What are we saying here...The Beatles will have 14 albums in the Combined Top 50? Killers, Blackout Crew just outside.

Last week we got 7 in the 10, 17 in the 20, and 23 in the 30 on the Album front. On the Singles front we got 9 in the 10, 18 in the 20, 28 in the 30, 36 in the 40, 47 in the 50, and 57 in the top 60. Best for Singles then! Especially the Prodigy!

Back in Sept 1978, Radio Luxembourg came up with the following:

01 01 DREADLOCK HOLIDAY - 10CC...The 3rd #1 for the band, that were now just a duo, and the song based on a true story

02 03 AN EVERLASTING LOVE - ANDY GIBB...The late Andy Gibb, the younger brother of Barry.

03 NE SUMMER NIGHT CITY - ABBA...A Luxy chartopper for the foursome

04 06 KISS YOU ALL OVER - EXILE...Over to Australia, and the band who formed in the 60s, as "The Exiles"

05 21 BRITISH HUSTLE - HI TENSION...David Joseph and co, taking to the dancefloor

06 02 OH WHAT A CIRCUS - DAVID ESSEX...On stage for Evita, and the Eva Peron song

07 07 FORGET ABOUT YOU - MOTORS...The 3rd hit, formed by 2 former members of Ducks Deluxe. This song sounding much like the "Grandstand" Theme

08 10 PICTURE THIS - BLONDIE...Debbie Harry grabbing hit 3

09 NE GREASE - FRANKI VALLI...Former Four Season, and the theme to the film

10 17 AGAIN AND AGAIN - STATUS QUO...More 12 gold bars, from the boys

11 05 THREE TIMES A LADY - COMMODORES...The name of the Commodores pulled out of the dictionary, by a pin!

12 04 JILTED JOHN - JILTED JOHN...Graham Fellows, and that moron "Gordon"

13 08 I THOUGHT IT WAS YOU - HERBIE HANCOCK...Electro/R n B/Jazz from the Chicago based star, that brought us the fab "Watermelon Man"

14 09 GALAXY OF LOVE - CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR...The first hit, for Brooklyn based R n B/Disco/Funk band. "You Gave Me Love", said to be the best disco hit ever

15 23 SHE`S GONNA WIN - BILBO...Formerly "Bilbo Baggins", a name nicked from "The Hobbit". With a Bay City Rollers connection too

16 22 TALKING IN YOUR SLEEP - CRYSTAL GAYLE...The girl with the longest hair, from Kentucky. Real name "Brenda Gail Webb"

17 14 BROWN GIRL IN THE RING - BONEY M...The single that got turned over, after airplay caught on

18 11 TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE - TOM ROBINSON BAND...A slight flop officially for the man who was "Glad To Be Gay".

19 18 SIGN OF THE TIMES - BRYAN FERRY...Another solo performance for the man in the suit from Roxy Music

20 NE EVE OF THE WAR - JEFF WAYNE...War Of The Worlds everywhere in 1978. This was a shortened single edit, from the album

21 28 HOT SHOT - KAREN YOUNG...The American singer, rather than the English 60s one, or Canadian 3rd one! This one, was a disco singer

22 NE I CAN`T STOP LOVIN`YOU - LEO SAYER...Little Leo, having his last top 5 hit, for 2 years

23 13 SUPERNATURE - CERRONE...Jean-Marc Cerrone Disco star. A little helped by "Kenny Everett`s Video Show" on ITV. It was all over it

24 16 IT`S RAINING - DARTS...Doo-Wop revival was the name of the game, by Den Hagerty and 8 others, who all featured in Rocky Sharpe And The Replays

25 25 YOU MAKE ME FEEL - SYLVESTER...The original "Queen Of The Disco" (hence a re-made by Jimmy Somerville) Sylvester James who was just 41 when he died

26 26 DON`T WANNA SAY GOODNIGHT - KANDIDATE...Phil Fearon`s original band who shares his birthday with Arnold Schwarzeneggar

27 27 COLD AS ICE - FOREIGNER...Mick Jones teaming up with ex-King Crimson`s Ian McDonald and America`s Louis Grammatico

28 NE AIN`T IT FUNNY - COLIN BLUNSTONE...A flop officially, but a good single by the ex-Zombie

29 NE GOT A FEELING - PATRICK JUVET...Back to the disco, "I Got A Feeling That I`ll Be Leaving". The French star with a slight connection to the Village People

30 29 WHERE DID OUT LOVE GO/JE VOULAIS TE DIRE - MANHATTEN TRANSFER...The 2nd manifestation of the group, with Tim Hauser, Alan Paul, Janis Siegel, and Laurel Masse.

Back to the 2009, and "3 Pops To Flop".

Starting with The Brian Jonestown Massacre "Loveep"...San Fransicco based Anton Newcombe and co, who formed in 1990: (released 21st Sept) But no Vid!

The return of Skunk Anansie...Actually, released "Tear The Place Up" in July. That flopped as will "Because Of You" (released 14th Sept):

Lethal Bizzle "Going Out Tonight"...Over to Walthamstow for Grimey Indie stuff, and featured at Reading and Leeds 09, but I don`t reckon it will do much:

Thanks Dave!

I can't imagine Jay-Z being Number 1 till the end of the week though, tbh I think Mika will just beat Pixie too it. Devastated at Bananarama flopping :snif: But glad to see Mini Viva in the top 10 :)

Muse needs to be higher, I'm sure after tonight, they be in contention for a #1, or else I shall be eating humble pie come Sunday.

I can't see Arctic Monkeys getting a 3rd week at #1, it be 1, A Beatles album or 2 Florence + The Machine, unless Kasabian or Friendly Fires do the impossible. Whatever happens it be an interesting week in the albums, as its chock a block.

Well, U2 are topping the physical chart today. With Muse in 2nd place!

U2 will *not* be that high, and I can say that with certainty unlike with The Prodigy last week.

Muse will be a lot higher after tonight.

And what the hell is with everyone covering Use Somebody? That's four covers I know now - Pixie Lott, Ultrabeat, Paramore (Live Lounge) and Bat For Lashes. Who's next? 50 Cent? Crazy Frog? Cliff Richard?

Edited by Brayden

I think Martin better get the double cream ready, he will be eating some humble pie by the end of the week.

Muse in #1 contention? Why exactly? THey've hardly been shooting up iTunes..

Don't be so sure about U2 btw, they have some obsessive fans and unlike Magnificent, this single is out on 3 physical formats (inc. 2 CD singles)..

I just think an Indie track has to make #1 sometime this year, now is the best time before the X Factor stuff filters thru, SOF is nearly a year old, I just think Muse could actually do it, if not I eat that humble pie.

Oh yes, because of course nobody listens to Radio 1 between 7 and 12pm except Muse fans.

1 word: Wrong. :P

Quite right! The only one we`re going wrong with is Bananarama...But I think very much, that it will be gone out of the 40 by Sunday. At the moment 39 out of 40 (although the wrong #1)!!!

(although the wrong #1)!!!

Not totally for sure that you'll have this wrong by Sunday - Pixie's falling on iTunes. ;o

And I take back saying U2 will drop out of the top 40 on the grounds of looking like an idiot, but I stand by saying that you have them too high. They'll be lucky to hold top 25 imo.
