Been enjoying this record for a while now. Really influenced by R&B but bits of dub and acoustic flourishes also. Very spaced out record, nice and Autumnal and blissed out <3

Here is most recent single "Basic Space":

Been lovinggggg The xx for a while now since they came out with their Crystalised 7". Lovelovelove. Islands is amaze.

I tried to like them, but I really don't.

I think their music can be a little too chilled for me at times, tis weird.

God this album is pure stunning. So frank and honest, but that's its charm. Wonderful.
Agreed and disagreed. There definitely aren't any bad tracks, but I would definitely call Crystalised and Night Time standouts.
I really likee them. Their sound reminds me a lot of Glass Candy and their lyrics are typical of what you'd associate with the likes of Lady GaGa, just in a much more abstract way. Prefer their more soft-pop sound as aposed to the more R&B influenced tracks. Adore "Islands". Their remix of Florence's "You've Got the Love" is brill. All so fresh, hip and gr8.
I have only heard Islands which I am slowly starting to love. They seem to be one of those bands which don't batter you in the mush but slowly draws you in.
Their album is good yes, but Islands and Crystalised are by far the best tracks there, though the rest will grow i'm sure. They're pretty massive now it seems, i've actually been hearing of them outside the internet.

Watched them on Wednesday night in Shoreditch.

Fantastic gig.

And definitely one of the albums of the year

Unforunately, The xx are a band people think they should like, think they should namedrop, think it's 'cool' to like - but in the harsh light of day - they're really not very good at all and I'm sorry - I seriously roll my eyes at people who say they'love' them.... (usually the hilarious 'too cool for school' brigade).

'Crystalised' sounds like it could be a great song - but surely the version we hear is a demo version? There's always something missing from The xx's music.

Oliver, lead singer, is dashingly beautiful - and one singer with a lisp is almost-bearable.

TWO singers with lisps? Oh please.... tedious.

I don't think I should like them; I do. And I have far before they were 'cool' to name drop. And I'm definitely not trying to be 'too cool for school'. Their music is beautiful, and it's unfortunate you're missing that. It's very stark and simplistic, but that's the purpose of it.

Ah well, can't please everyone.
