November 17, 200915 yr After a 4 game unbeaten run, we lost 3-2 to Bristol Rovers. :( Two home wins (Southend and Charlton), a draw against Morecambe and an away win against Chesterfield. Morecambe away this evening. I am hoping we beat them this time. They are a League 2 side compared to Carlisle's League 1 status.
November 17, 200915 yr I so swear I smack my head against the desk when I hear about Boro loan deals, especially up front. I might as well go and join up, I'd score more the rate our lot bang them in. Thank goodness for Johnson (probably not for much longer :()

Thank goodness for Johnson (probably not for much longer :() Good news, we're apparently bidding for him in Jan and he's a Sunderland supporter.
November 18, 200915 yr At least we managed to win after a blip against Bristol Rovers on Saturday. We are through to the next round. At home to Norwich City. I think it is going to be broadcast on the internet (FA website). :cheer:
November 18, 200915 yr There's nowt wrong with Kitson, he's a quality striker. He's never settled in Stoke though cos he didn't like not being down south. So, good luck at Boro! :D
November 18, 200915 yr Football is corrupt Part 2516. Watch France's goal against Ireland thanks to the hand of Thierry Henry it makes Diego Maradona's hand of God look like a pure accident in comparison. But what can Ireland expect with no replays allowed in the World's biggest Game run by Sepp Blatter and assisted by Frenchman Michel Platini.
November 18, 200915 yr Author OK - i've not seen the incident, but I can't think of any player who would actively hold their hand up and admit they had handled the ball. Let alone in such a massive game where apparently the Irish were much the better side. Henry would be hated by his own country. Probably harder to have that on his concience (sp?) than the whole of the world thinking he's a cheat, but will probably forget about it come a few weeks... (aside the irish of course!)
November 18, 200915 yr Here it is (to quote tomorrow's Sun Newspaper Headline) hpBoNLzvHrk "The Hand Of Frog"
November 19, 200915 yr Football is corrupt Part 2516. You really love being melodramtic don't you? If anyone is going to be blamed its the linseman for not seeing it. Many players in Henry's situation would have probably done the same given the circumstances but just not got away with it. I can understand some of the reaction but statements like this are laughable and pretty embrrassing too. Much bigger cheats are in the game that Henry for God's sake and much bigger acts of cheating have happened too.
November 19, 200915 yr Football itself is not corrupt, but we all know UEFA itself is. First Chelsea v Barcelona and now this. Whilst once again I hardly believe Platini orchestrated cheating, i'm sure he was rubbing his hands with glee at the referee's pathetic decision.
November 19, 200915 yr  You really love being melodramtic don't you? If anyone is going to be blamed its the linseman for not seeing it. Many players in Henry's situation would have probably done the same given the circumstances but just not got away with it. I can understand some of the reaction but statements like this are laughable and pretty embrrassing too. Much bigger cheats are in the game that Henry for God's sake and much bigger acts of cheating have happened too. I completely disagree. Maradona only used his hand once; Henry used his hand twice, and on the second occasion it was pretty disgustingly blatant to assist Gallas with scoring that goal. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/46756000/jpg/_46756856_thierryhenry282.jpg Besides, I don't remember the British national Government going to FIFA in 1986 to demand the WC QF v Argentina be replayed unlike this scenario 23 years later?
November 19, 200915 yr As far as I saw he used it once? then kicked it across to Gallas to head it in? Over-reaction in here. Maradona used his hand to SCORE therefore is a bigger cheat. They shouldn't get a rematch, this is football, 99% of the time he/any other player wouldn't have gotten away with this just happens to fall into the other 1%.
November 19, 200915 yr I don't think it is an overreaction. I don't agree with the Irish government discussing it, but the public have every right to call for a rematch because it wasn't "fair play" (bear in mind that is one of FIFA's slogans :P). It was a double handball and a double offside, so I fail to see how both the ref and the linesman (is that the correct word?) didn't see it as the entire stadium saw it regardless of where they were all sitting. I rarely watch sports on TV, but this was hilariously obvious on FIFA's part. The thought of potentially having the World Cup without France made certain officials foam at the mouth. :P
November 21, 200915 yr So to sum up now FIFA have said 'non' to a replay, they quite clearly condone handball. Hiding behind their Louis Walsh style rulebook insisting if the ref missed it then tough luck. Not quite what they say when they ban players post matches for violent conduct. But all this hooah wouldn't even have caught a flutter if Ireland finished the job off properly.
November 21, 200915 yr I thought Roy Keane's reaction to the whole situation was brilliant: IMHwCbbG6WY
November 21, 200915 yr Author There was no way Fifa were ever going to condone a replay. Can you imagine what it would cause? Everytime there was a controversial issue everyone would want a replay. Would create mayhem. What's done is done. Whilst I feel sorry for Ireland, there's nothing that can be done.
November 21, 200915 yr I thought Roy Keane's reaction to the whole situation was brilliant: IMHwCbbG6WY Roy Keane = great player, but a complete nutcase. I mean Roy Keane still to this day thinks this was a fair tackle which ended a fellow professional footballers career: AElXm7GDCPw Roy Keane was the biggest prick football has ever seen. Period.
November 21, 200915 yr Legendary response. It is exactly what I said tbh, cheating goes on all the time, players hand balling, diving etc. it always happens and will happen again. Handballs have led to goals before I'm sure and they weren't replayed. If a game in the championship for example isn't replayed because of an incident like this then it shouldn't be at this level. While it should be stopped, we can't do anything about it NOW, we can just hope and wish that FIFA would see sense that video technology should be used. As for Henry I agree completely. It was instincts, the majority of people would instinctively stick a hand out to stop the ball you just can't help it, so I haven't lost any respect for him. I find the attitude of some people to be awful, "scum", "cheating frogs" etc. If anyone is to blame it is the linesman and his clear view of the incident. P.S. yay for Villa's late equaliser today!
November 21, 200915 yr ^ I don't blame Thierry Henry ... I blame Sepp Blatter (a French speaking Swiss national, who was so upset when Italy won the 2006 World Cup he sulked off instead of hanging around to do his duty during the prize-podium event) and Michel Platini (France's greatest ever footballer until Zinedine Zidane, and highest national goalscorer until a certain Thierry Henry surpassed his record) for allowing this blatantly corrupt thing to happen. After all if they can replay Uzbekistan v Bahrain for a similar event, then there is no excuse. But in the meantime enjoy the internet virals: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/19/article-0-0747080F000005DC-771_468x477.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/19/article-0-07473524000005DC-806_468x382.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/19/article-0-0747351D000005DC-488_468x253.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/19/article-0-07470748000005DC-783_468x423.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/19/article-0-074709EA000005DC-819_468x308.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/11/19/article-0-0747352A000005DC-415_468x358.jpg The bottom line is if Damian Duff did the same as Henry & he crossed the ball for Robbie Keane to score, then I think the French would be asking FIFA for a replay & they would get it as well because we all know that FIFA would rather see the French with all their stars play in the World Cup over Ireland anytime. If anyone thinks otherwise then they are quite frankly naive or deluded IMHO.
November 21, 200915 yr Back on the losing trail for Carlisle. :( Tough away trip next against Milton Keynes for us, then the Cup game against Norwich. Arsenal beaten by Sunderland? :o What an upset. Further down, Barnsley beating Cardiff is another upset from today's action.
