SNÁ hints at Ashton's 33rd entry

A highly ranked executive at SNÁ who tweets under the alias "@schedujlmasquer" [English: Masked Scheduler] hinted at the 33rd representative of Ashton today in this series of tweets:

@schedujlmasquer just had a meeting with ASC about next BJSC entry [30mins ago]

@schedujlmasquer there was only one song suggested, no others were needed [28mins ago]

@schedujlmasquer it's a bit of a risk. the track is a ballad [25mins ago]

@schedujlmasquer and it's by a former Ashton representative [20mins ago]

The tweets have the entire nation talking on the eve of the 32nd contest results where Anniela is aiming to continue Ashton's impressive return to form.

In a joint statement the ASC and SNÁ confirmed a choice had been made and would be revealed to the Ashtonise public at the same time it was revealed to the international audience. This move is highly unprecedented for Ashton and hints at level of secrecy this entry has been given. It is understood a contract was signed months ago at a SNÁ studio in Santryan.

Anniela finished 11th in FSR Rontvia

As Lykke Li does the double for FSR Rontvia with their worst entry in 29contests Anniela misses out on the top10, would have been Ashton's 5th in a row, by a single point finishing in 11th with 72points. Social networking sites have been flooded with messages of despair as Ashton's sensational top10 run comes crashing to a halt.

Ashton's next entry is the subject of much debate within Ashton, with rumours of former entrant Laura Critchley making a reappearance.

Could Ashton be back to it's risk taking best?

The DNC feat Miss Amani - Electric

After getting a random play at 1am in the popular Morpeth Cove night club 'Ørstænd' and the Norwegian/American duo 'Dual Nation Collective', who are currently US based, have rocketed to number 1 on the AshTunes chart. Just hours before the track got it's début spin at an SNÁ sponsored event DNC and Miss Amani were seen leaving Ashton House via the highly secured back entrance.

Speculation is rife that Ashton has signed the track to be it's 33rd BJSC entry and with both the SNÁ and the ASC remaining quiet on the manner the BJSC blogosphere is rife with rumours.

Stan Walker for Ashton

The ASC formerly announced today that they had chosen Stan Walker to represent Ashton at the 34th BuzzJack Song Contest via Internal Selection. The Maori descendent, New Zealand native and Australian Idol alumni will be making his first appearance in the BuzzJack Song Contest with Ashton after officials from the ASC and SNÁ announced they were seeking an artist who'd never participated before for the 34th contest.

Stan will be Ashton's third all male entry after Haffi Haff in BJSC XV and Sidney Samson and Wizzard Sleeve in BJSC XXIII, and the fourth to feature any male vocals after the two already mentioned and the classic Ashton entry Non Ti Aspettavo by Nevio with Gabriella Cilmi failed to qualify in BJSC XVII. Stan Walker will be the 26th artist to represent Ashton and the 21st to make their BJSC debut with the country.

The ASC and SNÁ have announced that they are still standing by their Risks FTW strategy that has seen the country have a stunning return to form in recent months with Ashton's debut victory, two 4th places, two 9th places and an 11th coming just two contests Ashton's streak of 4 consecutive DNQ's was ended by the change in format. They did however announce that they intended to use the Risks FTW strategy to debut as many new artists as they could as they would like to move away from Ashton's reliance on "artist-recycling". Ashton are currently BuzzJack's leading country when it comes to "artist-recycling" vastly outnumbering the remainder of Buzzjack with a massive 13 recycled entries.

Stan is expected to enter his debut Ashtonise single, Loud.

Revised results see Ashton down a place to 5th, four embassies invited to leave

A mix up in the tie breaking procedure has seen Ashton drop from 4th to 5th in the final rankings adding to the growing anger felt about the highly manipulated results which saw Ashton surge ahead with a massive lead to then have a run of 15 'nil points' and slump to a tied 4th position.

The Ministry for Foreign Relations and the Ashtonise Representative for Embassy Relations have urged the embassies for Utopia, Herzebania, People's Republic of Jester and Batidas to leave the country for their own protection. Ashton has been peaceful since the Santryan Eco-Terrorist attack but the nation is notoriously volatile with a penchant for rioting and have burned the Torchwood embassy to the ground at least five times.

In other news, Ash-Torchwoodian relations continued to improve after the countries swapped big points this month with Ashton netting a 12points from Torchwood. A peaceful demonstration in favour of closer co-operation between the two nations has attracted widespread support and more than 10,000 people are rallying on Constitution Drive where the Torchwood embassy is currently located.

North Korea looks like a better place to live than Ashton.

The Federal Republic of Ashton is a wonderful place to live and the right to protest is held in high regard and the rioting is a form of protest and the people are very happy to accommodate that. The Eco-Terrorism has been wiped out following the Santryan terrorist attack and Ashton has the feeling of safety it used to have.

I just imagined a robot saying this before it malfunctions and starts killing all people. And it felt like a natural thing.

Jag Kommer continues Ashton's Swedish success

Ashton continued their recent success streak with it's record 12th qualification in a row. Veronica Maggio is a move away from the traditional Ashton sound as the Federal Republic continues to vary it's entries. Jag Kommer and it's parent album, Satan I Gatan, are both currently at #1 in Ashton.

Ashton seize top3 in both BJSC XXXVII and all time rankings

Ashton's 140 points haul to second place with Veronica Maggio saw Ashton continue their renaissance with another top5 position! The countries 5th in 10 contests, an Ashtonise record. Further cementing this superb run of results (which includes 2 further top10s and an 11th) is the news that Ashton has completed it's goal for 2011 by becoming the third most successful nation of all time when they finally passed Mdice. Scoring 22 more points than the target 118 needed to take 3rd, Ashton got the necessary points with plenty of room to spare.

The search is currently on to find the next artist to continue Ashton's outstanding success streak as we head to FSR Farahtyn for the first time.

In other news, Jessica Mauboy publically apologises to the Ashtonise people for taking a different country to the top of the leaderboard with an inferior track to the one entered by Ashton in it's back to back 4th's with Canadian duo KaraMel.

Morten Breum and Sissie Marie through to the final

Morten Breum and Sissie Marie have qualified for the final of BJSC XXXVIII. Ashton's renaissance is continuing with the countries 32nd final and a record 12th in a row. The English language Danish dance track is a change in direction from last month's more indie entry.

The ASC and SNÁ are not targeting a big finish with 'Every Time (You Look At Me)' after fulfilling the countries 2011 objective last month. So far this year Ashton has climbed from 5th to 3rd on the all time board and has built on last years exciting debut victory.

BJSC XXXVIII Results still unknown

Ashton's BJSC XXXVIII result is still unknown after the country was involved in a 4 way tie from 14th down to 17th.

In other news, Ashton was considering two options for BJSC XXXIX until one was snatched away by a country who when probed confirmed they were considering a similar but different song. Naturally the Ashtonise National Guard and Aquatica Guardia d'Áskorza have been mobilised in preparation for a conflict with Budtar.

Ashton's more peaceful option is the theme to hit TV show Covert Affairs. The show has gained a cult following and substantial ratings in Ashton since SNÁ|1 won the rights to broadcast the USA network's shows earlier this year.

Ashton DNQ's for first time in over a year

The Federal Republic failed to qualify for the final of the 39th Buzzjack Song Contest. The streets within the country are calm after the tragic but not entirely expected DNQ. SNÁ has just confirmed it will air a Bones marathon instead of the BJSC XXXIX Final.

The Federal Republic of Ashton BJSC 2011 Round-up

The Federal Republic of Ashton has wrapped up a fantastic year with a 15th place for Stan Walker and Static Revenger and finishing 4th in the year end rankings, a record for Ashton.

The year began with back to back 4th place finishes for Jessica Mauboy and Karamel and the Ashtonise renaissance started by the countries début victory continued throughout the year with hits from Anniela, THE SANDÉN and Kristine Elezaj. Stan Walker, Static Revenger and Morten Bruem with Sissy Marie brought home three further top 20 finishes with just The DNC missing out finishing 21st.

Regrettably Ashton's record breaking number of final appearances in a row was halted by Apple Trees & Tangerines failing to qualify for the 39th contest with the decades only DNQ for Ashton. The first time since the One Big Final system was introduced.

The highlight of the year came with Veronica Maggio placing second giving Ashton it's third top 3. Veronica now joins Ashtonise legends Lily Allen (I Don't Know - 2nd BJSC VI) and Molly Sandén (Mitt Liv Ar Mitt - Winner BJSC XXVIII) in the top3 club.

The ASC is pleased with the progress the country has continued to make over the past year and a half and promises another year filled with variation and new artists as outlined in Risks FTW 2011.

Broadcaster SNÁ is contracted as Ashton's national BJSC broadcaster until BJSC L under it's current contract. It is likely that the broadcaster, that took over from AMC when AMC's Ashtonise Language Channel was spun off to provide competition to the monopoly of AMC in 2008, will be awarded a further 25 contests by the ASC early next year.

Santi Natio Áskorza has reported the following viewing figures for the finals of the third decade of the BJSC:

BJSC XXXI - 986,289,183

BJSC XXXII - 988,221,229

BJSC XXXIII - 972,198,322

BJSC XXXIV - 1,000,211,930

BJSC XXXV - 965,445,311

BJSC XXXVI - 951,365,881

BJSC XXXVII - 994,369,971

BJSC XXXVIII - 985,233,118

BJSC XXXIX - 136,410*

BJSC XL - 897,466,120

* Final aired on a tape delay at 2:35am AST (Ashton Standard Time, 1:35am SST - Sanvorian Standard Time, 3:35am AEIST - Ashton Eastern & Island Standard Time) in favour of a Bones marathon.
