Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 28/03/25
When things like that happen it's usually because a second version of the song is starting to appear lower in the chart. One of the things I hate about the Amazon chart is they don't combined songs. "APT." is back to having 2 versions top 10 at #3 & #8 for instance or "Die With A Smile" at #4 & #42. Shame to see Linkin Park out of the top 200 2nd day and still not appearing on Apple top 200. Although not surprised given lack of support outside of NMF. On the plus side they're hanging on Amazon at #128. Can only hope they will get a little more playlist support when playlists update Monday. Music video up to almost 5 million views which is good. Also top 10 on iTunes for what that's worth. Think top 40 debut might be quite difficult now.

The episode was nice. Maybe unpopular opinion but I thought Jewels beat Onya in the lip sync and it wasn't a double shantay worthy lip sync. Although predictable given family being on this episode and it was a nice/warm episode overall! Sam was by far the best so rightfully won. So close to the finale now, just 1 more episode to go!

Ed Sheeran - Play
You know well that Ed would want the #1 album no matter what. Still doesn't change the fact the promotional campaign, singles etc was pretty much non-existent unlike the main albums he pushes.

Great to see Linkin park at #55 on spotify. Not in the top 200 on Apple Music still - don't think it got any playlist support there. It's up to #128 on Amazon which is nice to see. The youtube video has over 3.6 million views so far - hopefully a decent chunk of that is from the UK. Hoping they will manage to debut top 40 and perhaps get added to HHUK when it updates Monday or more support from Apple/Amazon. Or maybe it will go viral on TikTok or something (can only hope!).

Great start for Ariana! Adele - "Hometown Glory" Amazon: #35 (+120). New peak for main version. Apple Music: #59 Spotify: #74 Climibing nicely on spotify again. I've been seeing videos of the song being used now on my social media so might manage to climb a bit more on spotify to another new peak in the coming days? I think it did close to its highest streams on spotify yesterday.

2025 BPI Certifications
It's only the 2nd song after Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69" to go 5x platinum and missed the top 40. The first to go 5x platinum and miss the top 75. Some other low-peaking songs with high certifications: Imagine Dragons - "Believer" 4x Platinum, #42 peak (still can't believe how low this peaked!). Van Morrison - "Brown Eyed Girl" 4x Platinum, #60 peak. Arctic Monks - "505" 3x platinum, #73 peak. Billie Eillish - "Oceans Eyes" 3x Platinum, #72 peak. Billie Eillish & Khalid - "Lovely" 3x platinum, #47 peak. Neighbourhood - "Sweater Weather" 3x platinum, #49 peak.

Linkin Park - From Zero
Really enjoy this. Have it stuck in my head after a couple listens - hopefully it'll do decently! It's on NMF which is a good sign although not on HHUK.

The new Linkin Park song is quite good, can see that making a splash in the top 40, perhaps top 20. Music video almost at half a million views in just a few hours which bodes well. They're at #7 on NMF. The Jax Jones & Rebecca Black collab is quite good although too short! Needs an extended version. At #5 on NMF.

I want to say Onya but I have this nagging feeling Lexi will take it at the last hurdle. Hoping I'm wrong and Onya kills the finale and claims the crown!

Not top 100 if there's no Apple or Spotify streams at all. Although ACR can mess with things. Generally speaking though Amazon can help songs to chart in the top 100. Kylie Minogue is a good example for a number of singles. "Dance Alone" or "Lights Camera Action" - strong support from Amazon (think "Dance Alone" even went top 10 for a bit) but very poor on Apple/Spotify. Without the Amazon support they likely wouldn't have charted in the top 100.

Linkin Park - From Zero
Music video also releasing at the same time. Out in a couple hours or so: Excited! Hope we get a decent amount of new songs on the deluxe version.

The Official Labour Calmer Steering Thread (mk III)
The thing that made me the most disgusted was upping the age from 18 to 22 for claiming incapacity benefit. What was the reason for that? At 18 you are an adult. You should not be punished for being a young adult with a serious long-term illness or disability.

Jax Jones, Rebecca Black & Sooyeon – Bad Boys
Sounds promising. Recebba Black getting a hit in 2025? That would be interesting!

Yes I think rejoining the EU would probably be the best option, especially with what's happening in the US. The UK should align much closer with the EU and on top of the general benefit, Canada is also working with the EU for a closer partnership which would benefit the UK as well. Or perhaps not rejoin the EU but rejoin the single market. The boost to the economy from that alone will help to balance the books a lot more easily.

Miley Cyrus - Something Beautiful
Same. But the film was handled really weirdly release-wise. It only released in a small number of countries with staggered release timings and such. With the very positive reception of the film I was expecting it would get a wide-release globally and the song would naturally do well from that. But I guess it was a limited release then straight to streaming services. The film did make a fair profit at least (it's still being released in some countries such as New Zealand last week)! Rumour is a lead single will be coming before album release, supposedly called "Walk Of Fame". Although take with a pinch of salt, not sure how realiable that rumour is.

Miley Cyrus - Something Beautiful
So excited! The visuals look great. I hope we get all 13 music videos uploaded properly and the long-form/full thing at the same time.

I only heard "Ordinary" the other day and quite like it, can see why it's doing well!

Miley Cyrus - Something Beautiful
Miley had said previously the album is inspired by Pink Floyd's "The Wall". So expecting it to be Pop/Rock infused.

Miley Cyrus - Something Beautiful
Just got emailed by spotify about the limited edition smoke red Vinyl. Can't believe it's coming so soon. I wonder when we'll get the lead single? Or if the album will just drop all at once?

Adele - "Hometown Glory" Amazon - #49 (+171) Apple Music - #53 Spotify - #82 I think that's the highest it's been on Amazon (combined) and Apple Music so far. Might climb into the top 30 in the official chart this week?

This episode was OK. I wished they were able to have more stage props etc to enhance the performances. Onya & Lexi rightly winning. Honestly I woud've had Suzie vs Sam for the bottom 2 as Lana's dancing was quite good and I didn't think her story that bad. Sam's dancing just wasn't great. Likewise Suzie's dancing was a bit meh. And the lip sync was good! And lowkey Lana won that. You could tell by the edit of the lip sync they were setting it up for Sam to win as Lana did a number of great things that the camera didn't focus on or were cut out of frame. Lana sending home Sam would've been such a gag.
