#191. Charli xcx - "Apple" Only song on Apple Music. Will be interesting to see how big of a boost she'll get from the Grammys. Already won 3 awards with the main ceremony yet to come!

Trump: Folie à Deux (US Politics Thread)
I think you miss the clear distinction as has already been mentioned of China (a major competitor) vs Mexico & Canada which are allies that share a good trading relationship with the US. Or did.

RPDR | US | Season 17
The episode was quite flat. I wasn't a fan on the skits in general. I thought Arietty should've been safe with Kori in the bottom. Honestly I think Onya should've won. Rooting for her to get the crown *_* Also the queens were so bothered in untucked.

I like what I've heard so far from The Weeknd's album, although the highs not as high as those on his previous albums. I really enjoyed Dawn FM as well. Hopefully the end of the triology will mean his next album will be fresher/more interesting. I believe he's releasing a film for the album in May which could boost the album as it looks like it has a decent budget and stars Jenna Ortega. Not much impact on Amazon yet, "Timeless" at #59 there currently. I assume we'll see the album making more of a splash over the weekend.

2025 BPI Certifications
Lots of great certification this week! For some reason I thought Paloma's "Upside Down" was a much bigger hit than it was originally. I remember I used to hear it a lot. Happy to see it going gold despite only peaking at #55!

Estimated ACR status updates 2025
Hoping we'll see quite a lot of those on DLC-2 go to ACR next week. Could be a much needed clear out in the top 100 *_*

Abracadabra ● 3rd single
To be fair "Disease" got good treatment, with good playlisting and such release week. It just didn't resonate with people as much. It's managed to trickle stream/sell well though so should go on to do decent streams. Could see it doing 400-500 million on spotify within a couple years (assuming it'll get a nice boost from the album release, currently on 125 million streams and still doing 500k-1 mil streams/day I believe!).

SPOILERS | RPDR | UK vs. the World
Kinda happy Cara Melle isn't doing it. I need her on a series of US All Stars, Global All Stars or UK All stars (if it ever happens) than the mess that will be UK vs. the World *_*

"Fat Juicy & Wet" up to new peak of #50 on Amazon. Also #36 on Apple Music (peaked at #35 a little earlier). Also debuts in the top 20 on youtube at #19 for 26-27/1, with 140,167 views. Should go top 40 on Friday given it's been rising across the board for all streaming services as the week has progressed.

Top 40 on Apple Music now at #40 and appearing/climbing on Amazon at #68. :cheeseblock:

Tyla - PUSH 2 START
Debuts at #88 on the Hot 100!! :cheer: Come on label, release the song to pop radio in the US. It's been gaining on Urban/Rhythmic radio there quite nicely. Sleeper hit and song of the summer 2025 please? :cheeseblock:

Mayhem ● 7th album
I wonder if the album will become eligible for platinum before being released in the US? Particularly if the 3rd single does well *_* Looking forward to hearing the album! :cheer:

Miley Cyrus - Beautiful That Way
The movie isn't out until the 10/2 here, so maybe when it's released the song will get a bit of a boost? Although the US release of the movie hasn't garnered a huge success so far, but don't think it's been given a wide release. In fact the release strategy of the film has been a bit weird. Although maybe they're hoping for a valentines day tie-in/boost.

RPDR | US | Season 17
I thought the challenge was quite good this week and most queens did well! And the runways!! So many great looks from the queens on this season. Judging pretty much on point. Really enjoying season 17 so far!

Greatest Chart Run Ever: The Beatles vs. Take That vs. Oasis
I think One Direction will likely get top 3 by the end of the decade if Harry releases a couple albums. Niall could also help with album #1s.
-
Lola Young - Messy
Ye it's taking off there which is great! Recently reached a new peak on US spotify at #11 and it's gaining well on radio. Also #14 on Apple Music US which is amazing given the domination of Bad Bunny and R&B/Hip-Hop on the platform. :cheer:

Best year of following the charts since 2014
Omg I totally forgot about that and her X-factor performance of the song

Could CDs/digital downloads ever make a comeback?
I think digital downloads could make a comeback with large price reductions, let's say 10p per song. Although it's very unlikely any platform will ever offer prices that low. CD singles I believe have had a bit of a mini-comeback though with a lot of artists now selling CDs for their singles for fans. We've seen them make a decent difference to get songs to new peaks. Although chart rules were put in place so that signed CDs no longer count which is unfortunate.

The Official Labour Calmer Steering Thread (mk III)
To be fair, there's a bit more nuance due to the fact Boris was in charge of Brexit at the time and the leaks from US trade negotiations had things such as opening up the NHS to private US pharmaceutical companies as well as things like allowing import/selling of chlorinated chicken. Not to mention the position Starmer is in currently is completely different from 5-6 years ago, being Prime Minister.

The Official Labour Calmer Steering Thread (mk III)
Was great seeing Trump (as much as I dislike him) saying Starmer was doing a very good job. Especially in contrast to Elon. Hopefully things will be more smooth sailing than previously thought. Also large MRP poll showing every single constituency in the UK wants the EU to be top priority for trading relations, even in reform seats... Definitely feel like we'll be looking at returning to the EU sometime in the 2030s if Labour get a 2nd term. Or at the very least re-joining the single market. https://www.bestforbritain.org/january_2025...oritising_trade

PAWSA & The Adventures of Stevie V - "Dirty Cash (Money Talks)" up to #9 on Amazon now, new peak. "APT." up to #2 & #4 on Amazon as well ("Messy" down 1 to #3). Sexyy Red & Bruno Mars - "Fat Juicy & Wet" up to #74 on Apple Music.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
Happy to see "Fat, Juicy & Wet" debuting! Hoping it'll grow *_* It's climbing quite nicely on Apple Music now - up to #99. Not surprised Central Cee & Dave not debuting at #1 given it only got as high as #4 on Apple Music. Maybe another week of "Messy" vs "APT." for #1 with Central Cee new in at #3? "APT." up to #2 on Apple Music and #3 & #4 on Amazon. Although looks like "Messy" will likely remain #1, especially as the lead "APT." had on youtube is much smaller now! Tate McRae - "Sports Car" strong start on Amazon, up to #38.
