SNÁ and ASC aim to make 2012 the year of Ashton

Preparations are under way in the Ashtonise Capital to follow up the two runner up positions with a song strong enough to keep up the strong momentum that Tone Damli kicked off the year with. The ASC are rumoured to be hoping to break some Buzzjack records after the news came through yesterday that it had equalled the record for most consecutive top2 finishes with 2012's back to back 2nd place triumphs.

Since the result of XLII SNÁ has been running an ident with clips from the Look Back video and the Like A Girl In Love video showing '2nd place' in translucent text over both of them finishing with the SNÁ logo (varying according to which of the networks channel this ident is on) and "2012 - The Year Of Ashton" beneath the logo on a background of the Ashtonise flag. This is the first time in the short history of the SNÁ network that all it's channels have run the same ident. SNÁ was formerly the Ashtonise language channel of AMC before the government spun off the brand into a separate network in 2008.

Earlier this morning the ASC and SNÁ confirmed to the assembled press at an Ashton House press conference that the following two songs were shortlisted for entry to BJSC XLIII by the country.

Nause - Mellow

Emma Lewin - No Excuses

The ASC and SNÁ are hoping a return to Scandinavia, and in particular Sweden, will bring the country a strong result once more whilst introducing people to the exceedingly fantastic tracks above.

Hit the comments and let us know what you think of Ashton's potential entries!

Position wise I guess so! Points wise it'd have come 4th last month, as would Colours :o Flares, Look Back and Youth really stormed ahead of the pack didn't they!

Yeah they did! Given that Foxes and Look Back are among ten of the most voted for songs! I suppose they benefited from having fewer front runners whereas this time round the field was far more split with few people actually predicting Botanikka to go all the way never mind Ashton finishing just 2 points behind.

I quite like Nause's Mellow and can see it easily going Top 15 and highly Top 10. No Excuses remind me of Look Back from some point and I don't know why.

Literally both entries will finish Top 10 imo.

Thanks for the feedback! No Excuses and Look Back is a similarity I completely get although I hear far more of The Last Time in No Excuses than anywhere else.

This IS Ashton's year of domination. I wonder if we'll have a year where neither Kopecka, Ashton or FSR Rontvia grabs all the spotlight :P

Being entirely honest here, I think that the three of us will always gain a lot of attention regardless of if we dominate the results or not. I can't see a time where we are competing that we won't be doing reasonably well.

Ashton has never really had a 'bad' year. We've had a couple of years where we have done less well but we started off consistently and right now we are back in that stage where we are having consistently strong results.

Continuing the honesty theme, a year of Ashtonise domination is 1-long overdue and 2-would be rather nice from my point of view.

As I said in the PM, I *like* both, but they both dropped out of my chart and affections a while ago. That said, I narrowly prefer Emma, naturally being half of Sheelah.

And yeah, both would probably do well.

I saw Emma's song on a certain blog :kink: but now I would prefer Mellow

I'm not sure whether to be offended by that or not!

Don't be! I'm referring, like Alex above, to the high popularity of scandipop.co.uk

SNÁ and ASC furious over artist theft

Once again the Federal Republic has been forced into a default choice after one of the countries two potential entries was entered by another nation. This is not the only case of artist theft this month as a entry into last months MGPÁII Superfinal has also found it's way onto the entry list. The perpetrators are currently unknown but the Federal Guard are on stand-by.

The SNÁ has already been reported to have decreased the phone lines to be allocated to these countries down to a solitary shared line as the citizen's of Ashton have a history of refusing to vote for tracks that have been in the running to be Ashton's entry in the prior/current/next contest. This includes the infamous snub of 'Never Leave You' by Ashton and Mutya Buena's moment 'Strung Out' only achieving 8 points. Strung Out was number one for 11 weeks in Ashton and set a record as the first track to knock up 10 consecutive weeks selling more than 5m at #1. This feat is now regularly passed by tracks in the lower end of the top 100.

Our source at the ASC told us that some members of the office are looking into using the Offensive Music Act to block part of the BJSC Feed for the two songs in a similar manner that has been used to block banned artists, such as Darin, in the past.

GRd'Á speaks out over Offensive Music Act rumours

After a post on BJSCToday.an earlier today that caused some shock through the Ashtonise music community that the ASC would consider manipulating the Offensive Music Act to block two 'stolen' entries the Federal Government (Governa Republique d'Áskorza) has spoken out to calm the uproar that had some critics of the ASC asking if this act had been previously abused.

Governa Republique d'Áskorza had this to say:

"We can confirm that the rumours of the ASC to use the Offensive Music Act to block the broadcast of two songs in the forthcoming BJSC are just that, rumours. The Offensive Music Act is preloaded with two important clauses to prevent it's abuse. The first is that the artist must be on the countries banned artist list. (neither of the two tracks in discussion have an artist on this list) The Second clause is that the Emperor and Parliament must approve the blockage of the songs/artists. The ASC has never attempted to miss-use this law in this way before and an investigation has been started to uncover any potential truth to this rumour. The Federal Government of Ashton takes the manipulation of it's stringent protection laws very seriously with the minimum sentence for conspiracy being 5 years and for actual manipulation this rises to 15years."

The GRd'Á have made such an unusual step of intervening in the ASC case due to the a protectionism law being involved and the countries international reputation being at stake.

(The AshtonTimes is the countries most reliable and reputable source. Trumping that of a sensationalist blog that wishes it was CekBitch.)

Well I was respectful of you saying you wanted Emma, so I can confirm I haven't pinched her! (Assuming she's been taken rather than Nause!)

I didn't think you would. Especially as you were in the contest way back when in a time where we didn't have a reservation thread or a confirmation stampede.

Don't blame Farahtyn for this. The Ashton-Farahtyn relationship was nearly irreversibly damaged over Bassingthwaighte-gate!

Has someboy stolen one or both of your potential entries? :(

One of them and a Superfinalist from last month.

Clearly there are attempts to replicate my 2012 success afoot :kink:
