Liverpool were outplayed off the park for 60 minutes today, but that is such a big 3 points. We got a lot of luck which is what we needed. Can't wait till the likes of Benayoun, Riera, Aqualini and Gerrard are fully fit, and then hopefully Torres will be back for Blackburn next week. The table all of a sudden doesn't look so bad.

Especially with Arsenal losing at home to Chelski, with Van Persie out injured for five months.

Barcelona host Real Madrid after Chelsea beat Chelsea to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League on a busy Sunday of football action.

something doesnt quite seam right on the bbc website.... lol

Oxford or Barrow at home, not bad. I can imagine a few reserves/youths playing, but hopefully not too many as knowing us we'll manage to find a way to royally fuck up what is essentially one of the easiest draws of the round.

Hopefully a win will kick-start a decent run in this cup.

Non league teams are always the worst draws in football!! On paper they're easy ties, but they'll be dead up for it. If Oxford go through they'll bring a big crowd (which I reckon they will).

Which is why it's important that at the very least a handful of first teamers start. If players like Cana, Bent and Turner are on the pitch then it should be a comfortable victory.

We got the blend right for Birmingham and Norwich in the Carling Cup, and both were pretty comfortable in the end. We've just got to make sure that whoever is picked turns up and performs.

If you play Oxford and Onome Sodje plays for them, make sure you throw a beachball at him.

But non-league teams are the teams you want to avoid in the FA Cup. On paper they're easy games, but trust me the standard of football in the Conference is extremely good, the top teams in the League are probably on a par with the League 2 clubs imo and it's the players cup finals, so any half arsed performances from senior players thinking it will be a breeze, then they'll be in for a shock! So can't wait for the Stoke match. I know the York players will be fired up for it.

Why would we throw beachballs at people, wasn't it a Liverpool fan who threw the beachball onto the pitch when we beat you at the SoL?

I understand where you're coming from Roo but given the choice between Chelsea away and Oxford at home in the next round, i'd choose Oxford every time. The difference between the Premier League sides and the non-league sides is that you can go to Stamford Bridge, play out of your skin and still come away with a hiding whereas at home against someone like Oxford you can get away with not playing at your best.

The thing is, imo it is one of the easiest ties of the draw and it's up to us to take full advantage of it.

More football this week.

Carling Cup action as well as action from League One and League Two.

Carlisle are in action against Hartlepool. Hopefully, our good run can continue.

Anyone else got an interest in this week's games?

Carlisle's winning streak goes on. 3-2 against Hartlepool. I was sweating bullets as Hartlepool's second went in.

Well done to your team Ashford, they made it. :cheer:

It's ashame Burton didn't beat Man Utd in the Cup whilst they had a chance :( At least they got a replay out of them.

Indeed, 4-2 :D

0-0 stalemate here. But, a clean sheet. :w00t: They don't occur very often for Carlisle. :cheer:
Drogba was such a twat today. I'd been coming round to him ever since Hiddink took charge but today he made Ronaldo look like the perfect loser. It's a shame really, he's been fantastic for a long time now and deserved to finish higher in the Player of the Year award this week... He's scored my two favourite goals of the season too, against Bolton and Stoke...

I detest being a Sunderland supporter at times. I really do wonder why we put ourselves through it.

The past 2 away defeats have been unacceptable. No other way of putting it, they haven't even tried. Wigan are shocking, how they ever beat Villa or Chelsea even with them down to 10 men is an absolute mystery to me. They have one or two good players, but defensively they're poor and they were there for the taking. Not good enough.

Fulham yesterday was nothing short of a disgrace. Fulham are a decent team, Hodgson's a good manager but fucking hell lads at least try and look interested. Richardson, McCartney, Nosworthy, Ferdinand, Bardsley can all fuck off. Seriously, the next time a team comes calling for them ship the bastards off, i'll be more than happy to pay their taxi fares as it's a far more productive use of the money i'm wasting watching us away from home.

2 away games, 2 shots on target. Says it all. Sort it out Sunderland.

What a weird day of results. :|

If the Liverpool-Arsenal game tomorrow doesn't end in a draw then it's a MASSIVE win for the winning side...
