Ashton back to Presidential vote only!!!

The ASC with regret has decided that Ashton will temporarily go back to the Presidential vote for XXII. This means the President alone will decide the allocation of points, a move not seen since IV. This is due to the Televote and Jury Votes being ruled out by the ASC and SNA.

Just 3,780,284 votes were cast by mid week, usually votes by mid week are approx 450mil. The free-toll numbers and free web entry recorded their worst performance in national history with 1,280,222 votes being cast in the state of Sanvoria, 22 votes being cast in Holdsworth, 10 votes cast in Reigia d'Ashton Capitilia (Ashton Capital Territory - City of Morpeth Cove), 30 votes cast in Ashworth, 100,000 votes cast in Yanthington and 400,000 votes in Arkepelicania d'Saynher Janslic (Fotherington Island Archipelago)

The SNA can reveal that FSR Rontvia scored 2,467,283 votes, Kingdom of Shadow scored 854,002 votes, Numayania scored 347,921 votes and Herzebania picked up the remaining 111,078 votes. Due to the votes being less than 1% of the usual numbers and only 4 nations scoring points the SNA and ASC decided to scrap the televote/

The Jury vote was dismissed after nearly 95% of ASC staff have taken the XXII final week off with stress, Nervous Exhaustion and Insomnia brought on by the latest in a long line of Flops for Ashton. It is hoped that Ashton will return to normal on Monday following a week long period of violence and mourning. Our source at the AFP told us that the riots had reduced in numbers and protesters had stopped burning Lorikeet official buildings across the country. Protesters calling for the countries withdrawal from BJSC still remain outside Ashton House. One member of the protest told us that "They are unworthy of our superb, innovating and fresh song choices and they just feel threatened by the mighty Ashton". Our source at the ASC has confirmed to us that the ASC, SNA and GRA have a signed contract with The Buzzjack Broadcasting Union [the rights holders of BJSC] dated to XXV. The deal is likely to be extended to XXVII with Ashton then reviewing it's commitments to the contest.

Ashton goes old school

Having shocking DNQ'd this month the ASC has thrown Risks FTW firmly out the window for XXIII much to the delight of the Ashtonise public and has confirmed it's going old school for XXIII.

Another Risks FTW failure has taken it's toll on the team tasked with finding the Ashtonise entries. So much so, of the 10person team, 9 have signed off sick for the next two months. The ASC has made no attempt to cover their quest to return to the glory days when Ashton were regular fixtures in the top10.

The ASC has prematurely announced that Ashton will be represented in XXIII by the Sugababes. They will be singing Thank You For The Heartbreak [Live]. The ASC hopes TYFTH will follow in the foot steps of HITH into the final of XXIII.

The ASC, GRA, The President and Ashtonise public have thrown their support behind FSR Rontvia for XXII.

Back off Unoshake the Sugababes are mine

As Rich an i were discussing earlier, back in the day people actually cared about people other than themselves.

We have our commitment to the Xmas Special, but i still don't know if Ashton is coming back for XXIII.

The ban on promo tours and foreign journalists has been lifted by the GRA in light of the BJSC:Xmas Special

Ashton XXIII

Currently leading the way in the bid to become the Federal Republic of Ashton's 23rd Buzzjack Song Contest entry is Riverside (Let's Go) by Sidney Samson. The song would represent a deviation from the TrashyElectro the country has become known for, and Ashton's first foray into Dance. The Club hit is released in the new year in Ashton and chart experts reckon that it will be Ashton's first number 1 of 2010. Thank You For The Heartbreak was yesterday crowned as Ashton's official Christmas #1.

Also in consideration alongside Riverside is Far Away, the Jay Sean and Keisha Buchanan duet, Ashtonise #1 Thank You For The Heartbreak, Jessica Mauboy's Up/Down.

Still in consideration :kink:

Riverside  such a great choice which could well give Ashton their first win!

I'm actually strongly considering Echo by Girls Can't Catch at the moment, it keeps on growing on me - so much better than Keep Your Head Up and has massive BJSC potential I reckon :o could be my first personal chart #1 of 2010

Nobody marks down on cheap anyway, I think it would be fine...Love Story only did so badly because Taylor Swift isn't very popular on Buzzjack...she would have done just as well/badly if the song had been sent 6 months before I reckon :o
Cheap doesn't make a difference with my top 4 or 5 but if I'm choosing between giving 1 or 2 points or nothing, cheapness does make a difference with me :o

If we do enter Riverside it would probably be a remix, make it a bit less cheap

XXIII - Ashton

The ASC has announced that the following are in very serious contention to represent Ashton in BaNG at BJSC XXIII. Following a deeply unsuccessful year for the former most successful non winner the ASC has produced a short list of songs they reckon can help bring Ashton back to it's level of former glory.

Sidney Samson & Wizard Sleeve - Riverside (Let's Go) Dirty Extended Mix

Sidney Samson & Wizard Sleeve - Riverside (Let's Go) Radio Edit.

Jay Sean & Keisha Buchanan - Far Away

The ASC welcomes all opinions and reviews on the songs. An official announcement and confirmation is expected in the near future.

Far Away is good, but I don't LOVE it to be honest

Riverside is an ANTHEM :D

Official Confirmation || Ashton XXIII

Earlier than expected, the ASC and SNA have announced that Ashton will be competing in BaNG for the 23rd Buzzjack Song Contest with Sidney Samson and Wizard Sleeve's Riverside (Let's Go).

Following speculation that the country would withdraw following their third DNQ and string of poor results, the ASC has voted unanimously to honour and extend their 25contest deal with the Buzzjack Broadcasting Union to 30contests. The Ashtonise public have fully supported the move to enter Riverside, and protesters outside of Ashton House gave a standing ovation as the news was broken on the SNA's 24hour news screen in Ashton Square. The large outside screen relayed the recent TBO Final to the gathered crowd of 250,000 people who were ticket-less. Ashton Square [which is home to 3 of the countries most important/visited/recognised buildings] today played host to a crowd of 456,023 people as the announcement was made live from the Presidents Official Press Suite. The song choice has been praised unanimously across Ashton, with many anti-RisksFTW bloggers stating it was the end of Ashtons worst entry strategy.

The ASC have confirmed that Risks FTW remains a key strategy for them, and will continue to be used in the future in conjunction with new strategies currently in development. The ASC announcement and strategy review come after major changes within the ASC. The senior panel has been replaced and is now occupied by: The President, Keisha Buchanan, HRH Queen Mutya Buena of the Ashtonise Kingdom, RT Hon. Sayn Truvjen [MP for Sjan Tre-én[Ashtonise Minister for Music]], Amelle Berrabah, Grant Mortoné, Lucinda Norton and Drake Hollows.

The Federal Republic of Ashton are hoping the song will bring them the result they are hoping for.
