I'm still waiting for them to release something as incredible. Into The Clouds didn't really cut it, even if I did adore it, it was nowhere near as good as M.A.G.I.C. for me, and all of their other material I've heard is average :( I do love their mix of Alejandro but it's hardly BJSC entry fodder (mainly because Ben already sent the original )

Was just listening to it - still remains my favourite discovery of BJSC ever. I agree, none of their stuff compares to M.A.G.I.C, I thought to begin with that 'Into The Clouds' was just as good, but it quickly got boring.

LOL. The Naked And Famous isn't that good at all. Surprised at all the love.

Oh i am sorry i for a moment thought your chart wasn't filled with uber obscure indie stuff :kink:

What? I hate this idea that I don't like anything indie. Considering that song by The Naked And Famous isn't obscure anyway...

I was just saying that it's no surprise you don't like it... in my own way :kink:

It really is magical[/sad], one of my personal favourite entries and it's just a shame it came up against Release Me in that final :( Agreed there, the production on Into The Clouds is flawless again but the melody/hook isn't quite as memorable in my opinion.

Young Blood is not obscure, it was a #1 in New Zealand, hardly an underground discovery, just something I really like from a genre that I generally don't care for.

Into The Clouds didn't really cut it, even if I did adore it.

Didn't really cut it gets your 12 these days? :kink: Damn, XX must've been poor quality.

Obviously as the Buzzjack incarnation of Popjustice I believed it to be the greatest song of the year (that wasn't Bad Romance of course).

In terms of me wanting to send it over Anna I meant, seeing as I had it reserved for ages. Sending what I personally (I don't care what PJ think ) found to be a weaker song than M.A.G.I.C. over one of my favourite pure pop songs of the year wasn't really an option for me in the end. It was still better than everything else in the contest though. I barely remember that much about XX other than those two songs and The Spell winning if I'm completely honest

I remember The Spell winning :cheer:  I don't see it happening again for a while, unless I get a certain new female electropopster :kink: Into The Clouds was good, I loved it at the time, but I didn't actually hear M.A.G.I.C. until TBO, and I fell totally in love  Then again Agnes had one of the best songs of last year, you can't begrudge Peter too much (I think it was Herzebania?) Anna was fab too of course...

Oh of course, I gave Agnes my 12 points, and that and M.A.G.I.C. were at #1 and #2 in my chart at the time, Release Me having been my 2008 xmas #1 :o

A fully deserved win, it was the only song I liked more in that competition than my own entry, and that's a huge accomplishment when M.A.G.I.C. is easily inside my top 100 songs of all time  Agnes though, it 6th in the same list with Release Me :P

Interesting, after hearing them for the first time on the Unkown Pleasures contest in the Indie forum, I've already become a bit of a loon for The Naked and Famous, and was going to enter either All of This or The Sun by them.

I did have a feeling though having already been entered for a BJ song contest, and after the succes in NZ, they might be a lot of interest in them. So it's no surprise when I say Young Money gets my vote, my favourite song of the year so far. That video just seems to be bursting with energy and life

I'm pretty sure they would have been my top 2 too, if I'd been there at the time (joined one contest late :arrr:)

Yeah, I understand that completely, I wonder what the Sound Of Arrows album will have in store? I checked their Myspace the other day, and apparently they've finished recording it, but no release date yet...

Glad you like Daniel, how strange that it's been entered to Unknown Pleasures too :o Still, I guess there isn't too much crossover between people taking part in that and people taking part in BJSC so hopefully it will still be a discovery for most :D

It could well be very special indeed. I really want to hear it!

True. I've been listening to their back catalogue, and it's all incredible, I hopefully will have downloaded their two CDs by the end of the night :D if you entered Young Blood I think it will be another win for you, it seems to be universally loved, the positive reaction and the No.1 hit in NZ is quite surprising considering it's a through and through alternative song.

Maybe I should listen to some of their other songs, I've only known of them for about a week

Really? I thought mid-table-ish because I had no idea what sort of respsonse it would get but it seems really positive. I really think it's a very appealing and commercial song despite being alternative, much in the same way that Kids by MGMT was. I usually don't care much for the genre but Young Blood jumped straight out at me on first listen so I'll pretty much definitely be sending it unless something else amazing comes along in the meantime :o

I think it's done so well because the lyrics, video and production have combined to make a really strong single, the "yeah, yeah, yeah" is a great catch, and I agree with the comparison to Kids. I think it will appeal to lots of different people, regardless of their prefered genre, I think at the very least it will go Top 10, but then again I've only been a part of the BJSC for 2 contests, so my opinion might not be that valuable.

And oh dear, me sounding like a loon, and I only found out they exsisted today through Unknown Pleasures! when something has a big enough impact on me though, I go crazy in learning more about the artist/listening to their other songs. I've already played them 33 times today not including youtube, and they are already my second most played artist of the week on Last fm :D I think you should listen to All Of This, which is their most known song after Young Blood, the video for that is visually stunning, and I'm already liking it as much as YB  All the videos I've seen so far have been breathtaking, and the lead female singer Alisa Xayalith is so cute. The Sun is lyrical genius (although that can apply to all their songs) "Here it comes, the unavoidable sun, of what's just happened and what's been done." And it builds to a pounding cresendo. There are other good tracks on their CDs, like Serenade (which is quite different and upbeat) but All of This and The Sun are early stand outs for me (they are the videos I posted before).

Definitely. I'm quite excited for it :w00t: Thought tbh the Hurts album excites me more...

I'm looking forward to both, although I'm personally hoping for stuff leaning more towards Wonderful Life than Better Than Love.

It has been confirmed that New Zealand alternative pop band The Naked & Famous will be representing FSR Rontvia in BJSC XXVIII in Kopecka with the song Young Blood. It's the first time the country have been used since way back in BJSC II when British/New Zealand act Natasha Bedingfield did with the song Stumble. The song is posted on a previous page should you wish to listen before the contest.
Good choice, its also used in Unknown Pleasures, it be a first if the track wins both contests :kink: :magic: :heehee:
