January 28, 201015 yr Doesn't deserve to be the biggest grossing film ever imo, but it was advertised soo much It was to be expected, don't get me wrong it looked great, but was the storyline all that great? not really...
January 28, 201015 yr :???:  You don't want me to explain that do you? :( You said something was AMAZING and then you said it was OKAY. In the same sentence. STREWTH.
January 29, 201015 yr I bought final destination 4 on dvd last month with the 3D version and I finally got rounf to wathcing it and was really excited cos I thought it would be good with 3D/glasses and all but I was really unimpressed, So... I was planning to see Avavtar next week, 3D in a Vue cinemea and just wanted to know what kind of glasses do you get/if at all, are they rubbish ones/ does the 3d actually work because it didn't with FD 4? etc, Ta
January 29, 201015 yr Omg I was suprised wen it outsold tinatic..Ive Watched it and it was Great..I slept out 20mins or so but differently is was really good.
January 30, 201015 yr I saw Avatar this afternoon. It was utterly brilliant - I felt like I was swept up into Pandora myself and the 3 hours flew by. Highly recommended! absolutely... i was totally engrossed in it and it really did hit the spot imagining other worlds ... dr who should take note ... loved the visuals... i was gutted when the bstrds destroyed that tree... loved the concept of the pandoras life forms were interlinked , and the plot was straight out of the REAL wild west, the 'baddies' exploiting indigenous peoples, moving them around, killing them. coulda been sherman, custar, lee, etc fighting indians. im not bothered whether the acting was good or adequate, whether the dialogue was great, or the fact that the plot was metaphorically the story of the attitude of america (be it red indians, vietnamese, iraquis, whatever)... the film succeded it stimulating the imagination and transporting me to a distant planet in the distant future. 8.5/10
January 31, 201015 yr Gorgeous, gorgeous escapism. I really felt immersed in Pandora, and frankly it's the sort of movie (oh, just like Titanic!) that easily overcomes a poor screenplay/derivative plot. It really didn't matter all that much seeing as it took a Brechtian approach to the overall message... Oh, and Trudy Chacon is my new idol. "You're not the only one with a gun, bitch!" <3
January 31, 201015 yr If anyone saw this and the Colonel wasn't their favourite character they DISGUST me.
January 31, 201015 yr saw this last month and loved it. i'm not into movies like avatar where it's all futuristic and couldn't actually happen because i just never believe it but i got well and truly sucked into this. i sure hope there's a second one.. oh and could some please explain to me why at the beginning when the main avatar guy turned blue and ran off didn't the human people have a go at him when he got back? is it cos they knew he'd always wated to use his legs again or because it's not really him when he's blue so he couldn't control his actions..? that bit really confused me.. February 1, 201015 yr The Avatar Equation... Aliens + Abyss + Dances With Wolves + Smurfs = Avatar..... Great visually, a fantastically realised world, but what an utterly DREADFUL, DREADFUL cliche-ridden script, and it's just Cameron regurgitating all his OLD ideas...... Sigourney Weaver had may as well have been playing Ripley tbh, or the main scientist character from Abyss... Sam Worthington was just a variation on Hicks, The character Michelle Rodriguez was playing could have been Vasquez from Aliens' descendant, the Colonel was basically just a more mad-eyed version of the character Michael Biehn played in Abyss, the Navy Seal guy who goes nuts and tries to kill the aquatic life-forms... Cameron used to be a film-maker of originality (Terminator 1 and 2, Aliens, The Abyss), this was just him being totally lazy in terms of the story, and frankly, saying it looked great isn't enough to make up for the very obvious cliches, stereotyping and unoriginality.... For a really good Sci Fi film, look to District 9 or Moon, miles better than this, and definitely more emotionally and intellectually satisfying.... Which is what good sci-fi is supposed to do, feed your mind.... Rob, how on earth can Dr Who match Avatar for goodness sake, I somehow doubt they have $300 million at their disposal.....  I mean, come on they couldn't even afford Anna Friel's wage...... This gets a 10/10 for the visuals and a 2/10 for the story/script.....

That is just one of the very MANY things that Cameron simply does not really explain properly within the film's script.... I really had to laugh my ass off at the name of the mineral - "Unobtainium" PMSL......
February 4, 201015 yr That is just one of the very MANY things that Cameron simply does not really explain properly within the film's script.... I really had to laugh my ass off at the name of the mineral - "Unobtainium" PMSL...... I spent most of the unobatnium scenes working out where the short boss guy was from. I eventually worked out he was Phoebe's brother in Freinds!
February 6, 201015 yr Rob, how on earth can Dr Who match Avatar for goodness sake, I somehow doubt they have $300 million at their disposal.....  I mean, come on they couldn't even afford Anna Friel's wage...... This gets a 10/10 for the visuals and a 2/10 for the story/script..... it can get off earth!!! it used to... use their imagination and visit foreign planets (a gravel pit in surrey as a rule  ). i dont care about the script because the visuals carried it for me, besides i havnt seen other films so its pretty new to me (the storyline) except its a direct update of the american indian wars. i wouldnt have been surprised if they had a battle (slaughter) on a place called 'sand creek' , or 'mountain meadows'.
February 8, 201015 yr I eventually worked out he was Phoebe's brother in Freinds! Giovanni Ribisi... A good actor, who deserves better than the absolutely sh!tty lines he got in this film....
February 8, 201015 yr i dont care about the script because the visuals carried it for me, Mate, no offence, but you kind of represent what's wrong with most cinema goers today as I see it.... The visuals are everything, but PLOT??? SCRIPT???? ORIGINALITY???? I would suggest you spend an evening with James Cameron's earlier films - Terminator 1 and 2, The Abyss, Aliens (and maybe the excellent "Strange Days" which he scripted and the excellent Kathryn Bigelow - whom I believe deserves the Oscar and BAFTA far more than Cameron - directed..) and see for yourself just where he's gone hideously wrong with this film.... Sorry, but the Na'vi (hmm, yeah, which sounds like 'Navajo' dunnit..?) just look like skinny, tall Smurfs to me..... The American Indian wars is a reference point, but all that means is that he ripped off a bit of Dances With Wolves as well......
