The Official Labour Calmer Steering Thread (mk III)
Honestly pretty horrid budget for the average working person (myself). Some positives but none of the positives have much if any application to me (rail fare freezes, child benefit cap removed, minimum wage & pension increases etc). I think this is the first time I feel like I'm being screwed over. The salary sacrifice being capped for private pensions has particularly annoyed me. Taxing money beyond £2k that goes in only for it to then be taxed again when you claim your pension...Yet there's been a big focus on trying to get people to save for their retirement Hopefully that's something that will get scrapped. Labour will certainly go down in the polls after this. They will need a miracle to get a 2nd term in government it looks like! Hopefully it'll translate into the Lib Dems/Greens gaining and a coalition government that doesn't involve reform or the conservatives at the next election.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 21/11/25
I didn't think to check! That's great - should go top 75 this week then. Glad to see "Chanel" up to #156 on Spotify. #200 on Apple Music so holding on (although barely!). It's also now appearing on Amazon at #625 - should hopefully rise fast (taking out duplicates/Christmas songs it would likely be top 100 on Amazon ). Tyla is from South Africa and November is usually when their spring is ending and summer begins so in one way perfect timing!

Tyla's "Chanel" enters at #171 on spotify! Hope it keeps climbing - it's getting some playlist support now too (added to today's top hits). If it climbs enough we may see it top 100 in the singles chart on Friday (taking into account 3 track rule/ACR)? Also enters the Apple Music chart at #194! That looks promising. Hope it can become a top 40 hit, perhaps in the new year once the Christmas songs are gone?

Friday Chart Predictions
From my understanding Taylor is doing a big push Christmas week. There's a rumoured Christmas-themed music video for "Opalite" that's been filmed. Her focus will mainly be on the US but wouldn't be surprised if Taylor pushes for the Christmas #1 on both the album and singles chart!

I think this is the largest gap she's had Vs Taylor so maybe it'll increase as the week goes on. Although need the song to get ahead on other platforms as well!

Estimated ACR status updates 2025
Come on Taylor go to ACR please *_* Let RAYE sneak in a week at #1 before the Christmas songs become too strong!

RAYE - WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!
RAYE's doing some US promo and some great performances of the song from the last week:
-
FKA twigs - EUSEXUA Afterglow
I agree, the album is more instant for me! Loving "Wild And Alone" & "Hard" at the moment. The album is perfect background music when working too. Also "Love Crimes" is slowly creeping up the rankings for me, the production is addictive. *_*

RAYE - WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!
New peak of #7 on global spotify and #18 on US spotify! This is going to be a bigger global hit than "Escapism" I can feel it! Can't wait for the Christmas clear out and hoping this song will be the biggest winner *_*

Tyla - CHANEL
New peak of #57 on the global spotify chart. Hoping to see the song on various playlists when they update tonight!

Miscellaneous singles chart records that will NEVER be broken?
To be fair I think Glee would still get just as many hits if the 3 track rule was implemented back then as they released new songs each week to cooincide with the show which would usually be the highest charting song of theirs the following week (or at least in their top 3 highest charting songs). I think a few of the records will be beaten. Taylor Swift will likely rack up quite a lot of top 10 hits still in the coming decade or two - she's on 33 currently I believe? 20 of those are from the 2020s alone. I know Taylor has the drive that she wants to become the biggest/best selling female artist of all time so can see her releasing a new album at least every 2-3 years for the forseeable future. She could eventually challenge for the #1 record as well although is only on 5 #1s at the moment (4 of these are from the 2020s).

Friday Chart Predictions
I wonder if physicals have been added yet for RAYE? If not then she has a chance, if they have been added then looks unlikely to challenge for #1 unless she does a major push today/tomorrow with more physicals/discounts etc.

Tyla - CHANEL
Released in October, the song is currently going viral on TikTok. Up to #67 on global spotify. I expect it'll enter the UK spotify chart soon! Hoping Tyla manages another hit with this.
-
RAYE - WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!
Spam streaming all versions of this, come on RATE *_* Hopefully today's update will have RAYE with a good amount of physicals sold. I hope they add last minute CDs/Casettes etc to really push for the #1!

Keep an eye out for Tyla - "Chanel". It's up to #67 on global spotify and has started appearing in various charts (debuts at #181 in Australia, up to #170 NZ, re-enters German spotify etc). I expect we'll see it enter the UK top 200 soon. The song is going viral on TikTok. Hopefully it'll get some playlist support come Friday when the playlists update. Wish it was a song from her summer EP that was going viral but not going to complain about Tyla getting another hit!

Friday Chart Predictions
Oo come on RAYE! *_* I hope her physicals do well and the remix will boost the songs streaming a bit.

Friday Chart Predictions
Would be great to see "Ocean Eyes" get a new peak (maybe even top 40?). The label should ask for a reset as I'm pretty sure it streams pretty well most weeks. I think her fans have been streaming it quite a bit too - it's climbing global spotify (up to #85 & re-enters top 200 on UK spotify at #165 today). It'll be the 10 year anniversary of the song in a couple days from its original release on soundcloud so wouldn't be surprised to see it continuing to climb until then.

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA Afterglow
Such a great video! I get big Janet vibes. Making me like the song more than initially!

It's the americanisation of the playlists unfortunately. I find they're becoming more and more american-biased on spotify (Apple & Amazon do a much better job of regional variation for their Christmas playlists). Chris Rea is only at #77 on the main Christmas playlist on spotify.

RAYE - WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!
The remix is so good! I feel like the song is going to explode in the new year in the US which should hopefully help it globally *_*

Rina Sawayama - TBA
Thought it was a good time to start a thread for this. Rina recently spoke about her next album in a Vogue Japan interview being "her darkest and most emotionally charged project yet" The Express TribuneRina Sawayama’s next album reflects global chaos: “It’s d...Rina Sawayama reveals her upcoming album explores darker, angrier themes inspired by global politics and unrest I hope that Rina speaking about it means we'll start to get more details in the coming months and maybe even get the album in 2026? Really looking forward to her next album!

Poppy, Amy Lee & Courtney LaPlante - End of You
Agreed! Love how their voices work with each other and Amy sounds SO good. Definitley one of my favourite songs of the year. I love the contrast of Amy's haunting vocals with Poppy's vocals. Happy to see the song managed to chart!
-
Poppy - Empty Hands
Interested to check this out! I've recently started getting into Poppy and really like a number of songs from her previous album. "Unravel" is good and I like "Bruised Sky" as well!
-
Hilary Duff - Mature
This is getting stuck in my head... Wasn't sure on it at first but it is definitely a grower!

Friday Chart Predictions
I'm hoping with "WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!" becoming a big hit worldwide (reaching new peaks in various charts etc) that it will help indirectly boost the song here to give it a longer chart life. Hoping we may see it get to #1 at some point (come on RAYE release some physicals in the new year!). Happy to see Katy's "bandaids" at #48 - hopefully it'll hold on to a top 100 placing come Friday!
