Well I don't take part in UP and heard the song before that contest started so it's not like I'm nicking it :heehee: And by confirming early I can't possibly know how it will perform in UP so can't be accused of glory seeking if it goes on to do well there. Different crowds anyway, the crossover between participants taking part in both contests is probably only 6 or 7 people so it should still be new to most. I expect more people knew It's Gonna Rain before it won last month, all of the Scandiloons will have done anyway so that's at least 10 of us :heehee:

As an interesting side note, after Robots In Love had won BJSC, I sent it to the final Unknown Pleasures competition on CHC before it imploded and it won that too :funky:

 

That's the only song that's ever won both contests iirc.

In terms of me wanting to send it over Anna I meant, seeing as I had it reserved for ages. Sending what I personally (I don't care what PJ think :lol:) found to be a weaker song than M.A.G.I.C. over one of my favourite pure pop songs of the year wasn't really an option for me in the end. It was still better than everything else in the contest though. I barely remember that much about XX other than those two songs and The Spell winning if I'm completely honest :lol:

I've worked out that I'll be lucky to have 4 hours free a week. It's a course + a work placement + I need a part time job to pay for it. So I won't even have one day off a week, I even had that whilst doing my media degree!

RTVN announcement from Ricardo Delta

 

Young Blood by The Naked & Famous has been withdrawn as Rontvia's final entry (assuming that the contest is switching formats or taking a long break) due to the song winning Unknown Pleasures by a landslide and therefore being deemed 'uninspired' by the Rontvian song selection board. The band are very pleased to have won that competition and feel that the only way from there, sadly, is down.

 

In light of this, Rontvia are finally sending a song that we have been considering for a good few months. After 28 contests, the country are finally sending a foreign language entry, joining close friends Ashton in sending a Swedish language track this month. Värsta Schlagern is a former #1 single in Sweden which combines classic schlager melodies, and a power pop Scandi chorus - elements that have helped FSR Rontvia to 12 top 5's and 4 wins in the history of BJSC, most recently Sheelah's Psycho, which won two months ago. The video parody's the Melodifestivalen competition, notably acts BWO and Carola, but the song itself is worthy of being heard by anyone who loves melodic Scandi-pop. The RTVN would like to thank every single person and country who ever gave us a single point in BJSC. Should the contest continue in its current form, the RTVN will make a decision on the future of FSR Rontvia's participation when decisions are made by the mods.

I must concur, this is an amazing song, and Ashton does deserve the win more, but it's not NECCESSARILY my favourite :kink: As for me I will be lucky with mid-table respectability...
