Well I commend you for sending a song that's song in something other than english. It's always a bold choice, but very risky.

It was always going to be a risk, one i thought would pay off :(

not indie necessarily maybe garage, metal, classical, trance? :heehee:

looking forward to hearing your choices for next month, I'll be sure to give my opinion as always :D not that it helped you much this month :(

I don't like the first 2, i can't really see Escala doing that well although i have considered them before and we tried and failed with dance. You will of course be receiving a PM in due course with our options for XXV

I'm surprised you didn't make it. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I didn't imagine it'd be the least popular of the three foreign entries in your semi. I suppose the other two had bigger Pop hooks, but it was the indie semi, so I thought you'd do alright. Before I'd added up the results I even suggested your semi could end up benefitting you (indie voters being more open to other languages etc.) but it wasn't so.

I would have thought it would have done better than the others for being less pure pop. :drama:

It scored less points than Nevio/Cilmi as well which is a bit $h!t.

Escala are fantastic, love their album :D

a few weeks ago, I was seriously considering sending a 'new age' instrumental to the contest - which would obviously be completely different to anything seen here before. But I'm probably alone in liking this type of music

I find it stunning, but I can't see that many other people would like it. I'm not sure that it would be allowed either, it's an instrumental adaptation of an old Eurovision song, I'm sure I could appeal to the mods for a loophole if I decided to send it, it's hardly cheap or anything

Can't see that doing much in BJSC tbh.

Seeing as my first entry was Dallas Austin produced, i'm leaning towards another Dallas Austin production for XXV

^ I know it wouldn't  hence why I didn't really consider sending it/never reserved it

XXIV, XXV and a new Queen

The Federal Republic recorded their third successive and fifth overall DNQ. If Ashton qualifies for XXV it will have failed to Qualify with 20% of it's entries.

Residents are furious at the news and are Boycotting XXIV with force. SNA and AMC have withdrawn BJSC related programming from TV and Radio, and many BJSC entries have been dropped from circulation. Quotosibb, Kopecka, FSR Rontvia and Numayania are all currently still in circulation. The first because of it's near appearance for Ashton and the latter three due to various trade agreements and alliances.

In better news, Ashton has crowned their 178th monarch. Queen Gabriella Cilmi was crowned at 1pm Ashtonise time yesterday and has spent her first day as Queen preparing for her Ashtonise arena tour.

The ASC, SNA and GRA are looking ahead to XXV and Ashton's 25th contest. Linked with the slot are The Sugababes, new Queen Gabriella Cilmi, Jessica Mauboy and various Dallas Austin Productions.

On the subject, I wouldn't particularly say indie's all that 'in' at the moment :o A lot of it qualified I reckon purely because the semis were so surprisingly divided into a proper, full-on indie semi and a proper, full-on pop semi - most people felt like going for something different as the music climate is quite slow at the moment. Carry on going for pop I say, you'll hit a gem eventually!

Ashton goes True Blue early

The ASC and SNA today official unveiled their BJSC XXV challenger.

The Federal Republic of Ashton will be represented in their 25th participation by Aussie Renee Cassar. Renee, from the state of Victoria, is signed to Universal Australia but is yet to release her debut album. Her debut single was released in Australia in late August and in Ashton on Monday.

Ashtonise midweeks put it at #2 behind Megahit Thank You For The Heartbreak [Which was released in Ashton prior to Keisha's shocking sacking].

The song, Its Not You, has been described as a CountryPopRock spectacular and bloggers within Ashton have tipped it as the track to bring Ashton back with Powah! One blogger went as far to say it was Ashton's best chance at top5 since The Fear.

Queen Gabriella Cilmi announces self as BJSC XXV entrant

HRH Queen Gabriella Cilmi of the Ashtonise Kingdom today announced to the gathered presses of The Federal Republic of Ashton, The Commonwealth of Australia and Arkepelicania d'Saynher Janslic to announce that she was to represent Ashton at the 25th Buzzjack Song Contest.

Ashton, who have gone through a slump in recent months with three consecutive DNQ's, were thought to be entering Renee Cassar and Its Not You. The ASC have failed to comment on Queen Cilmi's speech.

The news came during Queen Cilmi's first official address to the Kingdom, on the week of the release of her new single On A Mission [which is expected to end Thank You For The Heartbreak's record breaking 16week run as the Ashtonise #1], The latest monarch unveiled plans to wipe out poverty among the Aboriginal's within Northern Territory.

The Queen has revealed that her official airline for her reign shall be Qantas/Qantash. The worlds largest airline carries 125million passengers daily across the world. Qantash [The Ashtonise arm of Qantas] is the market leader in Ashton with 27% of the market.
