more than a bit wrong with their marking system, although they weren't all from corners, two needless penalties... We've no arieal threat. Either that, or attackers have found a way to get through zonal marking. It just needs tweaking a little. At the moment we're a pretty small side so we're weak against big players. From what i've read our defence just couldn't handle Carlton Cole, he was a real handful. Carragher's been past his best for a while now, it's only because he's been a loyal servant that he gets a free pass from criticism really. He's still a top defender, but he's got no strength and he's as slow as a donkey. A liability at times (shown by the penalties conceded).
September 19, 200915 yr West Ham's front three did indeed cause problems whenever they got the ball, especially in the first half. Hines absolutely raped everyone bar Johnson for pace, especially Carragher, Cole the same for strength, and Diamanti looked very skillful. He could be a real find. I thought Johnson was quite good defensively too today, he got skinned too easily by Ilunga once but he saved an almost certain goal getting his head to the ball before Hines could kick it in from three yeards.
September 19, 200915 yr After one defeat (albeit embarassing) to what is by far and away the best team in the Championship?!

I've always been a fan of Kuyt. But Lucas, sorry if you seriously think he is up to scratch filling in for Alonso then you are consistamntly watching a different player to me. All Lucas seems to be good at his heading into his own net. Because he seems incapable of threading a great pass forward like Alonso could do in his sleep. The bottom line today we were very poor against a very weakened injury hit West Ham side with only the world class Torres & Gerrard saving our embarrassment. We've been poor all season with the exception of our away win at Stoke. We were very poor against the Hungarian side midweek, and at this rate if we play like we are at the moment when we come up against Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd & Man City we are going to be beaten comfortably because they will tear us apart especially on zonal marking.

Yeah our problem is we struggle against physical front players. Our defence has never been very speedy, but they're all intelligent players and Carragher has excellent positioning skills. From the little bits I saw of the game Skrtel gave it as good as he got against Cole, but from what i've read really Carragher just got blitzed aginst him. Insua and Johnson are too excellent full backs, and I think both have been superb this season. But Liverpool just give away too many silly and needless free-kicks. We're weak at set-pieces at the moment. We've lost a lot of height over the summer, and we've no-one really whose good enough at heading balls to defend set-pieces. At the end of the day, alright Liverpool 'just' won although I don't believe that to be the case, as I saw the last 10 minutes and West Ham had pretty much had the stuffing knocked out of them. West Ham are a good team, and Upton Park is not an easy place to go to...
