Lily Allen has revealed that she has started working on her next album and admits she is "excited" about her new musical direction.

 

It will be the first album since the 'Smile' singer's debut Alright Still. She has spent the last couple of weeks in a studio in the Cotswolds recording new material.

 

She said that the new album will be a "different musical direction and really quite exciting".

 

Allen also revealed on her MySpace page that she has been discussing fronting a new television show. Earlier this month it was revealed that she would be making her acting debut in a spoof Pride and Prejudice alongside comedian Russell Brand, playing the part of Lydia Bennet.
