My view is that we live in a Democracy and as the BNP got a million votes in the local elections then yes, let's see what he has to say. If others won't appear then tough, let him have the hour to himself.

Ironic considering the BNP do extremely little to promote democracy. I think BBC's dilemma was heavily contributed by the nature of questions Griffin will be asked by the audience. I'm sure security will be up a notch on the night.

They should invite him on and save the teadious rants about being treated like an unlegit party. Plus, moral dilemma aside, BBC are guaranteed to secure admirable viewing figures! :D

tbh i think many of you will be expecting a bnp bloodbath if this programme goes out.... however im sure nick griffin will make a good account and (depending on the oposition) fair quite well... i think hes shrewd and will avoid crucifiction.

The other parties should wheel out their sharpest debaters

I would love to see the Tories send Ken Clarke in there, a barrister and sharpest debater in the party if not in parliament

I would love to see Labour send in their best and sharpest debater

I would like to see a leading black barrister as one of the panelists too someone who is intelligent and black and can utterly destroy Griffin in debate

Doesn't anyone here agree with the BNP policy of no more immigration at all, because I do. We're an Island with finite space and our health, housing and social services are already over-stretched. There's been a sharp rise in births amongst immigrants, both legal illegal, it was announced last week. Maternity services here in London are very over-stretched. We should close our borders NOW and let NO-ONE ELSE IN, NO-ONE AT ALL. It's nothing to do with race and colour at all. Many immigrants living here near us are in fact white, from Lithuania, the Balkan countries etc. If anyone wants to debate this without personal insults and saying I'm a BNP member, which I'm not, then feel free.

You obviousley have no comprehension of the positive role immigrants play in our society. I've already mentioned that alot of NHS staff are from abroad. To be honest i'd rather have a working immigrant in the country then a british born and bred slacker who lives off the state. Not only that but how many years have right wing arseholes been saying we can't have anymore people in the country because it'll f*** everything up? Ever since the windrush generation came here after WW2 i immagine. The governemnt should be tougher on immigration, i agree illegal immigrants shouldn't be allowed in however legal hardworking immigrants have advanced our society and make britian what it is.

It is not about their policies as such, several of their policies I agree with but it is the PARTY themselves

Many of the BNP command have convictions for racial assaults, security is provided by Combat 18 who are responsible for most of the football violence in the 70's and 80's, there are very strong links between the BNP and Johnny Adair the mass murderer of dozens of catholics, the BNP and Griffin deny the holocaust, the BNP don't accept applications by blacks of jews not that any would be stupid enough to join in the first place but the BNP believes in race hate and believes in violence to achieve its ends

It does not matter whether Griffin dresses up in a smart Saville Row suit and has a Sun reader manifesto that is just to try and look "respectable" but give the BNP any sort of power they will be herding up anyone with a non white face and spreading hate and violence, they are a neo nazi organisation that just happen to wear smart suits as opposed to jackboots and swastikas

A quick question. Something that's puzzling me. How can the BNP know the colour of everyone who applies to join the party? Some have names that don't suggest they're black. So how do they go about denying them all membership?

The UK population is 61m now though and that is just unsustainable for such a small island, and with Turkey next to join the EU the influx of Turks into Britain is going to make the massive influx of poles seem nothing, the resources of this country are already overstretched be it roads, schools, NHS, housing, railways, welfare and while immigrants are not solely to blame the time has come where we have to say enough is enough and close the doors except to overseas professionals such as doctors/surgeons and businessmen who are prepared to set up businesses in this country

By closing the doors to new immigrants black and white hopefully over a decade with deaths and migration taken into account the population can dip by a few million and make this country less overcrowded and overstretched as trust me with the influx of turks to come and the fact muslims in particular tend to be heavy breeders and the continuing influx of eastern europeans in a decade we will have a population of 65m+ which is unrealistic

I don't think closing the doors and saying "Britain is full" is racist as both whites and blacks will be affected

I would also bring in other policies such as

1) Deportation of any immigrant who commits a criminal offence

2) Introduce a voluntary repatriation program where people are encouraged financially to return to their homeland by for example taxpayer funded one way plane ticket and the equivalent of 6 months salary based on the average wage of that country, this would hopefully encourage a number of immigrants to return to their home country (black and white) and ease the burden on the infrastructure of the country

If we were the size of France or Australia it would not be a big deal but we are a tiny island and our infrastructure and services simply can't handle current population levels let alone continue to expand so radical solutions are needed

People who refuse the BNP the right to voice their opinions are almost as bad as the BNP. One of the main reasons why people vote for them is because they do not understand what they stand for (did anyone see the Vice magazine interview with Babes of the BNP?). If you let them voice their opinions then people will understand just how racist they are.

If people then decide to vote in the BNP regardless of the fact that they know what they stand for then so be it; we obviously are living in the worng country!!! It would confirm to me that I need to move away..I'd rather that than live in a country of secret racists

id sooner have a hard working migrant in this country then a bone idle slacker who has given nothing to society but taken all....

Agree totally Rob. Everyone should be working or doing community work like picking up litter or cleaning graffiti, unless they have an illness and are thus on Incapacity Benefit. There aren't enough jobs though but would be if immigrants stopped coming in and taking them.

How the hell does having so called depression in your case prevent you from picking up litter ? you have mobile arms and mobile legs and can do computer tasks and do the shopping and interact down the pub so you got no bloody excuse man, you are not in a wheelchair or have prosthetics

You do have an illness it is called bone idleness :manson:

Why do debates here always get turned in to personal digs against me and my lifestyle? My last post was on topic yet BA comes back with insults and an inflaming post. Let's stick to discussing in general please as I'm doing. I'm sure the mods here and admin too would agree with me that personal digs aren't what Perspectives is about. What I do in my life or where my income's from is nothing to do with anyone here. Let's stay on topic then shall we?

Well my mum's not racist. She's 84 now and has voted Labour all her life yet is thinking of voting BNP at the next GE as she agrees with them on immigration. Just that reason. Couldn't believe it when she told me. Makes her angry when she sees them in shops in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, using their food vouchers to buy alcohol and kids toys. There are asylum seekers n my home town now and weren't a few years' ago. She told one couple off, said "those should be for food only" If another party said they'd stop all immigration she'd vote for them as she doesn't really want to vote BNP. She's not daft, knows what they are.

THIS. I second all of this.

I agree with your point about deporting any immigrant who commits crime; if someone came in and pissed in your house, you would kick them out. The same principle should be extended to countries.

However I don't agree with your idea on blocking ALL immigration. I'd say if there is a GENUINE reason (asylum, death threats because of political ideology, family members etc.) I say fair enough, let them in.

If Britain was to close it's doors off to everyone, should we also not expect all other nations to close their doors of to us, don't forget plenty of Britons go off for retirements in the sun, new lives in warmer climates etc.

Because you deliberately make comments that you KNOW are going to bring you nothing but grief. You know by now everybody's views on your lifestyle, so what did you honestly expect would happen when you come in stating that "everybody should be working" when you yourself don't? People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

The more you post, the more I'm inclined to side with those who believe you to be a deliberate wind-up troll. I'm sure the mods here and admin too would agree with me that wind-up trolls aren't what Perspectives is about. Perhaps in the Lounge, or the Saturdays forum. Not here.

People who vote BNP for those reasons are as bad as the genuine racist BNP voters. Because they will be JUST as responsible as the racists when the BNP get in power and throw the country back into the dark ages.
