Well done to Vera Lynn. The album chart is so good, even stupid ageist Radio/TV can not influence it.

Outside our top 30 Combined Albums, we have other entries from Neil Diamond (Hot August Night), Q Anthems - VA, Chilled Euphoria, down for Chilled R + B Vol 2, Mew (No More Stories), Willie Nelson (American Classic), Chilled Euphoria - VA, down for Bad (MJ), 90 Club Hits From The 90s, and Brendan Benson (My Old Familiar Friend).

Last week we had 9 in the ten, 18 in the 20, and 28 in the 30 on the album front. While on the singles front we had 9 in the top 10, 19 in the 20, 27 in the 30, 37 in the 40, 45 in the 50, and 55 in the 60.

Back in August 1976, Radio Luxembourg came up with this on Tues 28th Aug as introduced by Bob Stewart:

01 02 LET `EM IN - WINGS...Later covered by Billy Paul

02 01 IN ZAIRE - JOHNNY WAKELIN...More Muhammad Ali related stuff

03 05 YOU SHOULD BE DANCING - BEE GEES...Getting their Annual hit at this point

04 14 YOU DON`T HAVE TO GO - CHI-LITES...More disco, and their last major hit

05 04 DR KISS KISS - 5000 VOLTS...Another Annual hit, with a different session singer to the first

06 13 YOU`LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER LOVE LIKE MINE - LOU RAWLS...Lou`s only UK hit

07 03 JEANS ON - DAVID DUNDAS...Lord Dundas actually. From a tv ad for Brutus Jeans

08 16 SIXTEEN BARS - STYLISTICS...The last top ten hit, for the boys

09 10 THE PRICE OF LOVE - BRYAN FERRY...From the e.p. Extended Play

10 09 WHAT I`VE GOT IN MIND - BILLIE JOE SPEARS

11 19 DANCING QUEEN - ABBA...The biggest seller by Sweden`s biggest export

12 08 NOW IS THE TIME - JIMMY JAMES AND THE VAGABONDS...It took them many years before they had a UK hit

13 15 KILLING OF GEORGIE...A long true story song from Rod, concerning Gay Georgie. Parts 1 & 2, featured on the A and B side of the single

14 20 NICE AND SLOW - JESSE GREEN...The first dance type it for Jesse. The 2nd came later "Flip".

15 29 I CAN`T ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN YOU - CLIFF RICHARD...For me, Cliff`s best of the 70s, and hardly ever heard

16 24 HERE I GO AGAIN - TWIGGY...The model`s only chart success. Who remember`s "The Zoo De Zoo Song?"

17 22 BABY WE`D BETTER TRY AND GET IT TOGETHER - BARRY WHITE...Barry, responsible for the baby boom of the 70s

18 18 MORNING GLORY - JAMES AND BOBBY PURIFY...Following up the re-recorded "I`m Your Puppet"

19 21 AFTERNOON DELIGHT - STARLAND VOCAL BAND...A snatch of this was nicked by Capital Radio, for the afternoon show "Afternoon Delight"

20 27 DANCE LITTLE LADY DANCE - TINA CHARLES...A 2nd solo hit for Tina. She had sung on 5000 Volts first hit "I`m On Fire"

21 NE ARIA - MR ACKER BILK/HIS CLARINET AND STRINGS...A return to the charts for Acker. His biggest hit in 13 years

22 23 JAILBREAK - THIN LIZZY...Couldn`t quite follow "The Boys Are Back In Town"

23 NE MAKE YOURS A HAPPY HOME - GLADYS KNIGHT AND THE PIPS...Missing the Radio One Top 30

24 NE HEAVEN IS THE BACK SEAT OF MY CADILLAC - HOT CHOCOLATE...The first to miss the top 20 since 1974

25 26 NIGHT FEVER - FATBACK BAND...Not the Bee Gees song. A bit of disco though, again

26 NE BLINDED BY THE LIGHT - MANFRED MANN`S EARTHBAND...Written by Bruce Springsteen

27 NE SATIN SHEETS - BELLAMY BROTHERS...A floppy follow up to "Let Your Love Flow"

28 30 IT`S SO NICE TO HAVE YOU HOME AGAIN - NEW SEEKERS...A big flop away from Radio Luxembourg

29 NE MISSISSIPPI - PUSSYCAT...The first of 2, British Top 30 hits for the Dutch outfit

30 NE SHANNON - HENRY GROSS...A big U.S. hit, but not so here in Britain

23 in the 30 for Radio Luxembourg...A bit of a mistake though, because they missed out last week`s #7. That was Elton John & Kiki Dee`s "Don`t Go Breaking My Heart". It was going down, but on the following week it miraculously re-appeared in the top 15!

Ahead of this week`s Singles preview, here are 3 more "Pops To Flop"

The first one from Team Waterpolo "Letting Go"...All over XFM, the band from Preston, Lancashire. Released today:

How about You Me At Six "Kiss And Tell"...Over to Weybridge, Surrey for the band that formed in 2004. Released on 7th Sept:

David Gray "Fugitive"...Back up to Manchester. Don`t think David can make it big this time. Released 7th Sept:

Thanks Dave

I really hope Gaga can go top 30 by Sunday.

[biffy Clyro are a band btw, not a 'he']

Really hope they can make the top 10 at least by Sunday!

Thanks as always, Dave.

Dave, 'Dance Little Lady Dance' was Tina Charles 3rd Solo Hit of 1976, not her 2nd.

After 'I Love To Love', she had a No.31 hit with 'Love Me Like A Lover'. I haven't a clue

if it Charted in the Radio Luxembourg Chart. (In a Magazine Interview, a few Years back,

Tina claimed that 'I Love To Love' sold 29 Million copies Globally! LOL! It wasn't even a

USA Hit, & I doubt if it even sold 4 Million copies).

Thanks for posting Dave, bit slim on new releases this week.
Yeah, slightly dull this week tbh. But next week should be more exciting :)
Why is In For The Kill still top 40? How come? It is not even top 40 anymore for days on iTunes.
Physicals and multiple versions I guess

Biffy are top 10 in mids, hopefully they will stay and not fulfill the prophecy here.

Jamie T for top 10 with Chaka Demus please. :o
