TIPs Chart Singles Prediction Game - Week 2 2008

WEEK 2 IN 2008!!!

 

Each week I will ask you to predict where 14 (mainly new) singles are going to be in the following Sunday's chart.

 

If it is a quiet week I will ask you to predict some records that are already in the chart rather than ask you to predict some single that you have never heard of & which will probably fail to make the Top75.

 

The point scoring will be as before (10 pts if spot on with your prediction down to 1 pt if you are 9 positions out. A 75+ prediction if correct will still be worth 5 Points).

 

If a single is pulled from release or non-chart eligible then everyone's prediction for that question will be void and everyone will be awarded 5 points.

 

I will ask THREE bonus questions which require a Yes or No answer. Each bonus question is worth 20 Pts.

 

Therefore for a normal week there will be a maximum of 200 Points to gain.

You have up until 09:00 UK Time on Tuesday 8th January to get your entries in (I'll be keeping the thread open), but any entries altered after the midweeks have arrived will be excluded. :lol:

 

Each Game counts towards the Overall & Average Score Leaderboards at the end of the year.

The Overall Leaderboard Points System: Review

 

I'm trying to keep the game fresh for a new year, so I've come up with an idea regarding the scoring on the Overall Leaderboard of the Year, which might be preferred for 2008.

 

The 2007 Overall Leaderboard simply accumulated all the points you scored in each of the Games you played (i.e you scored 100 Pts in a weekly Game, then 100 Points went towards your overall Leaderboard score). Obviously if you played all the weekly games then you were near certain to accumulate more points than someone who only played 10 Games less, so the alternative idea is as follows:

 

A points system format similar in concept to those used in Motor Racing based on the position you finish in a weekly Game equals the number of points you gain.

 

My suggestion for 2008 is:

 

1st 50 Pts

2nd 40 Pts

3rd 35 Pts

4th 30 Pts

5th 25 Pts

6th 20 Pts

7th 18 Pts

8th 16 Pts

9th 14 Pts

10th 12 Pts

11th 10 Pts

12th 9 Pts etc ....... down to 20th 1 Point

 

Any ties would see the points for those positions shared amongst those positions (i.e. there is a two way tie for 5th place = 25+20 divided by 2 = 22.5 Pts each.

 

 

The advantage of this scoring system is it gives someone who misses a handful of games a greater opportunity of climbing the Leaderboard. Of course you may well prefer the existing system but that is your choice.
