If they release in the UK first then that's going to seriously halt their promo in America unless the UK release is VERY soon.
Unless they premiere it worldwide in the next week (and automatically releasing to the US iTunes), release the video in the UK, promote it and release it in October and then fly back to America for November/December/January to promote it over there?
EDIT - unless they're not gonna promote it in the UK and hope it does well on airplay/TV channels? Or pre-record a bunch of performances?

They're not holding their song back, though. It hasn't even had a radio premiere. For all we know it could be on iTunes immediately after it's premiere (as it usually is in the US) then they'll start to promote it. They can't promote it anywhere until it's had it's premiere, really. The gig tonight is a one-off I think.

Be interesting to see how much their stats rise in the next few months as they build up a US fanbase. :)

While I agree a January release in the UK is too far away, I can't see any other option for them. They NEED to be in the US to promote the song like hell the next few months, and it probably won't even peak (either on radio or sales) until January anyway over there. They can't really release it in the UK without promoting it, and they can't fly back and forth between the UK and the US promoting it at the same time.
Only problem is that it'll be online from tomorrow (100% sure the debut performance will be all over the internet tomorrow) and the radio premiere must be in a few weeks, and if it's not released until January then that's 3/4 months of illegal downloading. :/ So it'll probably do a 'We R Who We R' (on a smaller scale I imagine) and just be extremely frontloaded by the time it's eventually released here.

Someone said on Popjustice a few days ago that the girls were premiering the song on Ryan Seacrest's radio show. This is probably possible because Ryan Seacrest works with E! and has connections with the Kardashian's, so even if the song isn't premiered on his show, E! will probably get him to play the song on his radio station (apparently one of the biggest in America) anyway.
They've also started the interviews in America, too. Someone on Twitter had an interview with them yesterday and Tweeted that he absolutely loved them, and the guy has over 1 million followers there. :D

I like Flo Rida and I like his material (besides 'Whistle') but for some reason I hate seeing him have success. I think it's because he's already had alot of big hits I think i'd rather see some other artists get the success. I mean, 'Wild Ones' and 'Good Feeling' were amazing but there's only so many times he can shoot into the top ten before I start to get bored.

I think what's happened is they've realised HSAB is going to take longer than expected to take off and they're waiting for another date to release the album.
I mean, it took like two months for Olly to break the top 100. He'll either climb really slowly now (ala 'Lights') or bomb, and I suspect the label will be watching it's iTunes performance to decide whether or not to release the album.

Little Mix were always going to be more successful than the male winners. Joe, Leon and Matt just didn't have the charisma, image or performance skills to do well outside the show and their material was far too bland and faceless to be big hits. Little Mix are a girl group and are young, fun, colorful, can dance and have released a very radio friendly pop song with a catchy chorus. They've got a media presence (mostly because of Zayn and Twitter) and they're also releasing earlier than the usual XF winners.
Throw in the fact that Little Mix had barely any fans at the start of XF and had to build themselves up through consistant performances (as opposed to the male winners who just done well from the start...was it bored housewives voting for them? Teenage girls with a crush?) and also the fact that One Direction have done well so Simon will probably want to take the girls to the US, and i'd say there's alot of pressure on Wings to go to #1.
