Sheelah take on Anna Abreu in 'The legends of Rontvia return' final

Head of the RTVN, Ricardo Delta has announced that the rumours of a National Final featuring only past participants was true, although the show is called 'The legends of Rontvia return'. In the first semi-final last night, Andreas Johnson and Zowie were eliminated after polling only 1% and 2% of the votes each respectively. Maria Haukaas Mittet was controversially sent home by the jury panel consisting of Fabio Lendrum, Sara Bareilles, Example and Pixie Lott who said 'we're not fans of her new name'. This left just Anna Abreu, who controversially finished 2nd with BJSC classic Music Everywhere in XX, and Sheelah, who stormed to victory with a record breaking score in XXVI with Psycho, in the running with Hysteria and The Last Time respectively. The final will be held in secret in Rontvia next Tuesday whilst the result, which will be based on 50/50 televotes and jury votes, will be kept under wraps until everybody's confirmation details are revealed.

Mr Delta said: 'Whilst we haven't been widely known to recycle former artists, only once with Mira Craig in BJSCX, we thought that the time was right to give another chance to one of the acts that the country respects and adores rather than looking to unknowns with songs that the country isn't overly passionate about, as we have done a couple of times in the last few contests. We may still be performing well results wise, but the country's passion for the contest has suffered with two recent entries only peaking at a lowly #6 in the charts, a far cry from the days when it was considered shocking if our BJSC entry didn't go on to become a huge #1, and we want to make sure that we're sending a smash that the country can get behind and support.'

In the latest Rontvian chart, published yesterday evening, Sheelah had climbed a place to #1 with The Last Time, becoming their second successive chart topper, whilst Anna had risen seven places to #7 with Hysteria, her fifth top ten hit in 18 months. With the public therefore expected to support Sheelah, it may be down to the jury to save Anna, but looking at Rontvian iTunes now, Anna's swiftly climbing after a promo performance last night on 'A Night Like This', the country's most popular evening current affairs show.

SHEELAH have been picked as FSR Rontvia's 31st representative in the BuzzJack Song Contest. They last represented the nation in BJSCXXVI, also held in Hendinia, sweeping to a huge win with the Scandi-pop/rock anthem Psycho. Returning to the fold for the country with the more electro-pop flavour of The Last Time, the duo are hoping for another respectable finish. They comprehensively beat Anna Abreu's Hysteria in the final of 'The legends of Rontvia return'. Zowie, who was eliminated in an earlier round with Bite Back has decided to represent Xanaga instead, and the RTVN wish her luck and are intrigued to see if she can exceed the second place that she achieved with Broken Machine. Le Kid, like Sheelah, are also returning to a nation that has already sent them beforehand - and are representing Torchwood for a THIRD time!

The Last Time is spending a 2nd week at the top of the Rontvian charts this week, fulfilling the country's premise to send a song popular with the public, which some of the last few entries haven't been. Anna Abreu would have made a worthy entrant too though, as she climbs up to No.3 this week with Hysteria.

SHOCKER.

SHOCKER.

Yes indeed! I actually seem to like this song more than Psycho so it would have been somehow wrong not to send it.

And to celebrate their re-appointment, they gave a special performance of the Numayanian BJSC classic Stay The Night by Alcazar at the stage in the grounds of the newly opened Emerald Mall in Constarvan;

AMAZING.

Though i thought there was only 2 of them lol.

I'm glad to see Sheelah back, and i will keep my side of that deal :funky:

I think this is dissimilar enough from Psycho to avoid what happened to the second RBW entry. I think i may love this more than Psycho though.

I'm not sure who the third girl is  They used to be part of a trio called Caracola who had quite a few top ten hits in Sweden and got to the second chance round of MF in 2008 with Smiling In Love, which is very infectious!

I agree, I wouldn't have sent it if it was just a Psycho rehash - it's got their 'sound' but I wouldn't say it's that similar at all, it's much more electro-pop influenced than the more pop-rock influenced Psycho. I always said I'd only recycle an artist if I like the song more than their previous entries and I actually do prefer this to Psycho I think, or it's at least on par. It's difficult to compare them, but it's ALL about the 'one last TIIIIIIIIIIIIME' middle eight about two thirds of the way into the song  They have far better voices than some random unknown Swedish duo should be allowed to have!

So that video is probably from their Caracola days then?

It's a good cover regardless, as is the one of I'm So Excited.

I'm in love with the backing track, it's all kinds of amazing, and i agree entirely. That middle 8 is clearly what kicks the track from a 10 to a 12. I love how after it everything calms for a second or two before they start the chorus almost a capella before the beat comes back with vengeance

It can't be, as Stay The Night came out after they'd split up and that performance was apparently from April last year, when they had reformed as Sheelah!

Yep, agreed there, they're strong vocalists!

Glad you love, that pulsating electro intro was enough to win me over straight away but the middle 8 sealed the deal fully - it's a great production, it sounds more professional than Psycho, which leads me to believe that perhaps they're on the verge of getting signed to a major label or at least getting a single released in Sweden! Psycho wasn't a single, more a randomly surfaced track - but this one has a cover sleeve so it must be a single :o

Ah, so Sheelah must have been a trio before it was a duo :o

It's Rontvian and not by Andreas Johnson, of course i love  I agree it's a lot more polished than Psycho is, and they have to get signed so they can achieve world domination. The UK needs to get aboard the Scandi train asap, we miss so many incredible artists while we are too busy with our heads up the arse of the US Chart.

I hope they do get signed, an album by them would be truly stunning. Can you just imagine the ElectroBallad????

They were, as Caracola, I really think this girl performing with them must have been a backing vocalist who wanted to join the group

Well that would be nice, I'd love to hear it on UK radio but it's never going to happen - like you said, if it's not from the US, international music doesn't get played on Radio 1 :/ They even snub Enrique (Spanish) who's still quite capable of having huge smashes here.

I'm so hyped for any potential album they might do in the future :w00t:

It's a shame that we miss so much good european music because the main providers of radio and TV take an elitist view to Scandipop. In reality most of the finest tracks from the past few years have been scandinavian in origin.

Certainly a lot of them have, I mean I can understand Radio 1 avoiding the cheesy Scandipop like Alcazar, but come on - why not playlist Tove Styrke? She's got a cool aura to her, I don't think she'd sound too out of place on the playlist.

White Light Moment would be a perfect track for them to playlist! I can understand the lack of Schlager, but the lack of the more classy stuff is unacceptable.

I have to agree, it's not like it wouldn't appeal to their target audience. It's a vicious circle though - they don't usually play it, so a lot of Scandi artists don't have a UK licence/record deal, therefore they never will be able to play it even if they wanted to :(

2nd win for Sheelah, 5th for FSR Rontvia!

Swedish duo Sheelah have stormed to victory once again in Hendinia, giving FSR Rontvia their 5th win. Of successfully defending their crown, Emma and Emilie said 'This is incredible, we're so grateful that our songs are so liked by the countries across the Buzzjack world'. The song has already spent three weeks at #1 in FSR Rontvia, two more than Psycho managed. Head of RTVN Ricardo Delta said, 'as I said before, we would only ever re use an artist if we felt that they were improving on their previous entry, and in this case we felt that this was true. To have finished only a few points behind the Psycho record when there were 15 or so less countries voting, is mind blowing'.

No act has ever won BJSC twice, and to do it both times for the same country is unprecedented. FSR Rontvia are now one win behind Mdice in the all time winners list, and comfortably back ahead of Kopecka to become the top BJSC country of all time. Celebrations are being held across the nation and it's already been announced that BJSCXXXII will be held at a to be confirmed date, hosted by Rontvia darling Sanna Nielsen, who finished 4th in BJSCIX with Nobody Without You.

Congrats Rich, a well deserved winner.

Oh, and not before the 19th if possible.

Thanks

I'm in no rush, I'm still waiting for my internet to conk out on me again :drama:

A week's break between contests would be nice.

I need that time to psych myself up for hosting yet again, I always forget how to use Excel in between :drama: To have won in BJSC 4, 14, 17, 26 and 31 are nicely spread I think. One more win in the next 18 contests and I'll make those six my lucky lottery numbers :kink:
