Posted September 3, 200915 yr Breaking news of Sky Sports News now, FIFA have banned them from singing players in the next two transfer windows for breaking transfer rules for when they signed Gael Kakuta from Lens, they apparently got him to break his contract in order to come to Chelsea. :o So how do we think this will affect things in the next year and a half?
September 3, 200915 yr Another good example set by FIFA / UEFA / whomever. With Eduardo's ban earlier this week and now this, it's looking like they're finally telling the big money clubs who runs football. I'd welcome a return to the pre-Sky era to be honest. Money breeds ego, breeds cheating, breeds corruption. I wonder how many of the stars who have just signed massive contracts will remain loyal too, knowing the club can't strengthen itself for two seasons and with Man City waving big money under their noses for the next few transfer windows.
September 3, 200915 yr Fantastic news. I mean this in regard to setting an example to other teams, not as in i'm glad Chelsea have got a transfer ban on them, as I feel for their fans tbh, as it if was Liverpool i'd be utterly pissed off! But it definitely sets an example. ALL the top clubs (Real Madrid, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Inter, AC, Spurs, Bayern etc.) tap up players whether they be already established players, or young players, and it's not fair on the smaller clubs as they lose out at the end of the day to the bigger clubs greed. Only bad thing about this, is UEFA/FIFA have opened a can of worms with warning other teams - so if they don't do it to other teams then there'll be hell to pay from other clubs!
September 3, 200915 yr On the one hand I'm pleased. No doubt on appeal this will be changed to one transfer window so that Chelsea can buy in the Summer. As for UEFA/FIFA, I think it is more of an agenda to knock the English clubs off their perch. For example Real Madrid have been tapping up Cristiano Ronaldo for the past three seasons. Whilst Eduardo rightly gets a two match ban for his appalling dive to get a penalty, yet UEFA ignore another equally high profile incident: ouznTEkmuiQ Barcelona's Messi headbutts Srna (Shaktar Donetsk) European Super Cup
September 3, 200915 yr Who doesn't tap up though? Real Madrid did it to Alonso, Man Utd have done it countless times, Liverpool, Barcelona, Spurs etc. - EVERYONE does it. it's just that some are more blatant than others. Gerrard dived last year and he got no punishment - i'm sure it's just this season they're taking things into account, well at least I hope so.
September 3, 200915 yr All clubs tap up, I think Chelsea only been penalised because they are a CL club and Platini is an anglophobe If this was Stoke or Blackburn or Sunderland or Bolton or whatever FIFA wouldn't give a damn This is just to help stop a English club winning the CL this year same as the dodgy Barca game last season Edited September 3, 200915 yr by B.A Baracus
September 3, 200915 yr I've got to say this is pleasing and disappointing at the same time. It's pleasing that UEFA/FIFA are doing something but you just know they're going to be more inconsistant then refs are. Even with the Eduardo thing, great he's been punished after the game but he's been given a 2 match ban (equivelent to 6 yellow cards in the Champions League). McGeady and Eboue dive, the refs spot it and get just a yellow card. So basically the incompetance of a referee has seen Eduardo have a penalty 6 times stronger than he'd have got if the ref had seen it. How is that in any way fair?

Because the other players were judged by the referee to have been cheating, they didn't win anything. That's why I think it is fair for him to receive a greater punishment.

He got his job after pledging to end the dominance of the Champions League by a single country. It's irrelevant whether that country happens to be England. Spain or Italy.

Of course being French he had no problem with his country's clubs raiding Africa for young talented teenagers did he. And where are the charges for Spanish or Italian clubs doing the same thing?

That's happening because the small clubs think they can punish the bigger clubs. Whilst I don't doubt for one second that tapping up doesn't happen, both Liverpool and Man Utd have been the victims of tapping up this summer. Not that that excuses anything, but it just puts it all into perspective. I doubt anything will happen really, it's men against boys really. Look at Chelsea with their player, they called him back straight away from where he was visiting to get his story straight over the whole saga.
September 9, 200915 yr Been checking out the interwebs here in Hungary lately, and all I've been hearing in the football world ever since the Gael Chelsea affair, is all these other clubs coming out with "Poaching" this and "poaching players" that. They wouldn't have said anything if Chelsea were not banned, and it's all we're hearing now with other clubs doing the accusing towards others. I thought that's the sort of thing you do to eggs!. It's getting annoying now, just stop it. At least here in Hungary I can simply just keep away from the internet cafes. Yeah FIFA have opened a can of worms. It gives other clubs a little bit of power now. Just take the Crewe situation with Liverpool - I honestly don't see what they're moaning about. It's not like we've actually got the player. We made a bid for him 18 months ago and he rejected it. Is really not Liverpool's fault if they player decides he wants to move on to a bigger club is it? It happens with players, especially young and inexperienced ones. Now unless Crewe have some hard factual evidence that Liverpool touted him to say that then it's very bad play from Crewe. Liverpool have been very generous to them down the years, playing pre-season friendlies, loaning players etc.
